The best Cyclops was Whedon's Cyclops, because he was both a dork and awesome.
Although, this is the best description of Cyclops.◊

Forever liveblogging the AvengersPlease don't let this become Marvel's Heroes In Crisis.
I sincerely doubt it will be, not with that list of writers. Basically, I trust Al Ewing to write anything.
I trust both Ewings, I trust Slott to write absolute crap, I trust Zydarsky, I'm sure Marvel trusts Pak so much they listed him twice, I don't remember much of what Thomson wrote, I trust Rosenberg with Darkness-Induced Audience Apathy after his X-Men run, Ahmed I trust, Howard I don't know much of, Hickman I trust, Cates I trust, and Aaron I trust to make it boring.
That's an awful lot of trust.
Kelly Thompson is currently writing Captain Marvel and previously wrote West Coast Avengers and the Kate Bishop solo Hawkeye book, which was awesome.
Doctor Strange is being relaunched...as Doctor Strange: Surgeon Supreme. Mark Waid is still the writer, with Kev Walker on art and Phil Noto doing covers. (I wonder if Noto will ever do interiors — his covers are beautiful, but that's pretty much all he does these days.)
Also, we have Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider, written by Dennis "Hopeless" Hallum and Donny Cates.

I haven't particularly read Carol since Brian K Reed was writer. I probably should be reading now.
If you haven't read Kelly Sue DeConnick's run on Captain Marvel, you should, because it's pretty awesome.
Gosh I’m getting tired of Cosmic Ghost Rider
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSame. Ghost Rider, but he's from space, is actually The Punisher, but acts like Deadpool. It legitimately seems like they pulled names from a hat.
And also is Thanos's dad.
My various fanfics.Adopted. And then un-adopted.
Chip Zdarsky has a newsletter now! It's awesome! You should read it!
Well, at least I still have PROJECT WINTERESTING (SOLDIER).
This is great:
It’s hard pitching that book in the room because whenever I say “and then Daredevil smiles,” Joe Quesada groans loudly. But then when I say “and then Daredevil looks sad,” Mark Waid kicks me in the nuts and Joe Quesada squeals in delight. It’s a no-win situation, because I both love and hate getting kicked in the nuts by an industry “legend.”
BTW how is Zdarsky’s Daredevil? I haven’t seen much talk about it.

It's pretty damn great. The current arc, "No Devils, Only God," is about what Matt Murdock does after he quits being Daredevil (he had a bad time after recovering from getting hit by a truck — he pushed himself so hard, he ended up accidentally killing someone). I actually really enjoy his new job as a parole officer — he's not prosecuting or defending anyone, he's just trying to help ex-convicts and make sure they stay out of jail.
Of course, circumstances transpire which basically forces him to become Daredevil again, but I expected that to happen.
It's interesting the parallels that can be drawn between Zdarsky's current run on Daredevil and what's happening at the same time over at DC with Nightwing. Both characters suffered a massive injury — Nightwing was shot in the head, while Daredevil was hit by a car — which effectively ended their superhero careers. Of course, for Nightwing, it was because he got amnesia and didn't remember he was ever Robin or Nightwing and now goes by "Ric Grayson," which is stupid. But the comics also include other people taking on their former superhero personas — a group of cops decide to become vigilantes and basically become a team of "Nightwings," while citizens of Hell's Kitchen, tired and fed up about the rampant crime, put on the Daredevil mask and fight back.
The only difference is the writing and Zdarsky's writing is way better.
Nice. I’ll have to check that out because I loved Zdarsky’s work on Spectacular Spider-Man.
Also Zdarsky’s newsletter was maybe the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. Thanks for linking to it.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]In a 1972 internal memo at Marvel Comics, Quicksilver was deemed not important.
On the entire list, only FOUR characters were deemed "not as important," and two of them, Ringo Kid and the Western Ghost Rider, were minor western characters. The third was the Watcher, who was just a background character, of course. The fourth is the only superhero on the list and that is, of course, Quicksilver!

The Protomen enhanced my life.No wonder he’s always so cranky. Was he even still an Avenger in 1972, or was he palling around with the Inhumans? I know he had left the team before that but I also remember him in the Kree-Skrull war so I’m not sure what he was up to in 1972.
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]The Inhumans were involved with the Kree-Skrull War because the Kree wanted to take the Inhumans to be reinforcements for the war.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersInvaders #9 has the first reference to Hickman's X-Men. There's a single mention of the "current Krakoa situation."
I'd like to think of him as like Ultra Magnus from the Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye comic.
An unflappable devotion to following the rules & bringing order that renders him a bore with the right touch of social awkwardness & repressed feelings that makes him charming.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
