...So, why was it ambiguous if it was going to continue or not? When did Hasbro actually renew it?
Oh, and why 65?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.13 is probably used because there are approximately 52 weeks in a year, and 52 divided by 4 is 13. That would make 13 weeks equal approximately one season. If you release 5 episodes a week, then that "season" includes 65 episodes, and releasing one every week would result in a 13-episode season.

You will also see 26 episodes per season come up a lot.
That's for America, though. In England for instance seasons tend to be shorter, but denser in content, with fewer filler episodes.
Optimism is a duty.Ah, thank you for the explanation about 65.
...Wait, wasn't there a curious hiatus from between Season three and Season four? One of the flare-ups of the fandom, if Rytex is correct?
...So, to answer my question, Hasbro renewed after the ending?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I realized I didn't clarify again, when I said I can't see room to imagine consequences happening offscreen, I should have gave a specific example.
Lesson Zero: since Celestia decided not to punish Twilight for her brainwashing antics, is there room to think consequences happen maybe after the episode ends? Celestia didn't actually pardon her but the episode doesn't give the vibe that anyone would still be mad at Twilight, then again, we don't see how the rest of the town feels.
Well, that's basically why there was such a long hiatus, because season 3 was only half the normal length, but season 4 only started the next year after. A longer hiatus with an active fandom usually means more fandom activity (just look at Harry Potter and the three year summer).
Optimism is a duty.Hmm, it seems that things are getting better. Now, what's next tomorrow?
Rainbow Falls.

Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.and to clarify more, my inability to make a headcanon for Offscreen Karma is that the show gives off the vibe each and every time that all is forgiven for whatever the characters did with no hint to the contrary.
Which characters that FiM invented do you see becoming staples of future MLP generations?
Trixie for sure.
Technically, all of the Mane 6 could count, as they are retools of distinct G1 characters.
Sunset and Starlight might carry on too.
Sunset would be great. I happened to see a fanart of G5 Sunset, and it looks pretty good.
I hope the CMC carry over, but with a new story arc that doesn't revolve around their cutie marks.
Optimism is a duty. That shouldn't be hard. Cutie Marks exclusively are a G4 concept.
So, today is "Rainbow Falls".
...Are there any Wonderbolts in any narrative capacity in this? Because, if so, it might sting.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Oh, god. If the blurb is correct and the Wonderbolts being here means what it's probable it means...
My heart is already starting to sink.
Wait, why are they part of Cloudsdale?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. The Wonderbolts have always been asociated to Cloudsdale.
R-really? When?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.I think I might be remembering season 4 stuff as happening earlier.
The main Bolts are asociated to Cloudsdale from 4 onwards. But they showed up in Cloudsdale things before this.
Their academy is somewhere else. It's not Canterlot, nor Ponyville. It's "somewhere".
...Are you recollecting "Hurricane Fluttershy"? Because that one had the Wonderbolts helping Cloudsdale.
So, I've seen "Rainbow Falls".
Here are the scores: bugger this piece of nonsense. Let it be tossed into a dumpster and left to rot.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWait, cutie marks are a G4 exclusive? I thought that was like a franchise staple. G1 ponies seem to have them.
Optimism is a duty. They're not. A quick Google search says they've existed since G1 but were called symbols there and got renamed cutie marks in G3. Friendship is Magic is the first time they're actually important to the lore though, if you trust the wiki.
Technically, all of the Mane 6 could count, as they are retools of distinct G1 characters.
Sunset and Starlight might carry on too.
What about Celestia, Luna, Cadance, and all of the various families and relatives?
Man, "Rainbow Falls" was a disappointment. It's dilemma is essentially the same as "Wonderbolt Academy" : will dash go for the Wonderbolts or her companions?
But she's far less mature in "Rainbow Falls", what with her "covertly training for both Ponyville and Cloudsdale" and "pretending to be incapacitated so that she can avoid making a choice" malarkey.
She's selfish, sure, but this is nothing short of cowardly. Even if this was the first time she had such a dilemma, it would be aggravating. But it isn't. In "Wonderbolt Academy", she chose her companions over the Wonderbolts because she wasn't willing to be a Wonderbolt if it meant being Lightning and only caring about being the best, regardless of who gets hurt. In "Rainbow Falls", she tries her utmost to not have to make that choice.
Why have her go through the same dilemma that she went through before if she's going to be worse?

So most cartoons are usually syndicated for 65 episode. With MLP, this played out as 2.5 seasons, ending with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star ascending, which was always Faust's original plan from the beginning (though she had Tinkles taking Sunbutt's place, instead of just being there).
However, as noted, the toys were still selling, the fandom was still in its "golden age" (though it was in its last few months), and the Hub was still raking in viewers, so they renewed it for a couple more seasons. Then they usually stayed ahead of the game by saying they had the current season and then one more booked from there. Now we're in Season 9 and there's no word of a Season 10 renewal, which seems to corroborate the leak info about this being the last one.
