We're pretty much always accepting characters. It's just a matter of finding a good time and place to slot them into the plot.

Gotcha. When it does, do you prefer Marvel or DC?

Name: The Immortal Iron Fist

Real Name: Danny Rand-Kai

Gender: Male

'Age: Teenager

Appearance: Iron Fist minus mask

Alignment: Good

Personality: Danny has been trained to school his emotions and maintain a detached, lighthearted sort of calm, at times either attempting to dispense the wisdom of his masters in K'un-L'un or even wisecrack, though neither of these get at the essence of his real personality. Because beneath both discipline and fake smiles is a boy who was raised to be a weapon-or at least a warrior prince-in a world about as unlike modern Earth as could be imagined. The flame of rage and pain lit within him by his father's assassination and his mother's brutal death ten years ago in the mountains may have been safely channeled by the training and guidance he received, but the life he's lived so far has given him few chances for anything like friendship or ordinary social interactions and even in K'un-L'un he was often an outsider.

Now having returned to New York, he feels both his inexperience with normal life and society and the traumas of his past more keenly than ever. His desires to fit in and live a comparatively average life with friends are hardly helped by the fact that his somewhat sensational return has made his life as Danny Rand a media circus. That said, he does at least recognize his issues and want to heal and given time discipline and the act may give way to true happiness and inner peace.

Powers and Abilities

Martial arts-Danny Rand is potentially one of the greatest martial artists on Earth despite his young age. He is a master of all of the K'un-L'un martial arts and many of Earth's including Aikido, Ninjutsu, Judo, Karate, Boxing and all of the martial arts encompassed by Shaolinquan. Though he usually eschews weapons, he is likewise a master of all traditional martial arts weaponry.

Peak Human Training-As part of his training in K'un-L'un Danny has achieved peak human fitness for someone of his age even without the use of his powers. His senses have likewise been sharpened to the point that he can fight and function completely blind by relying on his other senses. Not only that, his training in K'un-L'un has given him near complete control over his body, enabling him to block all pain, slow the spread and effect of drugs and toxins on his body, slow his heart rate and breathing to undetectable levels and even control his own body temperature.

Chi Manipulation- Danny has been trained to harness his body's chi in order to enhance his strength, speed, reflexes, agility, endurance and durability to low superhuman levels. It also enables him a sort of sixth sense that allows him to detect certain types of energy as well as occasionally sensing killing intent as part of a low level of empathy, though he can rarely control this aspect of his chi abilities.

The Iron Fist-Danny Rand's signature ability, the Iron Fist calls on Danny's mystically forged link with the immortal dragon Shou-Lao the Undying in order to infuse his fists with its' fiery chi. With Shou-Lao's chi powering it, Danny's fist becomes more or less invulnerable and he is capable of delivering blows with massive amounts of concussive force capable of punching through steel with ease. So far Danny has found no upper limit to the amount of power he can put into the Iron Fist, but for upper levels it takes time and concentration to charge and at his current level of ability Danny is unable to use it more than three times without rest.

Mental training-Danny has been trained to recognize and shrug off mental influences of all types, enter a meditative state that heightens his sixth sense and connection with his chi and quickly tactically analyze and adapt to combat situations.

Multilingual-Danny knows English, various Chinese Dialects and Japanese

Weapons and Equipment: Danny typically has no weapons or equipment.

Origin: Danny has already trained for ten years in the mythical inter-dimensional city of K'un-L'un following his father's assassination by spectral ninjas and his mother's death by starving wolf pack in the mountains. He has even passed all of K'un-L'un's greatest trials, defeated the dragon Shou-Lao the undying and gained the power of the Iron Fist. However, the actual title of Iron Fist was originally meant for Danny's father Wendell and Danny has just recently chosen to forsake K'un-L'un for New York until his parents have been avenged and does not actually think of himself as the Immortal Iron Fist yet. He also hasn't really begun fighting crime. I want him to really start being Iron Fist and get into the mythology and role of that title as I continue in the RP

Ohh, a person who considered himself a weapon and who has no experience in social situations whatsoever?

We need to get him and X-23 interacting for giggles at some point. .

I mean, the environment he was raised to be a weapon IN means he tends to be a lot less grim about it than you might think, but yeah that could be interesting XD

First, welcome and be assured I have no real problem with your take on Iron Fist. I was mostly kidding because that episode of Ultimate Spider-Man where he and Danny go to Kun-Lunn had everyone treating Spidey as inferior- when he's actually one of Marvel's best fighters. They even reinvented Scorpion as an Iron Fist foe, when he's NEVER been one! Why not use Steel Serpent instead?

Anyway I hope you enjoy playing with us! smile

Accepted.

The New York heroes are currently dealing with an altercation at a ballroom now, but we'll try and fit you in soon enough... Say, wait a second...the wealthy citizenry of NY were among the invitees. What if young master Rand showed up late to the party?

