Justice Avengers: Interest Check and Sign Up

Bumping for more people to see.

I was thinking about signing up for this (again), since the MMFRPG appears to have permanently died and I've been itching for some kind of RP-ing over the past few days.

I'm just not exactly sure who to sign up as.

Well, why not Batman? Spider-Man? Maybe even Iron Man.

I thought Spiderman and Iron Man were already taken.

Their players have dropped out, and I think you were interested on them way back when before signing up as Batman.

Are they retconned out then, or would I just pick up where they left off?

Pick up where they left off. To retcon them would be physically impossible by this point, considering Iron Man created the group and all that.

While not possessing any superhuman abilities himself. Regardless of the circumstances or even if it doesn't makes any sense at all. He will appear at the cry of " now who could defend us?"

• Weapons and Equipment:
  • Chiquitolina pills: they are able to shrink him, like antman, for a limited time.
  • El chipote chillón◊ : This mighty weapon while almost identical to Thor's Mjolnir. It's able to, comically, knock out anyone( and I mean anyone, even cosmic beings)
  • " Chicharra paralizadora" ◊a honk able to paralyze anyone( yes even gods) with one use and return to normal with two.

• Origin: Completely veiled in mystery, why would a man dress himself like a grasshopper to fight crime? Who cares it's awesome

Ha ha El Chapulin Colorado (The Red Grasshopper) was one of my favorite heroes as a kid. And it would be a lot of fun to see him, except he's not a DC or Marvel character so I don't think he would be allowed. (Oh wait it's an April's Fool gag, isn't it?)

(Btw, he's not THAT powerful- I remember when his hammer failed to affect Frankenstein's monster, for example.)

And he *does* have an origin, that I read about, though I don't think it was ever official: he's a poor Mexican countryman who was given his gadgets by some crazy scientist. (Now, how does he travel across time?)

My name is Grate Escape, and I have been circling this thread for quite a while!

I joined up yesterday with intentions to post my desired character choice, but unfortunately I had to wait twenty four hours. Luckily, that- combined with the fact I am quite free at the moment- allowed me to read up on the main Justice Avengers thread. I must say, quite a tale you have all woven! I didn't expect many of the twists and turns, and at times it felt like I was reading a fine comic book. Fantastic work.

My initial intentions- fueled by a recent reading of Birthright, by Mark Waid- were to join up with Superman. Of course, that was before I learned that in role play threads, people don't usually let you join up with Superman, due to power levels and other problems such a powerful character drags along with him. Which led to me devising an alternate choice: Tony Stark.

Again, that was before I realized Tony Stark had already been chosen... and is quite an integral part of the RP. However, I've noticed that the player behind Tony Stark has left the RP in recent months- which is a shame, I quite enjoyed his/her portrayal, particularly Tony's interactions with Power Girl!

I would like to know what this role play's rule on new players taking over pre-established characters is. If such a thing is possible, I would very much like to take over the duties of role playing Tony Stark- of course, right after I ask permission from Mysty Glyttyr and the GM, Lizard Of Aus. If I obtain the go-ahead, I will not make many changes to Tony Stark's current personality, for Mysty Glyttyr's portrayal of him matches my idea of how 'my' Tony Stark would go.

If one cannot take over a pre-established character, I would like to know the current status of the Punisher or Daredevil, two characters which I am interested in role playing. I have not read the spin offs, which is why I need to know if those two characters are being used.

Anxiously awaiting an answer.

Ahhhchk... The question you've posed is a tricky one to answer. I mean, there's certainly a precedent for players signing up with a character left abandoned, and, indeed, most of Mysty's characters in the spinoff games have been already fobbed off. It's just that, with Mysty having been a pillar of the game's community since its very inception, you can see why we'd have some sentiment attached, and perhaps some reservation about passing Tony on to someone we hardly know.

STILL, you've read through the whole game, so you ought to have a good grasp of the character, not to mention the history of this game's world. Plus, you seem like an eloquent chappie, so you might well do the character justice. My first instinct, then, is to have you play a character in one of the spinoff games, just so we can see you in action first. Meantime, one of us could pass on your request to Mysty herself somehow. (I get the feeling she might've left TV Tropes entirely, so it's unlikely your message got through.)

Daredevil is currently in Jump City, the lighter and softer RP. He's a lawyer there and is currently dating Jennifer Walters (AKA She-Hulk) whilst acting as Daredevil by night. He was played by Troy, but his presence was really small, so apart from that Walters tidbit you can modify pretty much everything.

We haven't dabbled that much on Daredevil's mythology- Bullseye showed up for a while in Hub City (the grittier, darker spinoff), the Kingpin on New York and Psylocke on Jump City has the Hand on her backstory- so you've got a blank slate, really.

To Lizard Of Aus: of course. I have no qualms with proving myself to the other players!

I mentioned Daredevil, and you have just told me he is on the Jump City spin off, which is apparently the role play closer to a Silver Age tone. Whilst Daredevil can certainly fit in that scenario, I do need to know if Jump City is exclusively for lighter and softer situations, or are more dark and mature scenarios allowed?

Otherwise, I fear I might have to jump towards Hub City, seeing as that befits more with the Daredevil I have in mind. Which is a shame, because a relationship with She-Hulk sounds interesting, especially considering the end most of Matt Murdock's girlfriends get. Does he know Walters' identity, or is that a secret to him?

She-Hulk and Daredevil's alter egos are mutually secret, as far as anybody knows. There have been a couple of dark spots in Jump City, certainly, but as a rule, we try to reserve our grittiest stuff for New York or Hub City.

You suggested playing the Punisher. Used the fella as an NPC yonks ago, so he's had a bit of footing in this world already. Didn't leave too much of a mark on him, save for him getting to know a few characters, which won't matter much if you put him in Hub. Feel free to go nuts with him, if you're interested.

In that case, I'm going with Daredevil. I'm sorry, Lizard of Aus, but the Netflix series has put the Murdock bug in me! I need to write a few paragraphs of him contemplating his life whilst Foggy tries to work out how to get a date. Or something like that- we'll see!

Will I have to make a sign up sheet for the ol' Hornhead, or can I just use the one from the previous player?

For my next trick, I'd like to direct your attention to the Jump City sign up thread...

I've removed some things from Troydenite's original sign up sheet- mainly Matt's past in Manhattan and his previous flings with several other women which Troydenite implied either died or went insane. I'm having him start off in Jump City.

Basically, to justify having him in Jump City, I'll say that Murdock & Nelson had to start small. Build a name for themselves before getting an office in New York. That, and the Fixer's old crew has it out for anyone with the surname 'Murdock'.

Oh also know that Tastu Yamashiro, Better known as Katana, is working for Matt as a secretary, I'm fairly sure he knows who she is given that she asked for it when she was in costume.

To Sanojutsu: but does Tatsu know who Matt is?

Alignment: Good, but for extremely selfish reason. Also, he goes way too far in stopping villains, usually by being incredibly violent. Ambush Bug without the hero worship, Deadpool without his slight morals.

Personality: Slapstick is fun-loving, pleasure-loving, and basically out for himself at every opportunity. He has a mean streak.

Powers And Abilities: He's a human Looney Tunes character, so he comes with the standard weapons and invulnerability. He can turn into his human counterpart with one special glove. Extreme force will turn him into a puddle, more force will restore him.

Weapons And Equipment: He can pull weapons out of nowhere. A gauntlet can turn him into a human and back.

Origin: Goes through a mirror and gets stretched across an incredible number of dimensions. He's made out of unstable molecules. Can I change why he went through it?
