To make it easier for the players of the forum RP Star Wars: The Curse Of Qalydon (signup thread located here, discussion thread here) to keep track of all the various elements of setting and plot being introduced for this game, I have started this thread to serve as a sort of index for the various things which you need to know or will learn of during the course of this game. Here shall be listed important locations, events, nonplayer characters, creatures, droids, ships and anything else worthy of note which doesn't fit into those particular categories. Some of these come from the actual Star Wars canon, but most are original.

The players are free to create events, npcs and miscellaneous items of their own. This is a collaborative effort, after all, and they are free to do so at any point in the game—provided, of course, that the stuff they come up with doesn't contradict events which have already occurred.

This post shall serve as an index for all future material that appears in this thread, allowing you easy access to the information.

The New Sith Empire

Established centuries ago by Darth Ruin, the New Sith Empire has expanded and shrunk many times throughout the course of the war. At present, however, the Empire controls a significant fraction of the known galaxy; everything south of the Perlemian Trade Route and north of the Corellian Run, from the Outer Rim through the Inner Rim, is Imperial territory at the time of this game. to prevent the Sith from using these hyperlanes to strike at Coruscant and the other Core Worlds, the Republic Navy has stationed interdiction fleets and mass shadow mines along both trade routes; any starships without Republic IFF transponders travelling along these routes will be pulled out of hyperspace, leaving them surprised and vulnerable to attack.

Fighting is fiercest along the rimward edge of the Perlemian, for the Sith were forced out of their ancestral territory in the Esstran sector twenty years before by their defeat at the Battle of Corbos. Knowing just how important that the worlds of Korriban, Ziost and Dromund Kaas are to any iteration of the Sith, the Jedi and the Republic are doing everything in their power to keep their foes out of that region of space.

Under Darth Ruin the Sith Empire’s capital was the planet Roon, and under the Dark Underlord it was instead Malrev IV. Since the Underlord’s demise, it is not clear what planet—if any—now acts as the Empire’s seat of government.

Creature: Myonoctiss

The Myonoctiss is a large saurian predator, typically measuring four to six metres from snout to tail tip, and found nearly exclusively in deep cave systems. It propels itself on six powerful clawed legs used for gripping slick cave floors and walls. The front pair of legs is enlarged to properly handle the extra weight of its forward claws, which the Myonoctiss uses to smash both prey and obstacles. The Myonoctiss's head is roughly diamond-shaped, sitting on a thick and expandable neck, and is surrounded by a frill of finneons. Its strong jaws take up much of its head, its "teeth" composed of shearing bony plates evolved for punching through natural defenses. Its eyes are heavily recessed, and almost vestigial, while its ears are larger membranous pits just behind the eye sockets, and its nostrils are flared, protected by a bony ridge. Its hard scales have a dull jet black coloration, while its numerous dorsal finneons are slightly glossy. Both have an element in its hunting tactics, as camouflage and as a lure, respectively.

An active hunter, the Myonoctiss has a unique tactic utilising its finneons, which have bioluminescent membranes sheathed between them. Once in front of and facing larger prey, it rears up and spreads the finneons to display a blinding (for cave levels of light) flash of light, then guts the victim with its claws once they're distracted. Such displays are also used in mating and territorial dominance rituals. Otherwise, the creature hunts and senses the way through its environment through smell, hearing, and vibration. They communicate through a combination of stomps and fluting cries of surprising variety.

The Myonoctiss are mostly concentrated in cave systems within life-supporting planets of the Hevvrol sector, but have been found as far away as Enarc. Despite their territorial disposition, they have been known to show curiosity towards Force-users, and even sometimes allow them through their area.

Nice work, Col.

Droid: Triskelion-series Security Droid

A common sight throughout the galaxy, Triskelion droids—or Trixie droids, as they are sometimes known—are used by numerous beings as bodyguards, security personnel, bouncers and a variety of other uses. From the waist up these machines are humanoid, having a torso, two arms and a head with minimalistic facial features; instead of two legs, however, a Trixie stands on three long segmented legs like those of an insect. The droid’s upper body can rotate through 360 degrees, allowing it to face in any direction without having to move its legs, and its tripod design gives the Triskelion greater stability than that enjoyed by purely humanoid droids. They have no integrated weapons systems, but their hands are perfectly capable of holding a wide variety of blasters. Triskelion droids are not battle droids, and as such their armour plating is not as thick or durable as that of more dedicated combat units; nevertheless, they can take a fair amount of punishment before being destroyed.

