They do have more pets of actual Avengers now

They could also use Chewie

[up]Chewie would be the Sunfire of the group. He would join up but quit after the first issue in indignation after finding out the name of the team.

Man reading Immortal Hulk I gotta ask, why does it always come down to violence?

Every time despite it never working out, in spite of the fact they always get their asses beat like children taking a spanking, why do the Avengers always send a fucking killsquad to deal with the Hulk instead of just talking or something?

It’s even worse in this case because this squad was being lead by Carol who pulled the same exact shit in CW II which is why Bruce is in this fucking state in the first place.

It’s so fucking sad & irritating how the Avengers are always such Goddamn assholes/dumbasses to Bruce & Hulk. Is nothing ever learned?

And they should know better too.

Then again, when someone does manage to talk him down, another jackass always fires off a shot and sets him off.

What were they being blackmailed with?

alliterator Since: Jan, 2001
#38958: Jan 27th 2019 at 2:09:22 AM

They attacked the Hulk because it had been reported that he had attacked people. They turned over his body to the government because Carol was being blackmailed.

Okay, here goes: Captain Marvel's Alpha Flight co-worker Walter Langkowski (Sasquatch) had earlier been looking for Bruce Banner, since he had been experiencing weird things associated with his own transformations (everyone who had been affected by gamma rays was now seeing something called "the Green Door" and/or their reflection was different). When Walter met with reporter Jackie McGee, a random person stabbed him in the back and he died...but like the Hulk, the Sasquatch came to life at night and started killing people. When the Hulk confronted him, it turned out that Bruce Banner's father was now possessing Sasquatch's body, but the Hulk stopped him by removing the gamma radiation from Walter's body, reverting him back. Since it was seen as Sasquatch who killed those people (nobody aside from Hulk knows about Bruce Banner's father), the government basically told Carol "Turn over the Hulk's body to us or else we will arrest and prosecute Walter Langkowski." So Carol turned over his body, which ended up in Shadow Base...and then turned right around and appointed Walter to head up Gamma Flight in order to find out where they were keeping the Hulk. So even Carol doesn't trust the government.

Ain't Bill Maher the guy who went on about how comic fans are a bunch of manchildren recently.

No, Bill Maher recently went on his show and doubled down on his "comics are only for children and if you like anything about them, you are emotionally stunted" thing. I think they realized that all Maher wants is attention (like the babyman he is), so instead of firing back missives or arguments, they are like, "lol okay, Bill, we know you don't actually have any convictions, but why not come to Stan Lee's memorial and you can just sit their and fume?"

Basically: trying to argue with Bill Maher is giving him exactly what he wants (attention and articles written about him). Not giving a crap about what Bill Maher says is giving him the opposite of what he wants. So I'd actually say this is a smart move. Either Maher declines and is seen as the pissbaby he's always been or he accepts, goes to the event and doesn't say a word.

Open question to everyone: Who is your favorite Marvel hero and villain, and why? I’m curious to hear the reasons behind your answers.

My favorite villain is Dr. Doom. No one gets to go big or go home like Doom does. Everything about him is so big and hammy and grandiose. He’s a wizard and a mad scientist and a dictator. He’s everyone’s villain; he’s crossed swords with practically every hero in the MU, so he has enough of a history with a lot of people to have at least some beef, but he’s the intensely personal arch-foe of the FF and Reed specifically. His schemes are big yet his motivations are sometimes petty. He can be the big universe-wide threat one issue and two months later be defeated by Luke Cage or Spidey and it feels okay. Truly a baddie for all seasons.

