Because that's the pronunciation. They just spelled it in the non-French way.

Yeah, it's just an alternate spelling of the same name.

But now I'm reflecting that a manga reader could plausibly not realize that, and think it should be pronounced like 'Jeans', and therefore think that 'John' is far more wrong than it actually is. And therefore, would more annoyed over it than one should.

Because "Jean" is a femine name. In Chinese we have a more muscular "Rang".

I blame /a/'s fascination with spaghetti for why I developed over-protective tendency over Jean. It will be a while before I stop seeing the "Jean is cool" meme as trolling.

Not that I'm complaining, but Uta Pri (still) hasn't overtaken Titans even though Uta Pri 05 already out. Maybe late reaction this week.

Also, considering the crazy number of Titans OP parodies, I now expect the OST to hit number one on the chart.

Consider that there is a Jean in Claymore, it is better NOT to use Jean. There will be confusions when they are not even pronounced the same.

So because somebody in an unrelated series has a name that's spelt the same, the name shouldn't be used? Is that what you're saying?

I like Claymore (a lot) though I don't remember their names anymore. Claymore's Jean is so memorable that Titan's Jean will be mistaken for Claymore's Jean?

SnK is regarded as Claymore's spiritual successor. Most of fandom (on my side) was drawn due to its similarity with Claymore.

/why am I even saying this? They don't have the translation problem...

(In regards to the popularity of Attack on Titan conversation) The ever-trustworthy Anime Power Rankings have Titan on top so far, at least among Western anime bloggers.

Valvrave is getting a lot of attention too, but mostly because of the train wreck factor.

I was hoping that Swim Bros. would distract the haters for a bit longer.

Oh well, at least, it looks like Jean's cool with anons now. /still suspicious But, eh.

I saw some people who actualy watch it cause they belive it's good (world is full of mysteries).

Personaly I think Gargantia is better writen anime, but I guess Titans have ability appeal broader audience.
