Paradox kinda turn me off. Probably because the MC seem to have some kind of martyr complex/ white men burden mentality and how the story framed WK as some second-coming-of-jesus masterpiece. All come off as very cringe. The comedy doesn't mix well with the serious tone of the plot.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieI don't know, I like it because I see it as cringe comedy, with us supposed to laugh at the main character's excessive attitude towards everything. Something very vaguely like Prison School.
I do wonder if we're gonna see more detailed excerpts of White Knight like they did in Bakuman. At least Teppei's version, since it's supposed to be the "imperfect" one.
Which makes me want some Bakuman spin-offs. Money and Intelligence really seemed like a good story...
... And that's called jazz! There is that theory that the series mentioned in Bakuman are Shonen Jump rejects.
I donโt where to start with the problems with that idea.
Some of said "rejected ideas" have similar vibes to series otherwise greenlit. One of Fukuda's comics reminds me a lot of Chainsawman - but replace chainsaws and demons for bikes.
... And that's called jazz!Wow, am I the only one who saw a Shin Hoero Pen reference in the last Ghost Writer chapter? The author is truly a man of culture
There isn't an impossible dream, there are only people who give upAlright homes as expected, the axe has been dropped & the neck is Guardian of the Witch.
Ending on its 19th chapter........ so today. Ouch especially since last chapter was literally the start of a new arc. Not even giving a little time just to resolve that situation, nope just dropping that axe like stepping on an ant.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, considering the overall performance...
That would require a cimpant that treats its employees like human beings.
I'm pretty sure the authors are warned at least two or three weeks in advanceโฆ
Pfffft wow, Guardian just resolved last chapters dilemma in the 1st half & does a 5 year time-skip in the second half that automatically resolves the series entire main quest with an appearance by every named character.
And it ends with a final speech from the main witch about how the second kind of magic sheโs always known how to use is hope.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Personally, I prefer for suddenly cancelled series to leave the future a mystery instead of rushing to resolve everything (though it's fine to go past the immediate events to avoid a cliffhanger).
Well, that was obvious. The real question is what else is getting axed. Because there are gonna be four new series, but only TPN, Yuuna and Guardian have ended so far.
And, you know, that other obscure series.
Thinking about it, all the series from 2016 have ended in the span of a few monthsโฆ

I enjoyed Magu chan. Could probably survive a while.
Secret SignatureKimetsu ended in the previous batch, the one with Moriking.
It does have a cute mascot so that could prolly help a lot.
Easy merchandise.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Magu-chan was delightful and I hope it sticks around.
Ayakashi looks to be aiming straight for the Yuri Fan demographic, even beyond the premise. Wonder how long it'll take the cat to realize his anti-romance gambit flopped.
If something's gonna get axed soon, it's probably Yozakura or Agravity.
The dark horse is that the cancellation gets put off long enough that Bone Collector takes a dive first. My expectations for that one's performance are not going any higher. Shouldn't lifelong youkai Paira already know what her own people's beauty standards are?
Ghostwriter is kind of rushing through itโs early days. Makes me wonder how long itโs intended to last, anyway.
And yeah, Magu-chan looks like a fun series. Itโs kind of the same type of story as Moriking, but with a somewhat different character dynamic that I think might make it a bit better? I look forward to happens next.
Oh, also, I canโt find Ayakashi Triangle in the Jump app anymore. Have they removed it for some reason?

Oh God! Natural light!Magu-chan was really good. It focused on the important stuff of establishing the two mains and their relationship pretty well, and didn't get sidetracked. Though I do worry about the sheer level of gag manga competition going on. Mashle and Moriking seem to dominate that niche, though Magu-Chan surviving would make it the Triple-M. Not seeing Agravity Boys surviving in that climate, which is a shame. Seems to me like Jump's had an active effort in pushing "sword-wielding monster slayer" and "gag manga" series this quarter to see if they could get something to stick. At least Mashle is a success on the latter, and Moriking might be having a good placement as well. So any further gag manga are probably just works that were already in the pipeline as part of the "see what sticks" bit. So when some comedies are firmly established I do suspect there's validity to the theory that they'll probably start pushing sports series in not too long afterwards. My guess is that "romance" series will intersect with other genres pushed rather than being the primary focus, kinda like how Undead Unluck has done a surprisingly good job setting itself up now on top of everything else it has going for it.
Ayakashi feels like it should have had the contents of the second chapter in the first. I don't actively dislike it, but it doesn't really feel like it has actual momentum, with the second chapter also almost feeling like it was a first chapter but shorter.
And good riddance to Guardian of the Witch, I guess. That author really needs to improve on the action art and story pacing.

-sigh- Lost passwords...
Meanwhile, Ghost Writer Paradox keeps being cute with its fake-hotblooded humor.
