Laura swiftly coiled himself in defense, taking a few deep cuts right down his back rather than to... say, his face?
Still a bit confused, Clara lightly pet him on the head to reassure him.
“Laura! Use Vine Whip! .....I guess. I think this is a battle now, right?”
Hop on Pokémon Infinite Fusion"I think so," the Grunt commented, "I mean we locked eyes and supposedly you're a trainer."
The Ratticate is knocked about by various whips, <Ow!>
"Use bite!"
The Ratticate closed the distance and attempted to bite Laura.
Laura turned his back, hoping he’d only feel a couple of sharp nicks on his tail. He was wrong. The Raticate had bitten into his back, and he was desperately trying to cling on to his stamina.
“AaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAGH! Off! Getoffgetoffgetoffgetoff!!”
Clara panicked for a second, returning the screeching Servine to his pokeball and haphazardly throwing another; this one contained an Alcremie.
“I- um- er- Audnoi! I don’t even know anymore! Is Raticate meant to do that?”

Hop on Pokémon Infinite Fusion<Do you see these teeth? They bite things, I know how to bite people! It's not a hard thing to do!> The Raticate notes with increasing frustration.
The Grunt sighs, "Are you sure you are a trainer? Come on that Raticate is my only mon and he's handling himself very well!"
The Raticate looks very proud of himself, there is a opening.
Clara is unimpressed by the Captain Obvious answer she’s given.
“That’s not what I- you- t- sigh........ Draining Kiss, Audnoi.”
The Alcremie leans in closer to Raticate.
Hop on Pokémon Infinite Fusionthe Raticate is hit with the draining kiss and gets down to the red, <Ow! Ow! Ow!>
It turns around, curls a paw into a fist and throws it right at Audnoi.
A sizable chunk of heavy cream flies off from the blow, splattering everywhere. Audnoi’s entire lower right side of her face is all over the pier and Clara, and neither of them are pleased. Also, ew.
“This is gonna take an eternity to wash out... nevermind that. Audnoi, uh... Tackle, I guess.”
Hop on Pokémon Infinite FusionThe Raticate is struck by the tackle, turns, and flops over.
The Grunt grumbles and picks up her Raticate, before rushing off, swearing vengeance.
Clara watches the grunt rush off elsewhere.
“Sorry about the mess! If you want I can- oh, she’s gone.
....I should probably clean up all the Alcremie bits that are everywhere.”
Hop on Pokémon Infinite FusionAlrighty that's your test, we're deliberating on the final verdict but so far so good. Looks like it's fine, we'll be back with a final verdict soon enough.
~Weeabooeria Okay deliberation has been happening and we'd like to note the following:
-Try to give the mons other than your PC some characterization too
-Tone down the self-depreciation. It makes us... Jumpy
-Clarify the ethnicity - is it referring to what most people assume your character is? What your character is like in human form? Both? Something else entirely?
That said... there were no HUGE issues and you did fine on the test so welcome aboard.

