Liked the series, liked Future, didn’t really like the movie.
I liked all of them overall, I just felt like the concepts and ideas outweighed the actual execution.
I'm baffled by a lot of the hate Future received, though.
Consider me the odd one out then: As far as I’m concerned Future is where SU went from good to great.

I liked it all. Future isnt where I wanted it to go, but I respect that they went there and I didnt enjoy it any less than the rest of the show.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireI feel like Future needed to be twice as long as it was to really get the job done.
I think the problem with Future is that a common issue people had with SU is that nesrly everything was from Steven's POV, so we often missed some interesting stories because he wasn't around for them. Future doubles down on this by focusing almost entirely on Steven and his trauma. It's not a bad plot idea but underwhelming for a send-off season.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Regular Steven Universe was great, it approached and addresses some topics that no other show would or was willing to at the time.
The movie was great, it told a compelling story and I love musicals.
Future is a masterpiece that made me seriously reflect on this entire genre of fiction in a way I haven't felt since Mob Psycho 100, and that is the highest praise I can give.
I genuinely think Future is the moment where Steven Universe went from a fantastic and boundary-pushing kid's cartoon to a work of art that should be studied in school (though that would require watching all of Steven Universe beforehand, so it wouldn't be practical to do that).

I enjoyed Future. I wish it had more episodes to both better explore its ideas (they really could have gone a lot deeper in exploring Steven's trauma, and I was really hoping for the final episode to be a "Helga on the Couch"-type deal where we get to see Steven in therapy and muse on everything before packing his things to leave Beach City), as well as follow up more on world and character elements outside of Steven. And part of me feels like The Movie worked better as a conclusion in some ways (the final SU production being a musical just works). But overall, it was a satisfying end to the show. Not great, but satisfying.

I enjoyed the main series, the movie, and Future. I liked the ambitious themes all parts were going for and I think the execution worked much more often than not.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I'm alright with all three, though I have to admit liking Future and Change Your Mind the most.
Yeah the buildup to Steven's breakdown was great, but there wasn't enough time to explore the follow up.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.I like where we left off in Future regarding Steven's breakdown and healing, who knows if he'll ever truly recover but he's free of the burdens he's had for long.
As for Future my only gripe is that Peedee didn't have a major role, considering his cynical view of the world and work in his spotlight episode is something he could relate to Steven regarding the growing cynicism of the latter.
Also Spinel's situation with the Diamonds still feels icky, as if no problem she had was actually solved and neither was the Diamonds' attachment, they just both got Replacement Goldfish'd
"Bingo! If two species hate each other, they will wipe each other out on their own."The resolution with Spinel left a terrible taste in my mouth. I'm not on the "fuck the Diamonds" train as much as others but that moment really stands out to me. Maybe if if didn't reprise "Let Us Adore You" while still maintaining its deliberately uncomfortable meaning, it wouldn't be as bad.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I remember early in the original show's run, where I was certain that Peedee, Steven, and Connie would be this little trio (Peedee as the cynic, Steven as the optimist, and Connie as a balance between that), and that would be how some of the lighter, town-centered episodes would function. Still a bit sad that such a dynamic never happened.
And yes, Spinel going with the Diamonds will forever stand as one of the most questionable moments I've ever seen in this show.

Spinel was, I think, supposed to be a deliberately unsolveable problem. She's not Steven's problem and she shouldn't be, and she even admits herself that she doesn't really know why she's lashing out at him so much. That's one of the things about people who act like that. Sometimes they just kinda glom onto someone who has no responsibility for their problems and they try and make their problems that person's responsibility.
If the movie at least admitted that the Diamonds weren't really a great solution for the Spinel problem but that they were a better solution than just dumping it on Steven, that would have gone a long way to help. Like, at the very least, the Diamonds aren't going to up and die of old age or whatever.

Not Three Laws compliant.Well, what were you expecting them to do with Spinel afterwards?
(dont say shatter do not say shatter)
New theme music also a boxPut into a spaceship and taken to a empty and peaceful planet, Planet Hulk style?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Unfortunately, that's the exact wrong solution for her. I mean, part of her problem is literally that she was abandoned for 5,000 years, I think abandoning her again might just make things worse.
Edited, made a mistake on the timespan.

I'll think you're a meanie to poor little hurt Spinel

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢My mistake, edited.
But yeah, the Diamonds kind of are the best choice for Spinel at the end of the movie (especially since it's an alternative to the Diamonds just...moving in on Earth which is also a really bad option), it's just the way it was framed was kind of bleh.
Not Three Laws compliant.
I honestly think Future went far too far into the edgy direction with Steven's breakdown