Favorite hero is Spider-Man. I was hooked ever since I sent in my box tops in the summer of 2002 to get the demo CD for the PC port of the PS 1 game. Peter Parker is cool; he dates attractive women, he’s charming and funny... but he’s relatable in that he has to deal with real life and mundane, annoying problems. His very first appearance is a rejection of the idea that life would get easier if you gained superpowers. He’s a guy who tries to do the right thing and act responsibly, but his stories show that doing the right thing and getting what you want or being happy aren’t always the same thing. Despite doing good, he has bad luck like anyone else, and whenever he does bend a little and act selfishly, it usually comes back to bite him. His reward for doing what’s right and acting unselfishly is often little more than a clear conscience—and even then, he’s just good enough as a person to feel like he constantly falls short. It’s unhealthy, but it’s what makes him a hero, and it’s such a relatable and believable struggle. And yet there are victories, like Paul Jenkins said in “Maybe Next Year”, that make up for the hard breaks and the thankless effort. Victories like lifting all the rubble in the Master Planner’s hideout to save Aunt May, or marrying the love of his life, or Raimi’s New Yorkers standing up for him. Plus, he’s got the coolest suit, the coolest powers, and the coolest city. Nuff said.

Heh Hulk’s reaction to Jackie’s motivations for becoming a Hulk is amusing. He’s all like “I don’t give a fuck for your reasons but I respect your stance towards anger.” tongue

He doesn’t really care even though he asked because he already knew the answer. She wants power, she doesn’t want to feel vulnerable, everything else is just justifications. He has dealt with people like her many, many times.

Favourite Marvel character is a tough question. I'm so much more a DC guy since they tend to create more iconic characters who exist and define themselves in specific ages of comics where they could only spring forth from there, while Marvel characters tend to be a lot more fluid and adaptable as time goes on.

My favorite Marvel property is the X-Men, and my favorite Mutant is Nightcrawler, so I suppose I'll go with that.

Nightcrawler is the face of the X-Men as far as I'm concerned. He's the perfect representation of the metaphor at the heart of the series, a man who looks like a demon (until that time it turned out he is a literal demon because Chuck Austen) who nonetheless fights tirelessly for the same people who will chase him down with actual torches and pitchforks if the opportunity presents itself. It's weird to me that Nightcrawler evolved into the Captain America of the team, in that he's the heart of the group whose death or absence is usually treated as a signal that things have gone capital W Wrong since the actual best parts of his character are in being a shameless flirt to every pretty lady he comes across (which I guess got supplanted by Gambit) and a swashbuckling adventurer who fights with pirate swords whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Of course he also makes out with his sister, but nobody's perfect.

[up][up][up]Favorite hero is Captain America without a doubt. I've long maintained that the American Dream as it stands is a crock. That not everyone can be what they want to be or successful just by giving it their all. Along with everything else associated with it. But Cap stands for what the Dream should be. Of equality and justice for all. Which is also something he had to come to after a good deal of soul-searching. Cap represents the America we should be striving for, and something about that is just inspirational as hell.

He's also a fucking badass. When you get down to it he has no powers, not really. But he doesn't need them. He's managed to save the world multiple times, become leader of the general Superhero community, and take charge of a team full of aliens, robots, Gods, and whatever else purely out of sheer ability and presence. "His is a voice that could command a God. And does." To me, that makes him even more awesome than someone like Superman. I still love Supes, but Caps does all that Supes does — all that matters anyway — without any real powers whatsoever. And that's just amazing to me.

As for villains, gonna have to go with Doctor Doom. Pretty much the same reasons Red M said.

Favourite hero: Proooobably Kitty Pryde. I like that she's a character who's been allowed to grow and mature. Also, she's just awesome.

Favourite villain: Lady Stilt-Man. The big, grandiose villains seldom really speak to me. Like, as entertaining as Doom can be, ultimately, he's an arrogant, entitled prick. He thinks the world owes him because he's smart, and fuck guys like that. I like the weird villains. The small-timers who are out there hustling with weird gimmicks. Stilt-Man was one of the weirdest gimmicks. And then Lady Stilt-Man comes along and is the absolute epitome of the loser villain. She's a legacy of a loser villain. And she doesn't call herself Stilt-Woman, she's Lady Stilt-Man, which is just the most ridiculous name, and she chooses it because, dammit, she is utterly sincere in her appreciation of the original Stilt-Man.

Lady Stilt-Man. I genuinely love her and want good things for her. She's great.

My favorite hero would have to be Deadpool. A fun guy, usually funny, great costume, dope abilities & weapons, & is capable of an amazing amount of pathos.

Favorite villain would have to be....... hmmmh not sure, could be a tie-in between like Venom, Thanos, or Green Goblin.
