Anyway, even Boros couldn't make Saitama get serious. But he did get him to use a super move, which is already pretty cool.

I find that the manga's interesting because it actively portrays the trope of Boring Invincible Hero. Yes, I know, Onepunch is mostly a comedy manga and yes, it's an Affectionate Parody of this very trope, but there are genuinely serious scenes such as the Sea King attack on the shelter. We know that Saitama is going to come in and save everyone. We know exactly what's going to happen yet I for one still find myself intrigued during the scene. I think the comedy in the series is great, but the way the drama is pulled off is fascinating.

I love this series (I gained so much respect for Murata as a draftsman after reading this), but I wish certain chapters weren't so decompressed in their pacing. IIRC one was just a really long sequence depicting a character taking off from a building. i mean, really?

I Alone...
One thing I'm really digging about this manga, after finally getting into it, is the overarching theme of "Your abilities don't make you a hero, your attitude does." There are so many heroes who end up being bad people with good publicity. And while Saitama basically is the most hax thing in the series's universe, it's clear he's a stalwart hero not just because he wins, but because of why he's bothering to be a hero to begin with, and how it shines through even with his piss-poor social skills.

I just can't get enough of Saitama's nonplussed "are you an idiot"/"what the fuck are you even talking about" expressions. He's like The Dude with broken superpowers.
