It may be a little late, but here's a thread for Tokurei Sochi Dantai Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu. Is anyone watching and enjoying this show? I sure am.smile

However, after the latest episode, I'm beginning to get worried about Yura. Sure, she's enjoying airsoft now, but it seems that she's enjoying it because she's winning. She'll probably suffer a breakdown once she loses again...sad

On a lighter note... Another day, another anime, another BeachEpisode. It was super fun!smile

Watching, definitely.

By the way, just in case people missed it, episode 04 was anime-original. The manga had them visiting an airsoft supply shop, and introducing Yura to some of the other equipment used for the sport (like the Ghillie suit and the facemasks).

Karira was oddly cute in this episode.

Yep, there's going to be drama for Yura later on.

[up] Would have liked to see that, though I probably wouldn't have found it as entertaining as this practice match.

Episode 6: Those customers were sure easy to rip off.

Yura's still on the drama track.

Been watching this, yes, with mixed impressions. Overall I still like the show, despite what I complain about.

There are a lot of implications that Sono isn't exactly happy with how Yura acts, and I get the impression we're supposed to side with Sono. However, while she is normally rather outspoken, she doesn't say anything about this, which just turns it sour for me. She also tells Yura to not think or worry about stuff, which reeks of hypocrisy. Now, considering what Rin implies, there's something Sono did she's not proud of, which probably is why she doesn't say anything. However, it just all seems melodramatic and dragging out something for the sake of having drama later on.

I really don't like Yura's "new" haircut. She went from cute to one of the least interesting looking characters on the show. Extras included.

Episode 7. In which there's a sniper. Who may or may not be Rin.

I'm with Yura about their attitude. Just because their best team member is injured and can't participate it's useless to enter a tournament? What happened to enjoying the game? Really, they shouldn't complain about Yura wanting to win too much and pressing them about it. It's the same attitude they have; they're just lazy about it. So it's also kind of hypocritical to bring it up later on when they're at the tournament site.

And we have the usual setup of extra teams, with themes to the extreme and carbon-copy members.

Episode 7:

Sonora's gonna miss out on the all-day tournament, huh? Darn you, Rin, or whoever was the sniper.

The heck, you guys!? You all became majorly unmotivated just because Sonora was injured?! That was disappointing! Good thing Yura held the team together.note

I have a very bad feeling about the next episode...sad

On a lighter note... Seikou Academy's KGB Division doing poses that wouldn't look out of place in JOJOOOOOO!!! Awesome.[tup]

Episode 8. In which morals are questioned.

"Don't fall behind," is kind of mean to say to someone who's carrying a backpack as large as herself, while you're not carrying anything of note. Props to Ren for soaking it up.

An ambush, especially with a sniper, that doesn't hit on first shot is a little sloppy.

I think it sounds kind of redundant to repeat a rule that the entire game is based on. "If you're hit, you're out." Now, announcing a disqualification is one thing, but no need to explain everything.

Rin got a lot of plus points for that pre-battle conversation. She basically told Yura what her reasons for fighting was, and that those reasons aren't necessarily what other people should follow. Each to her own. Also gives me the impression it either wasn't her, or she did it for a reason other than eliminating the competition.

In a team vs team flag duel, it's obvious that there's an option to ignore the flag and just focus on eliminating the other team.

Those circular shooting duels are just ridiculous. How can they aim so badly?

Well, that was a hollow victory. Depending on exact rules, Rin may have been eliminated anyway, if it's considered a simultaneous hit, but since Yura never even announced her it, it's a clear cheat, especially with the foreshadowing. Now that is going to bug her for a long while. Which she kind of deserves. And as far as the tournament goes, Rin considered it legal. From her war-perspective, it is. You don't drop dead the moment you're hit. So I'd still consider it a win for Stella.

Also, Ren is awesome.

