Twilight is clearly best pony. Come on.

As for the other thing, the obvious thing that comes to mind for me now is Steven Universe, since I just finished watching it a week ago. I mean, it's a good show, but I wouldn't call it "Best cartoon on TV" or anything along those lines. For me it's pretty solidly in the "good, but not awesome" category.

You forgot to add Rainbow Dash to that.

Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and Derpy are best pony. That is scientific fact.

@Kuroi: That's true, although more stylized works suffer from it much less. For example Super Mario 64 still looks pretty good because it's clear they weren't trying for anything even close to human for most of the characters. There's still the same old issues of low poly-count(Or rather no poly-count; I'm pretty sure they still used Nurbs back then), but that's much less jarring when something is already warped and squashed. When something it mostly human shaped, but sharp everywhere, that ages a bit more poorly.

@Kegisak: It certainly helps that the Mario games tend to be quite cartoony to begin with, so the low poly-count really didn't age as badly. Bowser still looked weird though.

Also, come on, Twilight is the science pony.

I have issues with Rarity. I'd probably severely dislike her IRL.

And Celestia is too perfect for me to identify with well.

As I've said, I probably couldn't stand someone like Rainbow Dash in real life. Since I started with the pilot* I caught her at a good moment and was hooked.

  • Technically I started with the first two comic issues, but devoid of context and with things so rushed like the comics do, they weren't really distinctive characters to me there.

There's a fair amount of characters I wouldn't be able to stand being around, but I still like them in fiction. You gotta separate how you'd think of them in fiction and in RL. For example, Wario is one of my favorite Nintendo character's due to being hilarious and a major anti hero {He's motivated entirely by Greed, wanting as much money as possible no matter how much he already has} in contrast to most of the Goody two-shoes from the most of the Mario cast that arn't villains, but his greedy and selfish nature, not to mention how much of an ass he is, means that he is not someone I would ever want to deal with in RL.

The same applies to Pinkie Pie, though not due to her being a jerk {She really isn't at all} and more due to her personality. I like the character a lot, but I generally don't like people similar to her in RL {Who don't affect my views on her}.

Also, hnnnnnngggggg, that is adorable.[down] Why can't pony Twilight look like the one on the left?

Is it wrong I kinda like Sci Twi more than season 1 Twi? She's even more awkward, peppers her dialogue with clinical descriptions, the glasses thing, and gets a lot of moe points for her abuse.

I generally get along with people pretty well regardless of how much we've got in common so long as they aren't huge assholes or anything. So while I don't really have anything in common with Rainbow or Rarity, I'd be fine hanging out with them in real life. Fortunately they both seem pretty good at leading a conversation, so it wouldn't just end up a huge awkward silence.

Pinkie Pie, I'm not sure. I'd probably get along with her alright, but I'd end up exhausted just being in the same room as her for too long.

I don't think I'd be able to get along with Rainbow. I absolutely cannot stand arrogance.

Pinkie Pie...would be exhausting to be around. Fun, but really exhausting.

I think I could get along fine with the rest of the Mane 6 though.

I could definitely get along with all of them, mostly considering I'm friends with people who are at least slightly similar to them in the first place.

One of my best friends is like a fusion of Rarity and Pinkie Pie. Maybe I could handle hanging out with Pinkie Pie...maybe.

What you could do is use the flail for random battles and then put a sword back on for boss

The problem is that usually you don't know when a boss battle is going to come up. And it's not like I actually need Celes's damage. Sabin can 1 or 2 shot anything that's not a boss.

I would say Thunderlane is best pony.

Better not let Aqua hear you say that.

Is there something out there that you guys find overrated to an extent, but still enjoy anyway?

Edge Of Tomorrow? Psychonauts? Final Fantasy 6?

The thing is that I don't consume much media nowadays, so I have few answers to such questions in general.

The big benefit of the chain flail and other weapons of it's type is it allows full damage from the back row.

Is this even mentioned in the game anywhere?

Well, what do you think you should do?

Walk west in the overworld and see if any new locations have appeared. Possibly visit the Moogles again too. Not sure if the thing with the Yeti was flavor text or actual plot. I'm suspicious because Conservation of Detail though.

The first thing that comes to mind though is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

I didn't actually enjoy Haruhi. The first episode was hilarious, but the rest was boring. Mikaru is really annoying, and not much actually happens. Yuki was kind of cool though.

Sabin tends to actually make better use of them, since all his best Blitzes are magic-based

Seriously? I'll have to try that out then. Assuming Rising Pheonix is affected of course.

I find anything with 3D graphics really tends to suffer that way. For example, I look at FF 7 and go "well, that didn't age well in the slightest", versus FF 6, which still looks perfectly fine.

This so much. It wasn't until the late 2000s that 3d graphics caught up with 2d graphics, ironically. Of course, at the time early 3d was mind blowing due to novelty so everyone praised those polygons to high heaven.

If you want to know what to do next Story. Go to Figaro Castle and talk to people. Also, try going there with both Edgar and Sabin in your party.

FF 6 is much, much more minimalist than FF 7, so it appeals to different people. They do share some similar themes and a general cyber/steam punk-ish feel, but the former is by way of lost tech and the latter is embedded into society.

The parties also have very different outlooks when it comes to thinking of the end of the world.

The problem is that usually you don't know when a boss battle is going to come up.

You can actually swap what's in a unit's hands using the Item command. It doesn't even use up your turn to do it.

Seriously? I'll have to try that out then. Assuming Rising Pheonix is affected of course.

Yep. I checked the FAQ again and the only ones that aren't magic-based are Raging Fist and Meteor Strike.

Whether you consider it being late to the party or not, I've kinda' zigzagged in and out of this series every so often ever since it kinda' started to be a big deal and such and the whole brony thing started popping up on radars. Especially since I was interested in all the things it trailed off into when it came to the visual style and various kinds of humor and subject matter and so on so forth.

And, admittedly, I find that the series is kinda' wearing me out a bit. I mean I enjoyed all the things it did that made it a marked improvement on its own franchise and as a cartoon overall, but whether it's because of Hype Backlash or just worn down by it's prominence across the board when it comes to animation or animation related media, or something in-between, I dunno'. I mean, some of the fan contents and spin-off media is impressive, but ya' know.

Of course, I suppose it's because I kinda' shrugged and moved on when it came to the brony thing. I mean yeah for some peeps it's a big thing and was a big stepping stone when it came to that sorta' demographic, But for Me, It Was Tuesday. Always enjoyed making stories and comics with prominent female casts, watched Powerpuff Girls back in the day, watching Steven Universe now, always tended to watch this sorta' stuff, and MLP was one I was kinda' "okay, cool" on.

Hope you guys don't mind me kinda' just posting my thoughts on it after suddenly realizing how much I see it daily, certainly not meant as derogatory or anything.
