I swear these anime arena brawler games are made with no budget.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""Who needs budget? These stupid weebs will eat it with a spoon, anyway."
My various fanfics.They aren't.
Think of them as the video game adaptations of movies, Japanese edition.
I can't believe Pokken retains the crown of "best 3D arena fighting game", when only half of its gameplay is 3D arena-style.
My Hero One's Justice, Kill la Kill IF, and this game all looked fine to me?
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!And they generally get at most mediocre reviews.
Which is par for the course for these types of tie-in games.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The fact they went with an arena fighter, rather than the far more thematically appropiate superhero sandbox, shows how much tought is spend in the creation of those games.
Budget =/= popular with the critics =/= level of enjoyment.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!It just baffles me that they actually dubbed the One Punch Man and Kill la Kill games but not My Hero Academia.
...that is a bit strange now that you mention it. Much as I hate to admit it My Hero beats those two in popularity by far.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Thereβs not really much to admit there in a basic acknowledgement of popularity.
The funniest thing Iβve seen about this game is how someone controlling Child Emperor beat a Saitama player by just outrunning him. Just kept dashing the entire game with Saitama too slow to catch up.
That is both hilariously broken & a sad showing of much work they put into the combat of these games.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That there actually is a way to beat Saitama at all is amusing.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!That's true.
Even if the only way is to literally run away.
But wouldn't you still need to do enough damage to him that his health bar is lower than yours before you can run?
One Strip! One Strip! You forget you have to a control a weaker character before Saitama comes in.
And I donβt he heals the health bar once he arrives.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."How the hell is Garou still alive? He got beat up badly by watchdog man, bang and bomb beat the absolute shit out of him, royal ripper slashed him to death, Overgrown Rover directly blasted him twice and he didnβt get burned to death.Same with Orochi who also stabbed him, Darkshine broke his chest etc.
You can't beat him, Saitama always wins even if you outrun him iirc.
Secret SignatureI think his obsession is approaching Saitama levels, so he's starting to unlock similar mechanisms, though less strong and more focused on "not losing" than "winning".
Or the real answer is because he has plot armor iβm sick of him.
It's ok if you don't like him as a character, but his obsession-fueled, innatural growth is an explicit plot point. He's kind of a dark mirror of Saitama while he was still training.

Yeah the point is that Garou is becomming like a Dark Saitama, his unbreakable determination is causing his own limiter to constantly break & evolve just like with Saitama.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Wait, didn't Saitama still win that match against Child Emperor? I thought the latter just survived until the end by running away.
"Man literally too angry to die"
Did he?
I might have misremembered that bit there.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yes.
It's a form of ludonarrative dissonance in big picture terms, I suppose. Dragon Ball is the story of Goku's journey. But if there's millions of Gokus all running around the universe, then why are we so invested in Goku?
One-Punch Man, meanwhile, has a very different setup. The Hero Organization is perfectly suited to a Fanfic OC create-a-character. It's written into the premise that there are hundreds of heroes all running around the setting doing hero things, so it's easy for the game to go, "Make a character and BOOM, you're one of those heroes." It feels natural to just sit down and play as Some Hero Who Isn't Saitama, because that's basically the entire cast as it is.
- The people who survive thanks to Majin Buu being defeated.
- I mean. Dragonball is the story of
GohanGoku yes but OPM is like the story of everyone who isn't Saitama which... helps your point I guess. I still would've preferred not to see a shoed-in CAC mode added personally, but I suppose it is more natural.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
The Production Values of A Hero Nobody knows are honestly awful, though, almost on par with Jump Force but cel shaded.
Fighter Z and DBZ Kakarot spoil me.