Episode 8:

  • The only awesome gun fight was the one between Karila and Rin. The fight against the opera club was okay too. The others... not so much (I'm looking at you "let's circle around each other and shoot!")
  • Meisei did not display the level of competency I'd expect from a team that beat active marines. Not that I thought they would.
  • Yura's really sunk low. Though I thought she was most jerkass when she scolded Ren for lagging behind. Even though Ren was carrying all their stuff, and Yura herself wasn't carrying any. It's not even sensible tactics-wise. Yura better thank Ren for being so tolerant.
  • That said, I reckon Stella would have won the match even without Yura's zombie stint, so all Yura really did was give herself something to worry about.

Episode...8...:

  • Aw, the KGB were taken out early...
  • Hooray! Stella went and won it all.note
  • Awesome battle between Rin and Karila. The jazz added to the awesomeness.
  • Yura. There. You beat Rin. Happy now? Happy that you'd do anything to win, just like Rin? You better not be happy.
  • Rento's such a trooper. She managed to remain her happy and optimistic self despite what happened to her...note [awesome] Yura's lucky to have someone like her on the team.

People have noted that Yura has had no trips to her mental playground in the past two episodes... likely reflecting that Yura is, on some level, no longer playing for fun.

Episode 9. In which scenes are repeated.

So, it's official. She didn't cheat.

I think it's unfair to blame someone for someone else's misfortune, if that person denies it. If Ren's hurt, but says it's okay, then she's okay. Otherwise it's devaluing her.

Some things should just not be flushed down the drain. Or down a bamboo half-pipe.

I think I'll agree with Sono. She didn't do anything.

Now I wonder if Yura realises she's becoming like Rin and actually wants it, or is oblivious. Things points towards the former.

Also, Rin has a Freudian Excuse. More or less.

[up] Still, Ren not blaming Yura doesn't make Yura not a jerk.

Best shooting exercise ever. Should've stuck with noodles though; soggy cakes are not very delicious.

Oh, certainly. It just makes Yura unblamable for Ren's discomfort. But at least she doesn't give up on something just because she can't win, then tags along when someone tells her she can, and then whine about how it wasn't fun winning that way. Yura may be a jerk, but at least she's a relatively honest and straightforward jerk. I say relatively because she at least gets upset with herself for lying.

Episode 9:

  • Well, that's a fun way of getting something to eat.smile There are some foodstuffs that cannot work, though. Poor Karila.tongue
  • Rin has a reason for being who she is, eh? And she wasn't the sniper. Still, leaving a bonsai for a then-injured Sonora was in bad taste.note
  • And so, in order to further improve her airsoft tech, Yura has decided to ditch the fun-loving C3-bu... I can't see this ending well.

The big irony here is that Rin... seems to be going in the opposite direction, going to the C3 Bu to join with Sonora.

I kind of wonder if she left that bonsai because she wanted to fight Yura without Sono there.

You know, for a series that seemed slice-of-lifey moe in the same vein as a few other shows, it has a few surprisingly dark moments. And a main protagonist who isn't such a complete pushover as is common.

Wow, last time I checked for this thread, I don't think it was posted yet. And now it's 21 posts.

Anyway, I've watched a bit of episode 1 and I really need to go back and watch more. This is like the next Girls und Panzer and Sora no Woto, and I like those. The premise looks pretty cool.

Episode 10. In which there's a dead end.

Kind of hard to speak about what's happening now without mentioning spoilers.

And she's gone to the dark side. That rather unusual to actually see. And then we find out the dark side isn't nearly as dark as it's been made out to be. Or maybe that's just in contrast to Yura's darkness.

Letting her be the medic is a rather good lesson, I think. Not that she picked it up, though. She's acting like someone who'd actually pull that zombie stunt deliberately.

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone, especially a protagonist, be so lost. Well, I have, but only in works much inherently darker than this. And it took someone who's on occasion been portrayed as more or less the Big Bad to make her even realise she was on the wrong path.

From this, I can only see her remain alone in the dark, or apologising. Either to the C3 club, or to Rin. Both could work. Though she'll most likely return to her original club sooner or later.
