I really think this should have ended some time ago.

Then again, I suppose they need at least one more season to cover the Crisis.

God. Damn it.

This season on Arrow...

My name is Oliver Queen. After six years of being a vigilante, I've found a new calling. Some of mankind's greatest questions can be found among the stars, and I am about to take my first step among them. With the blessing of my remaining friends and family, I have left the Earth behind to become ... Space Arrow.

I don`t see anybody complaining about Supernatural still running, or Smallville running as long as it did.

I never liked Smallville (back when I thought Live Action Superhero stories were dumb by nature), and I do hate that Supernatural is still running (after Dean got Kevin Tran killed, I gave up).

Was kind of a half-serious response ;)

After all, I also often urge for the Agents of SHIELD showrunners to end the show now on a highnote instead of dragging.

As for Arrow, I find it pretty good this season so far, so I'm gonna wait and see.

Arrow has gotta keep going at least long enough for Berlanti and Co. to get WB's permission to bring Green Lantern into the Arrowverse, so the two can be sent on a cross-country road trip.

They did a lot of hinting at GL a couple years ago, iirc.

I fortunately never watched Supernatural, and I did hate Smallville when it was on, but compounded with the fact that it was the only live-action superhero show on the silver screen at the time it fell into So Bad, It's Good territory.

And at least it was going somewhere with a projected ending - Clark will don his signature costume and fly - that they stuck to.

This was worth ten seasons of space rocks, Lana Lang, super powers transferred via electricity, and Tess Mercer getting her ass kicked repeatedly. Makes you feel like all that time invested in the show was worth it.

I really dont think Smallville wasnt so bad, or a least the think it did wasnt so diferent of what CW or Netflix and other super show did at their time.

Lol, I just realized that the guy who plays Stanley is the same guy who plays Bill Williamson in Rampage. No wonder he is a deranged maniac....

What? No Bronze Tiger? This just fuels my belief that they are saving him for something else, like perhaps Checkmate.

Past Sins is one after the next episode (its also directed by David Ramsey), out on the 28th.

The first episode back from hiatus is on the 21st, and the title is "My Name is Emiko Queen"

Ooh, do you think the opening voiceover will be changed? I think that would be an interesting concept to explore.

Probably. They've done all kinds of different title cards and variations on the opening voice over in the past. Gustin did the opening during Elseworlds, I could certainly see Shimooka doing it for an episode.

Its a weird recursive origin with Emiko as a character. She was inspired by Thea from the show when she debuted in the comics.

Yeah. The recursion goes all the way, too: Mia Deardon (Speedy) inspires Thea Deardon Queen (Speedy/Red Arrow) which inspires Emiko Queen (Red Arrow).

And without Thea on the show anymore, Emiko really is kind of the perfect replacement for Green Arrow. Although it does bring up the fact that the Queen family is all fucked up (the mom and the dad were having affairs which resulted in children, while also involved in a conspiracy to destroy the Glades).

Are you asking for context? Cause you could just...you know, watch the episode.

Or read an online synopsis if you don't care to do that.

Do you really want spoilers? Well, okay, here goes: at the end of last season, Oliver made a deal with the FBI where he would publicly admit to being the Green Arrow and go to prison and, in exchange, the FBI would go after Ricardo Diaz. So this season has mainly been about Oliver surviving in the supermax Slabside, while Felicity and the others try to take down Diaz (since the FBI failed), which they finally did. Laurel (well, Earth-2 Laurel, long story), who is the district attorney for Star City, then made another deal with the Feds where they would get Diaz in exchange for releasing Oliver and so (after a pretty epic prison riot and fight between Oliver and Diaz), Oliver was released from prison, sans any sort of secret identity. Still wanting to serve the city in some way, Dinah (who is now police chief) found a loophole in the "no vigilantes" law: she hired Oliver to basically be a police officer. And nowhere does it state that a police officer can't wear body armor or wield a bow and arrow, so the Green Arrow is now technically working for the SCPD, legally and legitimately.

    all of that

I was caught up until right about here.

It's just

  • Dinah was all against Renee doing this stuff and now she's ok with a loophole that lets Oliver do it?
  • Is Laurel's position really so airtight she's not going to be suspected of corruption for letting old flame Oliver Queen get away with this? Clearly Dinah's skirting jurisdiction using her connections with Laurel to browbeat the current mayor.
  • I guess nobody in their right mind would go after Oliver's family now that he's a cop
  • What happens when Oliver shoots someone in the knee and they can't walk again. Do they file a complaint against Officer Queen? She's only lucky that Oliver did a public service and didn't go after someone on a personal vendetta this time.

Dinah was against Rene helping the new Green Arrow, who is a vigilante.
