Apaprently no one has a useless talent in Equestria. Even the often jokes as useless "Diamond Tiara" mark represents leadership ability. I'm going to take a guess then that Spoiled Rich was a jeweler at least as some point.

They finally got their cutie marks, and boy was it worth the wait!

Also, AJ's parents are finally acknowledged as dead in the show!

I thought Diamond Tiara's turnaround was a bit rushed, but still okay. I would never believe I could feel sad for her, but here we are. Even if her Freudian Excuse was kind of cliche, I still felt sorry for her. And I'm glad she finally got some kind of Character Development. I wonder if Silver Spoon will get some Character Development later on, too.

But the more important thing is that THE CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS FINALLY HAVE THEIR CUTIE MARKS! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I'M SO PROUD OF THEM

AND APPLEJACK WAS SO PROUD THAT SHE ACTUALLY CRIED ON THE OUTSIDE

ALSO HER PARENTS ARE DEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAD

They're confirmed dead?? I must've missed it, when did they say it?

I keep reading people's comments about that as "They actually note her parents were dead out loud? Awesome!", even if I know the actual context of those.

AJ has a line about how if mom and dad were here they'd be proud of Applebloom.

Not confirmed confirmed, but another line that... really can't mean anything else. Well, that COULD, but it would be a stretch.

Near the end AJ told AB that their parents would be so proud of her if they were here now. Hard to cast that as anything else.

I was super glad when Silver Spoon told off Diamond Tiara. Gave her some character development and showed she was more than just DT's sidekick.

Speaking of bullies, when they first appeared I thought that Snips and Snails were going to be the bully characters, but that never happened. And when was the last time we saw Pipsqueak?

This is also mentioned on the YMMV page for the episode, but the story with Troubleshoes also hints at what the CMC's true talent is, since they helped him realize a more positive interpretation of the cutie mark he already had.

...Wow. I sort of expected that, but still...wow.

I'll agree that Diamond Tiara's redemption was fairly rushed. I didn't hate, but we could have used another episode hinting at it.

That said, as a vehicle for the CMC to get their Cutie Marks...yeah, makes quite a bit of sense.

I'm wondering if that went by too fast, but it's been nearly 5 seasons, so I'm fine with it.

...So what do they do now?

And I thought I was mixed on how I felt about the Friendship Games . . .

Okay, let me start with a very minor complaint; why were Fancy Pants and his female friend in Ponyville? I know it's a really minor thing, but it feels like a rather weird continuity error, considering he's the delegate of CANTERLOT in Princess Spike

Now, on to the meat of this episode. The pacing was VERY fast, especially considering what this episode was building up to. I'd argue it was slightly more brisk than Magical Mystery Cure. And, unfortunately, it does kinda suffer from it. Diamond Tiara's character arc, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders' epiphany happens a bit too fast to feel gradual or real, especially in Diamond Tiara. She's been an uber jerk, with no hint of her having a more sympathetic side, and all in one episode, we find out she's sympathetic? You need time to develop that change for it to really work, because she's done such a 180 by the end of the episode. I know its supposed to be a testament to the CMC's abilities, but it's still not efficient. The musical numbers were fine (but Diamond Tiara's singing bits in the second song were pretty bad, and that choir during the CMC sections sounds too old to be children). They were all about the same quality, and I feel they work best if they're all viewed as someone watches the episode, rather than on really sticking out (it's kind of like Pinkie Pride in that way, rather than Magical Mystery Cure which had two really good musical numbers while the others were ok to meh).

Finally, the big cheese of this episode, the CMC getting their cutie marks. Eh . . . On the one hand, I absolutely wanted this to happen at some point. It would feel ridiculous if they never got them. But . . . this episode really downplayed their individual talents. While they're referenced in the center of their emblem, even the CMC themselves are bigger on the fact they have the SAME cutie mark. The club goes on, but instead of trying to find their own cutie marks, they'll be helping others. Wasn't their friendship more important then the whole cutie mark thing anyway? Why do they need an excuse to keep the club going when it's always about more than that? I know that's the lesson they learn in the episode, but . . . They didn't even remember Applebloom was said to have a talent for artistic design, much like Rarity. Instead, she just has an apple in her cutie mark. That was really egregious in my opinion.