Time Zone: BST
Name: Hoops
Age: 18
Gender: Non-Binary
Ethnicity: White
Appearance: Fairly androgynous facial features. Clean shaven. Blue and purple hair cut short, barely going past the ears. Grey eyes. Wears a customised variant of the Galar Gym Challenge uniform, which is designed to look like Kecleon. Also wears a black crop top hoodie over the top of the uniform. Carries a plain brown rucksack. Quite short overall, about 5’5’’, and skinny.
Organization Ties: None
Region of origin: Ballonlea, Galar
Backstory: Hoops grew up as the child to a single father, who had tried to become a successful trainer for much of his life but failed. He developed the belief that his child should do what he felt he should have, and so began pushing Hoops to be a trainer from a young age. From the moment Hoops received their first pokemon, they were taught that the most important thing was that they and their pokemon became the strongest in the world. Although the extent of their strength is unclear, it means that they became unable to see battles as fun, only as something to be won seriously. Hoops did not like their father, and in a small act of defiance opted to ignore their father’s advice to only train strong pokemon, and only caught smaller, weaker pokemon to prove that they could be strong. They care deeply for their pokemon and see them as close friends, but can become frustrated if they feel they are losing too much or not pulling their weight. Eventually, the borderline emotional abuse and neglect became too much for them, and they fled from their childhood home, swearing not to return. Two years later they learned their father had died from a heart attack, and because no-one around had been around it was days before the body was found. Hoops believed that, despite the contentious relationship with their father, the best way to honour his memory was to embrace the things they had learned as a child. To place winning and being strong above all else.
Mons:
Species: Kecleon
Nickname: Kec
Gender: Male
Ability: Protean
Personality/Bio: Hoops first pokemon, who was with them for most of their childhood. They are just as competitive as him, and share the same desire to win above all else. As the pokemon that knows Hoops best, he can usually tell when they are upset, and holds on to small items that he finds while travelling to give to them in an attempt to cheer them up. He began doing this for the other pokemon in the party, and eventually became a sort of team dad.
Species: Ledian
Nickname: Led
Gender: Female
Ability: Swarm
Personality/Bio: While she cares a lot about her trainer and really tries hard in battle, Led is easily distracted, even in the middle of battles, which can make her a little unreliable. When she is paying attention, she focuses on what her opponents are doing because she likes to watch them use their moves. This makes her great at spotting and remembering patterns, as she is usually the only one that focuses on such things.
Species: Salandit
Nickname: Sal
Gender: Male
Ability: Corrosion
Personality/Bio: An extremely proud pokemon who likes to think that everyone around him exists solely to deal with his issues. He hates anyone pointing out that he can’t evolve, seeing it as an insult to his worth - this essentially activates his Berserk Button. Though he loves winning like the rest of the team, he takes losses especially hard, as he worries that without the ability to evolve he has already reached his full potential.
Species: Nickit
Nickname: Kit
Gender: Male
Ability: Run Away
Personality/Bio: The most recent edition to Hoops’ team - the one thing his father left to him in his will. He is cowardly, and often requires a lot of coaxing to even begin a battle, and once he starts Kit spends more time trying to dodge attacks than attacking. The exception to this is if he feels his trainer or teammates are in danger, at which point it will forget its fear and go all out, even if he can’t often win. He carries a letter from Hoops’ father, but until now Hoops refuses to open it.
Species: Sudowoodo
Nickname: Sud
Gender: Female
Ability: Sturdy
Personality/Bio: Sud likes to think of herself as the best at defending in the world, so her battle style is to try and wear out the opponent by withstanding its attacks then counterattacking. This strategy sometimes works and sometimes fails, but Sud refuses to change. She begged Hoops to teach her Iron Defense just so she could be better at withstanding attacks. When not battling, she is a huge glutton, and will regularly steal her teammates' food
Species: Chatot
Nickname: Tot
Gender: Male
Ability: Tangled Feet
Personality/Bio: Tot is probably the most normal and well adjusted member of Hoops’ team, and thinks of himself as an only sane man in the group. He does however love to sing and dance, and does this frequently when he thinks no-one is watching. He’s pretty good as well, though he would be mortified if he knew people saw him as anything other than a stoic cool guy.

~theoncominghoop you get tested RIGHT NAOW
theoncominghoop's test
-You notice a Nikit trying to steal from your pockets. What do you do? please write your reaction as you would in-rp-
Contact Me!"What? A Nickit?" Hoops says, surprised. They goes to pull the creature off of them, then hesitates.
"On second thoughts... Kit, come out!"
They throws one of their pokeballs, and another Nickit appears on the ground in front of them. Upon seeing his prospective opponent he yelps, and runs to hide on the other side of Hoops.
Hoops sighs. "Come on Kit, you can do it. He's just like you, so I'm sure you can win against him. Use Quick Attack!"
Kit hesitates, then steals himself and launches at the enemy Nickit.

~theoncominghoop 's Test
-The Nickit staggers back-
Nickit: <Ow! Traitor!>
-They respond with a Thief-
Contact Me!Kit is knocked to the ground by the attack. He doesn't carry an item, so there is nothing to steal. He gets to his feet shakily and stares down the Nickit.
<Not a traitor. I've always been with humans.>
Hoops, not being able to understand pokemon and thus being aware of the conversation says: "Good work Kit. See how much stronger you're getting? Now use Beat Up!"
Kit feels the support of his teammates behind him and runs towards his opponent, unleashing six blows.
~theoncominghoop 's Test
-the Nikit is smacked around. It's at about half health-
Nickit: <Owowowowowow! No, I meant the stealing part! Stealing is part of our culture, man!>
-They use a Foul Play-
Contact Me!The move hits Kit hard, sending him down to red health level.
<It's fine if you want to steal. But you aren't going to steal from my trainer!>
Hoops looks down at their pokemon. "Don't give up, Kit. I believe you can win this. Use Hone Claws and Beat Up one more time!"
Kit looks at the other Nickit, and a wave of fear passes through him. It would be so easy for him to run away, he thinks. But he looks up at Hoops, who gives him a reassuring nod.
"It's okay if you lose this time," Hoops reassures him. "Because you're getting stronger, and some day you'll be amazing."
Kit nods back, and focuses his strength before once again channelling the power of his teammates to attack this Nickit with Beat Up.

"There are a lot of situations like that," The Plasma Grunt notes, she looks to the Ratticate and the Servine.
"Uh... Tackle?"
<Riiiight...> The Ratticate says before charging right at the Servine.
