…That was his best episode in a while. Some skits, but not overdone, and the intro is hilarious.

I'm surprised nobody tried to remake this film, really. surprised

Personally I had to pause the video for a while when he called Sean Connery and idiot. I just couldn’t stop thinking “Bit rich coming from you.” That’s the problem with having a comic style that’s so steeped in snarking at people. If you fuck up yourself it loses a lot of its bite.

[up] What was the context of his idiot remark?

The intro sums up all the big roles Sean Connery has turned down in favor of less-than-stellar films. It ends with "him" saying "I think I should retire" and his agent (?) saying "I think you're an idiot."

Surpisingly, the Nostalgia Critic panel at Connecticon yesterday was ... 100% drama-free. There were no questions about the #notsoawesome document, nor were there any simple discussion about it. We did get more information on the 10th anniversary event, but I will refrain from sharing that until they officially announce it or if a video of the panel is uploaded.

My guess is that most of the people who knew or cared about the scandal simply didn't go.

I mean I didn't go to any of their signings, so maybe people just asked them about it then?

[up] Possible, though I haven't read anything about it on Twitter and whatnot.

We did get more information on the 10th anniversary event

Hm, from what I've heard, it seems that the 10th anniversary film will be rebooted into a non-NC movie. Or did they reveal something else?

Basically what the tweet says. It's a horror movie (with some comedy) unrelated to any NC character that the Walkers are writing, and they're going to try to make it a REAL movie this time, with a regular length, and professional equipment than the specials. But they're gonna have to try VERY hard to convince me that that promise is for real!

It's gonna be an awkward 10th anniversary with the Critic trying to get the band back together.

[up][up] As for the "professional eqiupment," I can see that. They did buy new cameras and were going to hire some external crew for what was originally supposed to be the 10th anniversary special.

It really sucks that TLOEG was the last Sean Connery film.

League is weird as a failed adaptation. It takes the premise of the comics, but that's it; even half of the Gentlemen themselves are taken from other copyrights. They do not share a single plot point other than having Moriarty as a scheming villain. That need not be bad; the comics wouldn't work as a film because they are rather scattershot, and their plot is pretty weak generally. Though I suspect the real reason for rewriting them was to avoid how they tackled real issues of the time, not to mention explicit sex. They likely wanted a lighter, campier action piece.

But as he notes, they failed completely. The film acts as though it has the strong characters and conflicts of the comics, but has no substance to back the endless dialogue. That is what makes it sink so bad.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

Not to mention that their fictional origin didn't really even matter outside of a few scenes.

MI 2 is indeed the weakest in the series. Funny how the franchise is now considered one of the greatest action movie sagas out there, even beating the recent 007 films.

Not that I disagree; far from it.

I actually like the action of MI 2 though. But yeah Woo should stick to solo heroes than team group.

Also The Last Samurai is a good movie.

Mission impossible is a rare franchise that has had 6 movies and all but one have been good (I haven't seen Fallout but I've heard good things)

You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price.
