I'm just watching the movies for the new songs by this point.

When Cinch appeared I expected her to do something terribly evil by the end, but no, she never wanted to take over the world, she just wanted to win some stupid inter-school competition.

I liked Cinch's mannerisms, but she's not that memorable as a villain. I think the film suffers from not having an antagonist without magic power until the last ten minutes. The stakes just don't feel high enough.

I heard the new EQG movie is meh, and a step down from Rainbow Rocks. wild mass guessMaybe the writers are purposely trying a pattern: The first movie is meh, 2nd movie is good, 3rd movie is meh, 4th one is good, etc.wild mass guess

So, like Star Trek?

Of course, even Trek fans will disagree on that...

Anyway, how much concrete info do we has on Legends of Everfree?

Oh God! Natural light!

No, it wasn't 'meh' just, not AS good as rainbow Rocks. But still dmn good. Only really weakness was the villains being really bland, shallow and one note with no development. But the Sunset and Sci-Twi stuff more then made up for that.

Final Fantasy 6: Time for more FF 6! Last time Edgar went around town doing everything except talk to Duncan. Which naturally means that next up is a shopping spree.

Bought Sprint Shoes. It took me ages to figure out how to equip them though. Talk about an unintuitive UI.

Wheeee! I'm so fast now. It's like someone covered the world in Propulsion Gel.

Also upgraded everyone's swords, armor, shields, and hats. I ended up buying one of each armor to figure out what the stats are. It's was a pretty complicated processing of equipping, unequipping, going to the item menu to figure out the stats, etc. I think I eventually got the best equipment for everyone. It helps a lot that in every case, one item is strictly better than another, it's just a really cumbersome process to figure out which is which. Shame you can't see the stats of items you're going to buy or equipped items directly.

Also bought a stay at the inn and a chocobo ride because why not? I have too much money anyway.

Edgar: ... my third castle burned down fell over, and then sank into the sand. Screw it, I'm building the next one in a swamp.

You know, I'm surprised Edgar hasn't tried to hit on any of the random NP Cs yet. Must be because conversations with NP Cs are always one-sided.

And now enough faffing about. Time to talk to Duncan. If I can remember where he was that is.

Well that wasn't Duncan's house. I ran into Cider Guy instead. He was talking to the guy who wants cider but the guy who wants cider still wants cider for some reason. Oh well, I'm told that I shouldn't worry about the cider thing until later.

Figures that after all that, Duncan isn't even home. I guess I'm supposed to find Mount Kolts or something? I suppose I'll check Sabin's house again first to see if anything changed.

Cool. Apparently you can follow Cider Guy's progress across town if you're quick.

Wait, the house in the woods is Duncan's? I thought it was Sabin's. Oh well, nobody here either. Man do I get stuck a lot.

Oh, there is a reachable location in the overworld that I missed before. Mt. Kolts it is.

Woah, having the exit flip around the mountain in 2d like that is pretty cool. It's a good thing they have the Black Guy run off that way because I would have never guessed that it's an exit otherwise.

MT Kolts seems to be an endurance run. The fights are easy but I'm gradually taking damage. I already used 2 poitions. In the last fight, Locke turned grey with little sparks over his head. The status menu shows a beaker by him. I assume this means he's poisoned. Either that or he's drunk, but I suppose the cure is the same either way.

Wait, why does Terra have only 61/84 MP? She hasn't used magic in days. Did one of the enemy attacks drain MP?

Wait, there's a boss fight at the end of this? I though once I got through there'd be healing. If I had known I would have healed up again at least.

Using the same strategy as every fight for the last couple days. Locke and Terra spam physical attacks while Edgar spams the Auto Crossbow. For some reason the crossbow doesn't affect Vargas though, only his pet mammoths. Also, instead of attacking, Terra just used something called Riot Blade that did 1685 damage. WTF? I guess that was the thing they mentioned earlier where critically injured characters will occasionally pull super moves out of their ass? Edgar didn't freak out about the magic. Presumably he was too preoccupied wondering why the crossbow wasn't hitting Vargas. Either that or he was too busy nearly dying.

Sabin appeared out of nowhere, and suddenly it's Vargas v Sabin. I wonder what happens if Sabin loses this fight. Better savestate just to be sure.

Vargas isn't happy that Sabin is refusing to fight.

The party has fallen? Pretty sure they were just blown away. Unless some stranger they just barely met is "the party" now.

Incorrect blizt command input? Why doesn't the game tell you how to do these moves? Unless you're expected to just use physical attacks here.

Thanks Sabin's internal monologue, for telling me how to do it after I tried and failed to do it.

Left, right, left, A. That's half the Konami Code, sort of.

They just repeated the command squence for Blitz 3 times. Guess they want to be extra sure I know how to do it. After I already failed it of course.