A Triskelion stands 1.8 metres in height and weighs 300 pounds. Their default programming allows them to speak both Binary and Basic, and they can be modified to understand one other language by their owners. Many droids of this model are employed by the Hosk Station Security Force, where they are commonly armed with basic blaster rifles.

Important Individuals: The Jedi High Council

The twelve Jedi Masters who collectively act as leaders of the Jedi Order; alongside the Supreme Chancellor, they have put together an elite strike team (the players) to infiltrate the Sith Empire and take down the aspiring Dark Lord Rath Skorrow. At present only three of the twelve Masters who make up the Council are known; should they wish, players may create other Masters to fill out its ranks.

Grem Tharrus

A wise and patient Anx, Grem Tharrus has served as Grand Master of the Jedi Order for twenty years and was a member of the High Council for twenty more before that. Having served on the front lines as a Jedi Guardian during the reign of the Dark Underlord, Master Tharrus knows all too well the unspeakable horror that the Sith could unleash if they were ever able to put aside their petty rivalries and unite against their common foe. As such, he will take whatever actions necessary to ensure that this never happens—and if assassination is the only way to keep Rath Skorrow from uniting his fellow Sith Lords and unleashing a military offensive that would leave countless billions dead at the very least, then so be it.

Koyi Fortuna

Respected throughout the Jedi Order for her mastery of the Force and for being highly skilled in a number of fields, Master Koyi Fortuna rose to her position from the depths of ignominy. Born a slave in the underground cities of the tidally-locked planet Ryloth, this Rutian Twi’lek was forced to conceal her gift for fear of being discovered and taken by the occupying forces of the Sith Empire; her parents managed to smuggle her offworld in the cargo hold of a spice freighter, and eventually she was found by a knight errant who recognized her strong affinity for the Force and trained her in the ways of the Jedi. It was her vision of Coruscant in flames and the galaxy sinking into darkness that spurred the High Council into organizing the elite task force to eliminate Skorrow.

Vaal Met

A Jedi Consular of the Krevaaki species, Master Vaal Met is a cunning diplomat and mediator; few beings outside of his race can read the Jedi Master’s facial expressions owing to the fact that his face is composed of rigid and inflexible plates of chitin, a fact which gives him a considerable advantage in parley and similar situations. He would much rather talk things through than resort to violence if at all possible, but this does not mean that he is not an effective warrior nevertheless—in times of trouble and danger, Master Met will readily put his personal preferences aside and draw his lightsaber in defence of the innocent without a moment’s hesitation. He believes that not all of the Force Adepts who serve the Sith Empire are completely irredeemable, and that surely some can be convinced to turn back from their dark path before it consumes them utterly; that so few do seems to sadden him greatly. He does not approve of the proposed strike team or its mission of assassination, but he understands the necessity of it—while the Dark Jedi and lesser Sith that serve the Empire can be turned to the light, the Sith Lords whom they serve are not so easily swayed.

Important Individuals: The Senate

Supreme Chancellor Doram Delal

Though not a member of the Jedi Order, Doram Delal is nevertheless a close friend of the Order and an acquaintance of several members of the High Council. While his species, the Ithorians, are best known for their pacifism, as Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic Doram Delal has proven an able and effective wartime leader, maintaining order in the Senate and preventing panic from spreading throughout the worlds of the Republic. Officially, he has no involvement in or knowledge of the strike team’s activities; unofficially, however, Delal had a significant hand in its creation and their activities have his tacit approval.

