They have the ultimate god pack for like 30 bucks

The all gods pack becomes a better and better bargain the longer the game is out.

I got into the swing of the game for a month or so and unlocked Athena. Aside from the fake-newbie accounts the community was ok by MOBA standards.

Athena looks beautiful and has a fun kit. I quit playing because she's a bad representation of Athena. It's a good tank MOBA character in an Athena costume. It's a mistake they've made before, Sun Wukong was remade into a Mayan god and a proper version of him was(will?) added back in. Athena just wasn't authentic enough for me.

I should mention the game left beta a few days ago.

I have been playing this game for a while and I really hope they do something with matchmaking. I'm a max level player still getting paired up with players who really have no clue on what they're doing.

So I just tested this game, it was pretty fun, but... because I'm in Asia, and they have no Asian server, there's a lot of pings that hinder me. But overall pretty good.

After playing DOTA 2 and LOL, I feel that this is kinda closer to LOL in terms of itemization and characters. So can anyone make a help about Champion-God comparison between LOL-Smite (like for instance, I heard people saying that Guan Yu is like Xin Zhao)? And items too.

The new patch is out! Kukulkan has flown into the Battleground of the Gods! He replaces Ao Kuang, inheriting his moveset. But Ao Kuang will be back...

In other news, Arachne and Odin have had their kits reworked, and this patch's rotation of free gods is Isis, Sobek, Chaac, Xbalanque, and Thanatos. More details and minor fixes in the full patch notes within the link above.

Wow, why is discussion about this game is dead?

And another lesson learned is to NEVER visit a game's original forums. It's SO full of Know-Nothing Know-It-All who whines about every little things, starting from matchmaking, god tiers, god balance, etc, who boasts that the company is pathetic and they can do a better job than the crews, while they might not even be that good.

It's like that in League, it's even worse in Smite. Hi-Rez might not be a big company, and some can say it's shady, but if it's doing a good job making Smite a good game, it deserves praise.

I swear, if I see people like that and I'm in charge, I'll just... KICK them out of the community and tell them to fuck off.

If you see it from the forums, you might even think that Smite is a shitty game, while in truth, it's a pretty good game.

So, bringing this thread back up for a couple reasons. Hou Yi's ready to come out within a week, the first world championship is well underway, the God Pack's on sale for another couple of days, yadda yadda.

However, my main point is that I've finally decided to give the game a try. And while I've only been able to really play bot matches, I can definitely say that I'm having a lot of fun. Playing everything up close, there's a beauty and an adrenaline rush that I just never really noticed watching it on Youtube. It really is engaging in a way that Lo L just can't replicate from the standard overhead view.

.....Also hoping we could, y'know, try to liven up the conversation here a bit. I mean, c'mon, it's the 3rd biggest MOBA out there (let's face it, Ho N no longer counts).

Again, best to avoid the official forums. If you think LOL forum is whiny, the Smite forum, especially the feedback parts are just making them look like obedient little boys.

That being said, if you wanna start a discussion... Maybe you can start with your favorite Gods?

Looks interesting and right now we start to get an idea who's on the side of 'protect mankind' and 'subjugate mankind'

Alright, little late, but Season 2 has been out and about for a couple days now. God changes, item changes, and a new Conquest map have basically turned the entire metagame upside down, and has arguably made the game the most balanced it has ever been. For anyone who hasn't jumped into it yet, I'd highly recommend jumping in now while everyone's still confused.

Haven't posted it yet for two reasons. First, I was trying out the new map, and I've been loving everything so far. In addition to item changes, the recommended item list has been rehauled and the auto-leveling and auto-buying systems have been reconfigured by Youtuber/Hi-Rez employee Drybear in order to be better usable, and from what I've been testing it all works real well.

The other reason is I've been examining the new main menu UI, which has become something of a controversal subject the past week. What I've found is interesting: by setting my resolution as low as possible (1024x768), one of the biggest issues of the new UI (the chat box overlapping the menus) completely fixes itself. It seems to be due to how the menus are set to widen and the icons are set to get bigger in lower resolutions. If Hi-Rez can get this to work for all resolutions then that would be stellar.

So yeah, my first question. Who are your fave Gods?

My absolute favorite is Janus. Just such a unique character, both in the game and arguably in the whole genre. I just love playing with portals and juking like crazy. Also I tend to play very passively and thus accumulate more assists than actual kills, so shredding with Janus is fun.

Second-favorite is neck and neck between Chronos and Sun Wukong. Chronos because his kit is great and his ult is just ridiculous, and Wukong because he's just so much more badass compared to League Of Legends's Wukong.

After that it kinda trickles down. Athena because she just rocks as an assist. Ao Kuang because the damage he deals is just off the charts. Guan Yu because I'm a long-time Dynasty Warriors fan. Ah Muzen Cab because "God of Bees" is just the most awesome thing. The datamined Bellona also looks real cool.

I would give out some that I liked a lot and played, but I felt like that'd be like spoiling one video I'm currently making (I made a video series of League Of Legends faves, I wanna expand to Smite one day)...

And to spin the question around: who's your least favorite? For me, it'd be Odin for one simple reason: he does no damage. At all. I've played a couple bot matches with him and it's an epic struggle for me to kill Ra. Give me a damn flyswatter, why don't you.