Oh come on. I just tried and failed to blitz 3 times, and I did the right inputs. You know, it's not enough to tell me the inputs if you don't give any indication of the correct timing and make it really timing sensitive.

It's a good thing I have a savestate here.

Another dead Sabin. This is BS!

Time to try going through the tutorial again.

Cursor? What cursor? There is no freaking cursor!

Maybe fitfh time's the charm... I don't think so.

That's 5 dead Sabin's by the way, which is like 20-30 tries overall.

Ok, I give up. This game is ridiculous.

[up] It's a little oddball. You have to select Blitz, then do the input, then confirm. That is, cursor down to Blitz, A, then left, right, left, then A. There's no timing required. Just be sure not to accidentally enter any other inputs alongside it.

Final Fantasy 6: So I searched online for help with the Blitz. Hopefully I can get it this time. It certainly seems to be a common problem for players. I wonder how people handeled it back in the day when strategy guides were things you bought in stores and often incorrect or useless.

Got it. The key is apparently that you have to do it all before blitz disappears from the menu. Which is the opposite of how most moves work.

Ok, Locke not knowing about Sabin and Edgar bieng brothers I understand, but how is Terra confused about this? She was told about it by the high preistess. In fact, the game forces you to talk to her to continue. Is it the lingering affect of the drugs?

Also, Vargas's bears? He had mammoths, not bears! Terra must really be out of it.

Anyway, Edgar what are you doing here? Trying to pick of chicks, what about you?

A means of striking back presented itself? I assume Edgar is referring to his auto-crossbow, because he still hasn't seen Terra do magic. Or at least not while he was paying attention.

I really do wonder why everyone makes such a big deal about Terra. Her magic is about as powerful as a crossbow and the Kefka has mechs that can roflstomp everything anyway.

What? I am outdoors! Why can't I use that tent? For that matter, why can't I use the tent indoors? Oh well, guess I'll have to heal up the criticially injured party some other way.

Also, Blitz seems to be Awesome But Impratical. If that's really the way it works, there's no way to spam it during battle, so I guess I'll stick to just physical attacks like I do with everyone else. I suppose it would be worth it for boss fights though.

So the overworld has a really nice straight path that just ends in a dead end with no cities or anything in site. How do I keep getting stuck so often?

[up] Blitz is actually one of the strongest things in the game for a casual run with minimal grinding (that is one that just engages stuff as they come, not actively seeking additional fights). The way the damage formula works, Blitzes will generally deal a ton of damage (typically triple or more that of Sabin's normal Attack), and once you get the way they work figured out, the inputs are really simple. The only downside is they can't have their target defined, so the single target moves will hit a random enemy with its massive damage.

Final Fantasy 6: Nevermind, I backtracked and found the hideout.

"The empire wouldn't even think of looking for our hideout here." - I know, I could barely find it myself. That path thing was a great devirsion tactic by the way.

Time to talk to Banondorf. Apparently, he talks to birds.

The party split up, and Edgar had the sprint shoes, so now Terra has to walk around slowly by herself.

Here's a charm to keep you safe. Terra obtained Gauntlet! Banon really is a crazy old man. He can't even keep his items straight.

"No, that's impossible!" - Why thank you for the random interjection Luke. At least I'm assuming it was Luke Skywalker, because there wasn't any tag for the speaker that time.

I still doesn't really understand what espers are in this game. Are they people? Items? It's weird the way people talk about them.

A messenger just ran 26 miles straight from South Figaro to tell news of the Empires victory before collapsing in exhaustion. He would have gotten there faster if it weren't for the mountain range in the way.

A certian lecherous young king who shall rename nameless? Too late, I already named him.

Also, he hasn't actually done anything since the first meeting with Terra.

Wait, I thought Terra was going with Locke? Man is this party splitting confusing.

Oh well, guess I'll stop here.

Look at the bottom of the screen, it should have pictures of each of your players. They'll be doing a little dance if they can equip it, sitting down if they can't. And have a little arrow pointing up or down if it will increase or decrease heir stats.

Wait, why does Terra have only 61/84 MP?

If you leveled up, it increases your max MP, but not your current MP.

awww don't give up. You select blitz on the menu, input the commands, then hit A.. or whatever your confirm bottun is.

I finally got to see the new episode this evening. I liked it fine, but I think I prefer the other two Rarity episodes from this season. I thought Applejack's hat getting wrecked repeatedly was kind of funny, though, especially since it made me remember that she has an entire closet full of them (so much for that early fanon about it being extra-special to her).

I get that, but the problem is that you can't be sure you're optimizing that way because, among other things you don't know if everyone has the optimal gear to start with. And at the time, I didn't know that the items could be totally ordered in power, the only way to see that is to actually look at the stats.