Cassius Valorum

Also called the Hero of Corbos, General Cassius Valorum is the Galactic Republic’s Minister of Defence, making him commander-in-chief for the entire Republic Military. A human male born to a prestigious family on Coruscant, Cassius Valorum has spent his entire life in the military—in defiance of the wishes of his senator father, who wanted him to go into politics—and rose through the ranks on skill and merit rather than relying on his family’s connections. His cunning mind and knack for devising effective strategies and tactics saw him win a number of battles that the Republic might otherwise have lost. He was the architect of the Republic’s stunning victory at the Battle of Corbos, and it was this successful mission that saw him promoted to the office of Minster of Defence.

Karrosk Ark’rey

A Bothan from Kothlis, Karrosk Ark’rey was the Director of Republic Intelligence at the time of the Battle of Corbos. Under his leadership, Republic Intelligence rooted out a vast network of Sith spies operating within Republic space and launched a successful counterintelligence operation to feed these infiltrators false information. Ark’rey’s efforts to compromise the Sith spy network played a large role in the success of the Battle of Corbos; the Sith Lords who fell into this trap would never have taken the bait if Karrosk and his men hadn’t been able to make it look convincing.

The Battle of Corbos

A major victory for the Jedi and the Republic, the Battle of Corbos was the brainchild of General Cassius Valorum and the battle which forced the Sith Empire out of the Esstran sector. Knowing the planet’s history and its significance to both the Jedi and the Sith, Cassius cooperated with Jedi Master Grem Tharrus and Republic Intelligence director Karrosk Ark’rey to feed false information to the Sith spy network operating in Republic space, spreading rumours that Tharrus and the other members of the Jedi High Council would be holding a conclave on Corbos. All of the Order’s senior Masters would be in attendance, along with several members of the Ministry of Defence and the Admiralty Board.

The spies took the bait, and unable to pass up such a large and tempting target no less than fifteen separate Sith Lords sent their fleets to Corbos, hoping to bombard the planet from orbit and deal the Jedi Order a blow from which it would never recover. This had been exactly what Cassius had been waiting for, however, and once the Sith armada had entered the system he sprung his trap: the Corbos system had been mined extensively, wreaking havoc upon the Sith fleets as they exited hyperspace. Cassius’ forces jumped into the system even as the Sith were still reeling, using interdictors placed at key points to prevent the Sith from fleeing; at the same time the Jedi opened up with hastily-prepared anti-orbital guns. The Sith had been caught between a hammer and anvil, and the Republic pounded on them mercilessly; within three hours, the Republic fleet had suffered only minor casualties while the entire Sith armada had been wiped out.

This crushing defeat had severely weakened the Sith presence in the Esstran sector, and over the next three weeks the Republic had managed to push the Empire all the way back behind the Perlemian Trade Route. The loss of worlds like Korriban and Ziost was a massive blow to Sith morale, and in the twenty years since the Battle they have made numerous attempts to reclaim the sector; thus far, they have had no success.

Of the fifteen Sith Lords who participated in the Battle of Corbos, only one is known to have survived—Holtek-Hal, a Draethos marauder who managed to kill fifty Jedi onboard the cruiser Deliverance before fleeing in a stolen shuttle despite having been fatally shot through the heart.

Active Sith: Gaol Grimm

A man so scarred and deformed by a lifetime of battle and calling upon the dark side of the Force that he’s scarcely recognizable as a human being, Gaol Grimm is the first apprentice of the Sith Lord Zorlok Karamak. Holding the titles of High Zealot and Black Hand, he is the second most powerful individual in the Principality of Karnak after the Brothers themselves, and serves as the primary enforcer of their will; his word is law within the Principality and none save his Masters may contradict it without consequence. Several years ago Gaol Grimm took part in a mission to retrieve several Sith artefacts from a complex of ancient ruins; before he and his fellow Sith could get their hands on these artefacts, however, a band of Mandalorians stumbled onto the complex. A long, drawn-out battle ensued, which ended with all but one of the Mandos dead; but before the Sith could kill this woman, she detonated a series of explosive charges which brought the entire complex down on their heads. Grimm was the only one to crawl out of there alive, but his lungs were badly damaged and he is now forced to wear a cumbersome respirator in order to survive. His reliance upon this device should not be mistaken for weakness, however; Gaol Grimm is a vicious combatant who has slain countless foes over the years, and more than a few of his victims were Jedi Masters.
