Here's a small preview of Rocket Raccoon's voice.

Hard to get context for how good he'll sound in general, but it sounds a'ight.

You can get a sense for how Vin will sound as Groot just by hearing him say the name.

I had a similar thought about Star-lord's attachment to his Walkman as above. We don't know the origin for this version, so it's possible that he's fully human, which means that the Walkman is literally all he has left of a home he clearly hasn't seen in a very long time.

Plus, I totally want them to create a new version of Hooked on a feeling with the drums from the trailer now.

Interesingly, I liked the trailer a lot more when I saw it a second time than I did on first viewing.

RE the Walkman- maybe it still works because of some WALL-E like reverse engineering? I mean it would somewhat go against it being a keepsake, but maybe it is running on some more advanced power source?

It did occur to me that the batteries in that thing should have died years ago, but I guess space tech can solve that nitpick.

Is finding space batteries really as Fridge Logic-y as people are making it sound?

Well direct current would be far easier to duplicate than alternating current and its not like electricity is going to change much. Just duplicate the voltage and the amperage. Not a big leap really.

Kind of annoying that Hollywood screwed with Starlord's origin and personality to once again make the cliched "everyman" that the audience can insert themselves into.

There's a bad habit of the Everyman being a bit of a Jerkass.

Though apparently, Starlord is a bit of a Jerkass, but still.

From the poster and a lot of the scenes in the trailer, is anyone else getting the vibe that our heroes are going to spend a chunk of the movie adventuring on the barren planet we keep seeing (I think the one in the poster is the same one where Star Lord is attacked by Korath in the trailer, and a few more scenes in the trailer take place there as well).

Which sounds really cool. Here's hoping for some epic Scenery Porn.

It already looks like the effects and art design are already pretty great, so yeah, I'm hoping.

I'm guessing the prison break is going to be a major set piece.

I don't think Starlord's personality seems that far off from how it was in the recent comics, except maybe a bit more "hip". He does have slight Jerkass qualities in the books.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Gamora and Nova a "thing" in the comics?

For a while, since Annihilation onwards. It was a pretty unhealthy relationship.

[up][up] As was Gamora and Adam Warlock at an earlier point.

And I'm pretty sure that while Gamora and Tony Stark aren't in a relationship right now, they have "Gotten to know each other better" at least once since he joined the team. Though with Stark I suppose it shouldn't be that surprising.

[up] I saw a scan of that comic. Tony Stark was apparently terrified afterwards.

A comment by Gunn indicates that yes, the walkman is all that Peter has left of Earth and his childhood and it's a very important keepsake for him.

"Hooked On A Feeling' is used in the movie. That and a lot of other old songs are on Quill's mixed tape in his Sony Walkman. It's one of the few things he has from Earth. I don't think of it as a joke, because it's very dear to him. It's the umbilical cord that connects him to earth and the home and family he lost."

Also, he explained that the sex crime Peter committed (illegal manipulation of a Gramosian Duchess) was actually the duchess seducing him, and apparently it's illegal for commoners to have sex with Gramosian royalty.
