About Muffet being similar to Porky: they are purple, are obsessed with food and money, and have giant spider-themed assistants.

I kinda see your point, but like Muffet only wants money to support her spiders, and Porky is greedy for the sake of it.

Plus Porky is more red than purple.

Also what spider themed assistant does Porky have? All I recall are his mechs.

so, uh, weird follow up on the soundcloud "leak". i went back to show it to a friend who is into deltarune, and might enjoy these toby sound-a-like songs, but the account is now all dark with no name, and only has 1 track on it now, which wasn't there before. links here

and when i tried looking up the name of the original "leak" poster, uz Inu, I found a different account named U.Z. Inu, which is only a few days old, and has like 30 different tracks on it, all referencing darkness in some way. these all seem to be uniuqie songs, which also sound like convincing toby sound alikes, if all being "off". weird rabbit hole this is becoming. links here

Considering that the first account was already confirmed to be a fake, I get the feeling that this is someone using an ARG to promote their own fan project. That's my best guess, anyway.

Rational brain: Oh, "coming soon", probably just a new placeholder date. Last we heard, the team's been working mostly on chapter 3 and 4, no word on 5 yet, so it's still probably a good ways off.

Yeah, a year seems like a good minimum. Curious as to how Toby will promote the release when it happens.

Same, earliest I expect is a repeat of Chapter 2's reveal/release at the same time next year. Probably then because the best way to advertise this kind of thing, evidently, are the little events Toby's been doing these past couple years around the time of Undertale's anniversary. It's become a fandom holiday and the equivalent of a Nintendo Direct, in a way.

Honestly, when he said nothing was coming out this year, I pictured Toby then saying that it's coming out January 1st.

So, I first played through Chapter 2 of Deltarune blind. I ended up missing out on the bonus boss because, during my first fight with Spamton, my reaction to him was something along the lines of "AAAAAAAAAAAA KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT". I recently went back and replayed Chapter 2, dealt with Spamton peacefully, and took on the bonus Boss for myself.

I've heard Spamton described as a mix of funny and creepy, but for me he's pretty much just creepy. And seeing his NEO form reinforced that. Even Kris seems scared of him. The NEO fight was pretty challenging for me. I made it through on my first try, but just barely. I burned through a lot of my healing items, and I may not have made it at all if I hadn't read that the Mannequin and Torn Bowtie reduce the damage you take from him. I... actually felt kind of bad for him after the fight. He just seemed so excited when he thought the Delta Warriors were trying to be his friends. And Ralsei seemed determined to avoid having a real conversation about the whole thing. I'm not sure what, but I think he's hiding something.

Eh, I'm still more fond of the theory that he just thinks that everyone else knows as much as he does. Considering that Ralsei comes from the "main" Dark Fountain, has greater knowledge about the properties of them (e.g. the Roaring), and is implied to have been around for a good length of time before the events of the game, it'd make sense that he's just used to the information he has and as a result approaches everything from the perspective of that. If anything, I think that at worst, he'd be responsible for a Nice Job Breaking It, Hero situation.

I have to agree, I have no love for Spamton at all and I do not understand even a fraction of the love the fanbase has for him.

So I replayed the weird route, and I gotta say, it's just as unnervingly interesting as the first time I played it. As I said last time, Toby is playing with fire with how realistic the emotional manipulation that Kris is doing, or rather the player.

Thinking on it, Ralsei is certainly shifty and knows more than he lets on, but I'm placing my bets on him being on Kris's side.

I fully expect continuing on the Weird route will have it's consequences what with Berdly being dead and all, and I get the feeling that Noelle will attempt to rebel and destroy us.

I look forward to it. Like the player being victorious here and keeping Noelle on a leash and getting away with murder is a bit different than teaming up with Chara, going on a supervillain rampage, and blowing up the world.

And if Toby goes down that route, well it's certainly going to keep the controversy.

Is the Weird Route controversial? It felt to us like everyone was on the same page about it — it's creepy as hell, which is good because that's what it's trying to do, and it's a brilliant source of ideas for all those flavors of fan works that involve making the characters suffer.
