Is it just mediocre or is it off to a slow start?
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.""Not mediocre - it's awful" or "not mediocre - it's great"?
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Its good.
Watch SymphogearIt should pick up then, and Kishimoto's name is an extra buffer against failure.
Surely he could probably retire on Naruto money at this point though? Why continue the grind?
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Because he wants to write manga.
He still has that creative spark.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Do they come out weekly? Or does he have a more lenient schedule? Maybe he just hires a bunch of assistants to pick up the slack...

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Same schedule as before, he’s just doing an artist/writing duo this time.
He writes the main story while another guy draws the thing.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh, well that would be less intensive, yeah.
I'm also a bit less interested in it now, since I think his art was always one of his strong points.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Honestly, if I hadn't been told he's not the one drawing, I'm not even sure I would have noticed… Ohkubo's artstyle is incredibly similar (though quite cluttered in the early chapters). I think Kishi does the storyboards too.
Isn't the artist one of Kishi's old assistants? Which would certainly encourage a similar artstyle.

yes, he was. The art is certainly inspired by kishimoto but not without it's own characteristics. I honestly dont think the manga is bad, it is a bit boring at first but it gets better as it goes. Really didnt expect it to get lower ranking than kamio yui. Speaking of kamio yui, man that one's a disappointment. Especially, since I'm a big fan of the author's debut work, nurarihyon no mago. Was one of my favorite during my college years.

Samurai 8's ranking = I crai erry time.
Yozakura Family wins the irony award for the week with a teacher complaining about the indecency of a married couple having a private conversation "like a dog in the heat."
I mean, I doubt she'd be thrilled to know that her students are getting hitched in high school.
For a good cause!
That cause being the groom not dying a horrible bloody death.
Oh God! Natural light! Is not his purity worth more than his life?
Side note, I appreciate that we're apparently going to be getting the digital chapters on Fridays now. It's nice to not always be two days behind the scanlators.
That's just this week and next week because the magazine comes out early in Japan (Saturday instead of the usual Monday) due to holidays and whatnot. Scanlations have also been early this week (Thursday when they normally come out Friday).
And what is unchaste about him having sex with his wife? (Not that I'm sure they've even consummated their marriage yet.)
Scanlations coming out earlier can't really be helped, since there's no way legal publishers would be allowed to release the chapters before they're even out in Japan…
Anyway, I'm really digging Yozakura more and more. Don't know how long it can hold out, but so far it's a very entertaining comedy.
…Huh, well, I guess I can put on the TOC for issue 42, even if it's already apparent on Mangaplus and Shonen Jump's website.

Even if they're ready to axe Kishi, there's still a couple series to act as ablative armor for it.
Damn. I thought two weeks in a row meant a pattern.
I'm scared for Samurai 8. Its better than the other manga I'm reading bar Kn Y. I want it to succeed.
Hopefully it'll get better in rankings and I'm planning to return to reading soon but yeah... Feelsadman. I guess this is probably because Kishimoto's a bit notorious

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Is its 1st volume already out, how are the sales?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
Really thought having kishimoto's name attached to it will give it some leeway. Guess I was wrong
