Okay, here's something that may or may not be important. The entry on the ARG page notes that a Puppetmaster is being chosen. That wiki link leads to a description of a Puppetmaster's role in an ARG. Looking at the edit history for the page, I noticed that it was edited by a troper named Odon to include a reference to the novel The Puppet Masters on August 5th, the same date that the cat video was posted, and that has been the only edit since July of last year. That troper's page is empty, and as far as I can tell, he's mostly involved in sponsoring YKTTW things and editing pages. Either the troper, or the novel may be significant, or I could just be crazy. Just picking up a small thing I noticed.

I'm pretty sure the tail in the sunset video was that of a fox.

The idea of vampires that Joe brings up is intriguing however.

Um... i think the cat video might be a decoy... or possibly a decoy decoy. I tried double speed and it just sounded like weird noises with a guy saying kitty kitty kitty.

It's too grainy to be able to tell, really. The fact that it was in the sea made me assume it was a mermaid.

It was the balcony of one of the rooms.

Meh. I thought it'd be something important, or at least fun.

edit: but the cat video has good music, I've gotta admit.

Does anyone have a Zalgo translator?

Something probably more significant:

The troper who made the edit to include the Zalgo hint on the ARG page is Marowmerowmer. At first I thought that he was a troll of some sort, but it would appear that his edit history has been wiped. He's definitely in on this somehow, and from what I can tell in my searching, his account is recent, well withing the timespan that Average Joe has been posting videos.

Edit: nevermind on the edit wipe, I just made a typo in my search. He could easily be a troll. I'm just bad at this ARG thing.

[up][up][up][up]Looks more like it's diving into the ocean, if you look closely. This is somewhat supported by the guy's comments in the video (he says it doesn't look like a person in flippers, nor like a dolphin or a shark) that indicate that he also sees it as being in the sea rather than jumping from the balcony.

I have no clue what you're talking about, just dropping this here.

I could quite easily be talking about nothing, as I misread a few things and jumped to conclusions. The account has been around for a long while, and has been rather active. Which could quite easily mean that the Zalgo thing is a fake and not a clue at all. Or not. Everything is so ambiguous and anything could be a clue, so I'm just kinda flailing here.

With that distance/size relation our "mermaid" has the size of a high-class yacht...

So in ARG we're supposed to connect the dots between unrelated things right? Hmm... We've got mermaids... sinister cats... And lots of tripiness. Wonder if it's related to Puella Magi Madoka Magica somehow? Like there's a hint... I've never done an ARG before...

Dunno whether it's intentional, but The Other Wiki says that mermaids could reach a monstrous size according to some early accounts. Assuming it is a mermaid / merrow, that is.

And speak of the devil there's a feminazi in the Madoka discussion pages. Possibly a connection or a coincidence?

If it's anything important, Marowmerowmer's avatar caption on the forums is "Ja sam mačka," which translates to "I am a cat" in Serbian.

Ok. So there's DEFINITELY a connection there... So any other places where cats and mermaids intersect?

I have no idea what's going on and can't really get involved until I get home. But my first thought from the banner was "Oh fuck, TV Tropes is dead", followed by the shadowy video man and "Oh fuck, we've been hacked 4 teh LULZ".

Average Joe tells people to send in footage of weird stuff like in his footage, but what if we don't have a camera on hand? We can probably report on weird happenings in this topic.

...That is, if we're supposed to do that for this ARG. The Twitter account seems to indicate that we're supposed to by making mention of him...