Sure that works out great for me! He arrives late only to find a fight already brewing, giving him a potential opportunity to start his relationship with the heroes already. Although, would he be the type to bring his Iron Fist outfit under his suit? Either way I'm totally into it

That would depend on whether he wants to keep a secret identity, or just considers being Iron Fist (and the suit) an honorary title. Up to you I guess.

Down the road Luthor should hire Shang-Chi so that a mad martial arts fight can happen with Iron Fist.

Definitely a cool idea, but I think Shang Chi might be too chill to fall for it/work for Luthor? Maybe not though. I mean there are others who could work too! Lady Shiva occasionally does Assassin/Mercenary work for one.

I'd love to take a shot at this, I hope I don't mess it up, considering this is my first time rping on Tv Tropes. I'd also like to add that I'm taking a huge inspiration from the very talented Dresden Codak artist, and his redesign. If anything mentioned conflicts with some kind of canon, I'd be happy to discuss and work things out with the lovely GM! (also apologies for not being able to link, new account and all)

  • Name: Superman
  • Real Name: Clark Kent
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Late 20's

  • Appearance: (See Dresden Codak "Superman" Redesign) In his "Clark" form, he's a very scrawny looking, nerd type. He's gangly-armed, tends to hunch over a lot, and stands at an awkward 6' tall. Despite that, he's still got a small town charm to him. His brown hair is often kept neat, and parted at the side, while his green eyes are neatly tucked away behind his thick round glasses.

Superman (his alter-ego) on the other-hand is an "ideal" man. Standing at an imposing 6'4, he looks like a working-class olympian. He stands tall and proud with a confidence that seems to exude from his very persona. A black hair never seems to fall out of place on his head, but his most noticeable feature is likely his piercing blue eyes.

Of course his true form, as Kal-El, is drastically different from his human-looking forms. His Kryptonian body is very alien to humans, with bright green color skin, and luminescent white glowing eyes. His skin actually changes colors when in contact with Earth's yellow sunlight becoming a much more aqua blue like color. His long arms seem to hover at his sides, where shoulders would likely be, as his body almost floats around.

  • Alignment: Good

  • Personality: Clark, despite hiding his appearance and who he is from everybody, tends to be a very open person. Of course, growing up, Clark was always shy, which had kind of followed him throughout life, but as Superman, he's able to be much more confident and bold. He's inquisitive and always interested to learn new things, and always incredibly optimistic that there's always something to learn. He's very protective of people unable to fight for themselves, and won't back down when the "little guy" is put down. He wears his heart on his sleeve, both as Clark and Superman, and ultimately considers himself more human than Kryptonian.

He tries to see the potential in everyone he can, and is dedicated to seeing that to the end. After learning about what his people did to others, he feels guilty and has become something of a pacifist. He will resort to violence, if necessary, but he does not relish the thought, and will try to avoid it, if at all possible. To that extent, he abhors murder and the idea of taking a life genuinely frightens him, and so he will go to great lengths to find any, and every alternative to killing his enemies. As far as he's concerned, killing would not only make his as bad, or even worse than his enemies, but disgrace his family on Earth and Krypton.

  • Powers and Abilities: His main ability is his shapeshifting ability to 'shed' his human form, and reveal his Kryptonian body. He generally doesn't ever do this, both because he feels more Human than Kryptonian and the sight of his alien body frightens him, but he also fears bringing the wrath of the Coluans to Earth with his presence.

His natural Kryptonian heritage grants him superhuman strength and durability, though he can still feel and be subjected to pain. For example, he could easily take several bullets to the chest, face, body, etc. and brush it off with general ease, but he'd go home feeling sore as hell. Thankfully, he can work through the pain(although he has yet to be subjected Kryptonite, a radioactive material created by the Coluans to destroy the God-like Kryptonians). He is also incredibly fast, being able to run the circumference of the planet in less than 12 hours. Of course, he could probably also fly around the world to save some time.

The extent of his flight has yet to be tested, however he has been able to break past the thermosphere without any trouble as of yet. Clark has also found that his senses are a great deal more sensitive than humans as he's been able to hear conversations going on in Colorado and Missouri from Kansas, smell pizza being delivered Oklahoma, and taste the funk of the guy who accidentally used his toothbrush in sixth grade camp. As a Kryptonian, he is quite capable of performing nearly godlike feats, however Clark not only purposely hinders himself, but he also actively chooses not to learn of any of these abilities, lest he risk jeopardizing his mission, or more importantly, Earth. That being said, growing up he did accidentally discover that he had the capability to fire beams of heat from his eyes, blow cooling, powerful gust from his mouth, and even see through walls if he focused hard enough, but his fear that something might happen has prevented him from using those particular abilities.

  • Weapons and Equipment: He doesn't really use any, mostly because he doesn't have any use for them.

