Rocky kicked his ass so bad, it made him find Jesus.
And considering that Mr. T is a born-again Christian himself...
Saw this one last night. Thought it was pretty good though it definitely (and deliberately) retrod several beats from Rocky. Got to say though that Stallone actually can act if he puts his mind to it. Rocky is a basically simple character which I guess hides what a good job Stallone actually does of playing him.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Stallone carved a career niche playing the big action heroes with the guttural Bond One-Liner, but whenever he was in warmer films he proved to be more than capable of doing that too. It helps that his speech impediment facilitates a sense of earnestness and honesty about his characters
I also think it helped him that this wasn't 'his' project, he was just there to play a role. Other Rocky films he's written, starred in, directed, produced etc. This one he got to be just an actor.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Man, the opening in Sweden was tonight and I don't think I've seen a more emotional crowd.
It's a very moving film.
So which Rocky films are worth watching? Are the spinoff movies good?
Optimism is a duty. The Creed films are the only spinoff movies. As for the others, 1-3 tell a good story, 4 is enjoyable, but VERY 80s with the whole Russian boxer. 5 isnt as bad as some people say, but it's also more of a lesser entry in the series. Rocky Balboa (or Rocky 6 if you prefer) is closer to the first one, and highly recommended.

I don't think it was ever officially mentioned, but when Stallone was asked what happened to all of Rocky's opponents besides Apollo, Drago returned to Russia in disgrace and killed himself.
Clubber Lang became a televangelist and boxing commentator.
My various fanfics.