Worse, I'm pretty sure this is going to be their big schtick now. I doubt much will become of Sweetie Belle's singing aspirations, I doubt we'll see Scootaloo develop her flying ability, and Applebloom will just carry on in her family tradition since the writers forgot about her special talent.

It was presented well (the music was pretty good, the animation was particularly expressive this time around, and it was compelling despite being rushed), but ultimately . . . This resolution just doesn't work. I understand people who think otherwise, but besides being kind of hackneyed (we realized what our cutie marks are by realizing trying to discover them isn't important . . . isn't that what brought them together in the first place?!). They don't even emphasize the whole "wait 'till it's time" thing; again, it just totally makes the whole individual talents thing pretty much unimportant to the whole "Motivational guide for blank flanks" thing. Eh . . . I just don't think it works.

Nearly forgot to mention this; it was nice they finally acknowledged more specifically that Applejack's parents had passed; it was a bit of a daring move on Roger's part, and she inserted it at a good moment too.

That makes too much sense not to be deliberate. I still don't really like the reveal, though, for the reasons I stated above . . .

Final Fantasy 6: I checked a walkthrough again. It turns out that the protuding things on the bottom right are actually pipes that you can go through if you walk up to them then hold down. It's a shame that it's so hard to figure out what you can actually interact with here and how.

Sabin learned a devasting new blitz technique! Apparently, it is Razor Gale, which sounds like it might actually do damage, unlike Chakra.

It appears that Razor Gale does nearly double the damage of Rising Pheonix. As if Sabin wasn't OP enough already.

I'm not sure if this is affected by some sort of elemental damage/resistance thing though.

Kefka wants to revive the Warring Triad, whoever they are.

Kefka just dumped two Espers in the Incinerator Chute.

Just fought 4 Flans, who are apparently completely immune to Razor Gale. That's just cruel. Luckily Rising Pheonix worked fine.

Just fought Infrit and Shiva, who are outright immune to both Aura Cannon and Razor Gale, but are damaged by Rising Pheonix. The game is just taunting me at this point.

Ifrit and Shiva make a big deal about me having Ramuh's power, despite the fact that I didn't actually equip Ramuh to anyone. I meant to give it to Celes, but the fact that it's not equipped now and she hasn't gained any Stamina means that I must have forgotten. Oops.

Apparently they weren't drained enough to prevent becoming Magicite. They don't have any useful stat boosts though.

Locke has had darkness for a while, but hasn't missed a single mugging yet. Does it even do anything? I thought it made you miss physical attackins in the GBA version.

Celes just ran off and took Kefka with her. I'm not quite sure what happened. Oh well, Sabin will have to manage without a lightning rod for now.

Cid's life expectency just fell to 0.

The first person mine cart thing is a pretty cool effect, even if the extreme pixellation ruins it.

Kefka's probably going to pull out something like Khoviara's Collossus.

You know, if Sabin ever gets removed for plot reasons like Terra and Celes have, I'd be pretty screwed.

Incidently, I wonder what the other characters dialogue for hte opera scene is.

Tried to fly past the Imperial Observation Post, but it appears that the eastern half of the continent is solid mountains.

Gave the Dragoon Boots to Cyan just to see what they'd do. He jumped and never came back down.

Your character jumps into the air, becoming immune to attacks for a short time, before slamming down on the enemy to attack. Dealing double damage if you have a lance equipped.

Hey MLPFIM thread. I don't visit forums anymore, but decided to check here since 5 year anniversary and neat episode airing and stuff.

I liked this episode. I had more problems with it than with most episodes but climax make it worth, and i loved climax.

CMC getting their Cutie Marks in almost perfect way I wanted (all 3 at same type, and those are connected plus relation to CMC activity).

I hope to see improvement with Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon in future episodes to be fully satisfied their character progress in this episode.

Also I wish I wasn't spoiled about ep Conversation in Skype was like this: - (comment about new episode) - No spoilers pls - It was Wham Episode I knew it what will happen after that.

You can never be too overpowered. That's why RPGs nowadays use a parallel leveling system.
