Wizards vs Muggles Interludum: Operation Sartre

"Shush," a low voiced woman chides Olivia from somewhere behind Warren. The group has been intruded upon by a giant in a plain dress that has worked her way into the circle. Nodding to everyone like she's supposed to be here, Czeslawa continues, "Waiting for Clark."

Hotel Lobby

0830 Hours

As the group talks, an elevator dings open. A second later, there are shouts, and five men with MP 5 Ks and Skorpions piled out. They spotted the large group, froze, then opened fire.

Chessie curses her decision to follow Lita roundly and vocally as the men spray them with sub-machine gun fire. At the far back of the group, closest the gunmen, the tall woman dropped into a crouch. Producing a pistol leveled at the assailants she shouts moments before opening fire, "Zawieszenia i zaprzestania!"

"Hey Chess, just like old times eh?" Warren said as he dropped his duffel and took cover next to Chessie, drawing the MP 7 concealed under his jacket and returning fire. "Alex, get ready to bound!"

Chessie nodded, a smile at the edge of her lips despite the situation as she picked her shots carefully to keep the block elevator shaft behind the targets as a backstop, "Perhaps we need meet in better places?"

Sparing a glance back to Lita, Chessie made sure no one was trying to flank them or kidnap the teenager again.

Ruadhrí dived for cover and pulled his sidearm. Choosing a target, he squeezed off five rounds and made a silent prayer for the enemy to have forgotten body armour.

"I was told we were gonna get spelled at, not shot at."

"How about next time we do it in a bar?" Warren asked as he prepared to push forward. "I know a few good pubs in the area."

"I've found a few myself," she says, putting another magazine in the well. Noting his poise Chessie proceeds to ask, "Which way you go?"

"Then we'll be doing a nice pub crawl when we get out of here. " Warren said as he smiled back at her. "You're flanking with me, watch my six. Rudy and Alex; cover us!"

With that, he tapped Chess on the shoulder and began to move

"I feel like made deal before," she grins. Thankful the gist of her message passed the language barrier, Czeslawa waited for him to take two steps before moving to follow with her pistol ready.

Lancaster London

0850 Hours

The gunmen swore profusely as the apparent tourists dove for cover and opened fire. One went down before the others could seek safety, and two retreated inside the elevator while the other two went running for hallways. They popped around the corners every few seconds, trying to get a shot on the team.

Basic layout of the lobby is: From the front doors, there is a large open area with a few pillars for cover, with two sunroom-type areas off to the sides of the pillars. The reception desk is in the middle of the lobby freestanding, and the elevators are behind it. There is one hallway to each side of the elevators.

Lita had disapparated to behind one of the pillars the moment she saw the guns, and was still hiding behind one, more frozen with fear than anything as unpleasant memories cycled in her mind like a looped playlist.

"Scratch that, you guys watch the halls, we'll clear the elevator." Warren said as he watch the gunmen run off. Reaching into his coat, he pulled out a flash-bang and tossed it towards the elevator doors.

When the men came from the elevator, Alex quickly identified weapons and dashed for cover behind one of the pillars, flipping the camera box open sideways into the unfolding SMG it actually was. Then he started taking pot shot bursts at the men who attacked them, quickly emptying his clip before he heard Warren yell to cover them.

"I got it!" Alex hollered, reloading the SMG then leaned around the outer side of the pillar to fire wildly at one of the ones who had gone for a hallway. Alex wasn't really aiming to hit, but more just to keep the guy pinned down. At the angle he was at, Alex shouldn't have to worry about the flashbang.

Chess held her fire, waiting for a better shot when it arose for her tiny peashooter and reminding herself there wasn't any officer involved shooting investigation to follow.

Hotel Lobby

0855 Hours

The two gunmen in the elevator were blinded by the flashbang, but the closing elevator doors saved them from more gunfire. The floor indicator blinked through levels one, two, and three before stopping at the fourth floor.

If they ceased fire soon enough, the group might have been able to hear the sound of retreating footsteps down each hallway. The one to the right had a sign indicating an exercise room, pool, and fire exit, while the left had a sign for an in-hour restaurant and a small bar.

Olivia had been lost in thought when the gunmen arrived.

So lost, in fact, that it took her several seconds to even register everyone was there, and by the time she'd gotten halfway close hunkering down behind cover, things were mostly over.

She cursed herself, and resolved to be less spacey in the future.

Chessie turns briefly to call out towards the pillar they'd been standing near, "Lita? Okay?"

"Which way?" she asks Warren as an aside, letting him make the call here. Unless it's a stupid one.

"I'll take half to the hall to track down the squirters, and it'll leave the other half here to pull security on the lobby." Warren said as he checked his mags. No point in getting split up.

"Uh huh." Lita said, as Chess called her name. "I'm here..."

"Shouldn't we send people after the guys in the elevator?" Ruadhrí brought up, pointing towards the closed doors.

"Okay?" she asks, again splitting her attention aside to Warren, "Sounds like good plan. Lobby covers elevator, hallway team blocks stairs when get to end."

The last part is mostly added for the one she doesn't recognize. It takes her a moment to realize an additional point, which she makes to Warren after surreptitiously patting her leg, "What about Clark? Not heard from?"

"No idea, we were supposed to meet him here then this happened." Warren said as he gestured with his free hand.

"Hm," she grunts. Glancing around, Chessie stands, "Should get going then, figure this sooner instead later."

Nodding his head in agreement, Warren leaps up from cover and made his way down the hall.