  • Origin: The Kryptonians were once a world-spanning civilization with technological creations that were unrivaled throughout the galaxy and held knowledge unattainable in any corner of star system and beyond. Kryptonians had long since advanced to a point where technology and biology were indistinguishable, making them virtually immortal and omnipotent in the eyes of less developed races. As time went on they grew more and more overconfident, and began to introduce their technology to undeveloped worlds, the first of these being the planet Colu. The Kryptonians had begun to infuse their technology with the peaceful, organic planet, without warning. The peaceful, monk-like Coluans had been overtaken by the Kryptonians, and corrupted by their machines, slowly and violently becoming compassion-less machines themselves. This was only the first planet to fall prey to the Kryptonian's growing civilization. Slowly, but surely they had assimilated every planet in their wake, and had begun to set their sights on a certain civilization in the Sol System. Mars.

Unbeknownst to the Kryptonians, the Coluan hive-mind had become something of data-collectors, seeking out knowledge as the Kryptonians did once upon a time. Coming to the conclusion that, ultimately, the Kryptonian growth would only hinder their ultimate pursuit of knowledge, they had worked to concoct a way to decimate the civilization. Using material from their own home planet, Krypton's, core, they synthesized a radioactive element, called Kryptonite. Kryptonite, when exposed to a Kryptonian, would essentially break down their body, molecule by molecule, introducing cancer-like tumors throughout their bodies that slowly ate them alive. Their plan was to eradicate the Kryptonians and erase all traces of them to ensure their own goals would be met. Any planet that had been fully assimilated would have to be destroyed, or shrunk down and stored in their 'Phantom Zone'. Daxam would be the first victim of this storage process.

During their attempt to assimilate the natives of the planet Mars, Krypton finally received news of the work down on Colu, but by then it was too. A Kryptonian Scientist named Jor-El, who had been tasked with passively and remotely observing nearby Earth, had predicted this event and had rapidly set a plan forward to save his infant son, Kal-El, from that fate. By sending him in a conventional rocket toward the backwater planet Earth, he guaranteed Kal-El’s safety from Colu. The rocket took over a thousand years to reach the planet, and upon reaching the surface, restructured Kal-El’s body so he would appear as a human.

He would be found and raised by simple farmers, Jon and Martha in rural Kansas. Kal-El (now called Clark Kent) was raised to value the efforts of a working man, and learned what it meant to work hard and persevere. Even though his family didn't earn much, due to Luthorcorp essentially owning his farm, they made due with what they had and never complained once. The lessons learned here would follow him through his life. Clark would eventually learn of his heritage when examining a recorded message from his rocket. His father informed him of his fate, and that he must never dominate the planet with his immense power, as it would warp the fate of all life on Earth. However, after growing up in Kansas with his family, Clark was not content to passively observe humanity, and decided to inspire others through his actions as Superman.

Superman has declared that he fights for those who cannot defend themselves, owing no allegiance to a particular government (though still obeying their laws). He has particularly targeted corporate corruption and the military-industrial complex as enemies of human progress, his most prominent opponent being billionaire industrialist Lex Luther and his company, the renamed Lex Corp.

aaaaaaaaacccccchhhhhhhhh......this is killing me...

...hokay. Here's the thing. For the longest time, I've been enforcing a ban on using Superman himself, on the grounds that there was too much potential for someone to go god-mode with him, shrugging off all attacks and bludgeoning people with skyscrapers or something. This has not stopped people with creating their own powerful characters, including an out-and-out Superman Expy, and they've handled them reasonably well so my excuse has been wearing thinner and thinner.

Of course, now it's probably too late, because we've had an NPC Superman with his own unique biology running about for a while. I'm really sorry about this, because it looks like you put so much time and effort into the backstory, but I'm not sure whether to give up and hand him over, or ask you to try a different character.

Or, you know, he could try using our version of Superman. He already has some differences to the canon one, like that thing about Kryptonians being Energy Beings that take hosts bodies.

Actually, I myself prefer is Superman be strictly NPC. It would kind of spoil a lot of conflicts if Supes was there, both in terms of either making things too easy or Deus ex Machina. Unless its against heavy-hitters like Darkseid, Thanos, Apocalypse, and/or Doomsday.

I have little knowledge of Nate Grey, so I'd have to look that up, but probably no to Sentry. As for the Hulk, he's a bit more of a specific case. The green 'n' mean Savage Hulk has no upper bounds to his strength in canon form, but his more restrained dissociative identities, for instance Joe Fixit the grey hulk, may have some kind of cutoff point in place, like say 75 tons. So, basically, I'd allow the Hulk if it's a version that can be kept in check more often than not, if you see what I mean.

Sijo from Puerto Rico Since: Jan, 2001
#1450: Feb 16th 2016 at 3:44:52 PM

Nate Grey, or X-Man, is Cable, or his counterpart from the Age of Apocalypse; both are supposed to have Franklin Richards type psionic powers, it's just that Cable's are hampered by a technorganic virus, while Nate's aren't. Yeah, very OP. Hulk however, is only as strong as he's angry; most of the time he's Thing-level in strength, but can reach the 100-ton level when angry, which is Superman's (not including the Planet-pushing Supes, who I assume is not canon here.) So I'd say Hulk isn't THAT bad most of the time. Supposedly he was even stronger during his Planet Hulk rage, but that was a very rare situation.
