He does just that, and preparing an incantation, a portal starts opening up about fifty meters from where he is now. Just like Lone Wolf said... Keep on your toes, and keep moving. Finishing the spell and closing the book, he makes a mad dash for the portal, the red haze getting closer and closer until...
The Regent teleports right in front of Gigi.
"Nope."
He fires a blackish red orb at him, aiming to knock him back into the haze.

Kyoko decides to see what knocking the Regent out with the blunt end of her spear will do to the curse.
Only for the Regent to teleport away before she can move. Mother fucker!

It knocks him through and the portal immediately closes, not letting any of the haze get through.

The red haze turns into a foggy red version of the Regent's face, which shakes it's head at her before disappearing.

At the same time the mage's portal closes, another opens else where, this time on the roof of the building. "Alright, Jet," he says through a walkie-talkie, "I think we've found our guy..."

"Hm... Well, didn't take long for our perp to notice..." He then tries to find a ladder or other place to get down, carrying something akin to a bazooka with him on his shoulder. He eventually just climbs down using some of the dislodged bricks and structural beams before landing on the ground.
"So, what brings you here?"
At the heart of the world...
"Not much. Just a simple bounty hunter trying to survive." He then flings a knife or two at him to distract him, and then sets up the bazooka to shoot. Spike then pulls the trigger, releasing a net that should capture the Regent...
He catches both knifes, using them to cut through the net.
At the heart of the world...
Realizing he won't go down so easily, he takes out his Jericho and fires a round into the Regent's leg.
Oh, Spike, when will you ever learn...
"Ouch. You know, you shouldn't use weapons against me."
The bullet imbedding into his leg comes out, converting into a small portion of the haze.
"Fair warning."
He teleports behind Spike.

Funnily enough, guns might just be a Loophole Abuse on his curse... the bullet did the wound, not the gun... and the wielder never touched the bullet... (well, not after loading it in the magazine...)
