It might help if you gave a short description of what were doing in the Dark Dungeons game. I know it would help me come up with more posts.

I'm confused by your statement.

In most D&D games, the players have a GM who gives them a basic description of where they are and what they have to do and then tells them if they're successful in certain actions after they attempt them.

This. I'm not sure if we're in a dungeon and just picking off small fry, or fighting some epic battle against the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog, or what.
