Nah, The Fake spoilers were honestly very dumb.

What we got was far better, IMO.

I'm glad I completely missed the fake spoilers because I was busy playing the game to post the correct spoilers.

V3 is weird for me, in that I think its a rather weak entry in the series, but unlike a lot of its detractors I actually *like* the ending twist and last chapter. I just think the game repeatedly shot itself in the foot with the previous chapters and the majority of its character writing. x3

Nah, I think it has the best character writing in the series overall.

DR 1 is almost too bland in some of its characters, and SDR 2, while having fun characters, had TOO many comic relief characters that were hard to take seriously.

V3 is more of a balance, in which some fo the straight laced characters are great, the comic relief characters are legitimately funny, and the creepy characters are legitamately creepy this time around.

My main objection with V3 is that I just didn't find many of its characters compelling or likable, personally. By the time we got to chapter 5, I really just didn't care about any of the remaining cast. I can understand why others would feel differently, but around chapter 4 the game mostly fell into Eight Deadly Words territory for me and didn't let up until the final trial had some interesting twists. Not that the earlier chapters were completely free of that, either. I stand by the twists with Korekiyo's character in chapter 3, the offing Ryoma in chapter 2 despite his character having massive potential for no reason other than to fulfill a ridiculous series formula, and having Kaede as the Decoy Protagonist instead of Shuichi in chapter 1 as being especially questionable decisions, in my view. Not to mention the game bringing up potentially interesting quirks and twists with how the trials and votes could work in this game, like with the multiple killings in chapter 3 or the ties in chapter 5, and then not doing anything with them.

None of that happened for me with 2. You can say what you will about the ratio of comic relief characters to serious characters, but at least with the exceptions of Teruteru and Hiyoko I gave a damn about what happened to the characters in the game.

Having more comic relief than serious characters is a big plus to me, specially in a series like DR, that properly humanizes the comic relief characters to the same extend as most serious ones.

Here's my thinking. DR1 had the best setting, DR2 had the best protagonist, DRV3 had the best characters, and UDG had the best villain.

Am I the only one who feels like the people who do the YMMV entries across Dangan Ronpa really seem to let their personal feelings into their entries far more and not actually looking at what the Dangan Ronpa community actually feels about the series?

I've done quite a bit of cleaning up, especially by removing an obviously shoehorned in First Installment Wins entry ifor the first game, in spite of the many obvious gameplay issues it had that were fixed in subsequent visual novels of the series (the Re:action system can die in a fire and I'm glad it did) and the overall improved free time events and how they worked into the gameplay.

DR2 is by far the most popular entry as far as I see it, so I think First Installment Wins is very out of the question.

A survey released after V3's japanese release actually had V3 as the japanese fanbase's favorite entry in the series, actually.

2 is certainly my favorite. 1 was good but 2 just did everything better. Ultra Despair Girls was pretty good too from a story perspective.

I beg to differ on the story. Ultra Despair Girls had interesting foundations, but it's too long and rather repetitive for its own good. 3 of the 5 members of that villain group add nothing of real value to the story, which adds to the jank.

They may be filler villains, but I think they work well for what they are.

Low key Hot Take: The Truth Flashback feature was dumb, and I'm glad V3 got rid of it.

Its when you right click or use a certain button and highlight a certain statement thats not in your truth bullets to contradict another statement in that given non stop debate.

DR 1 abused the hell out of it, and while DR 2 didn't do it nearly as much, its still very annoying.

Ah, right. Yeah, that was annoying.

The entire final battle with Junko in 1 was just highlighting hope over and over again. I like the final confrontation, but that entire segment was a pace breaker.

I found out recently that apparently a lot of people don't like chapter 3 in DR 2 (there's apparently a popular saying that every chapter 3 of most visuals novels is a bit of a low point), which I find weird since I personally liked it by the end and it was one of the chapters with the most satisfying payoff for me.

Supposedly they think the dispair disease is random nonsense and takes agency away from the characters? I don't really buy that, personally. I mean, if you wanna argue that it removes certain characters from affecting the plot for a while then that's a fair argument but as for the murder itself, it was still Mikan's decision. All the disease did was revert her to how she was as an Ultimate Despair. If you want to argue she wouldn't have done it normally, then yeah sure, but that's the whole point behind Monokuma's motives in the first place, to force people to commit murder. Danganronpa has always been a very over-the-top and ridiculous series, and given the sheer scale of what Junko accomplished and the resources she seemingly had, plus the fact that it's a virtual reality world anyways, the disease isn't really far-fetched. The deeply unsettling murders she commits, as well as the eventual reveal of how unhinged she is that ends up foreshadowing the later reveals about the group, really make the chapter worthwhile for me personally.

I'd certainly consider it much better than chapter 3 in DR 1, which I agree was kind of lame, because it was overly convoluted and the payoff was lackluster for all the trouble.

Wait till you get to Ch 3 of UDG and V3.

They are also similarly controversial in terms of story bits.

Unfortunately I don't really have a way of playing V3 atm. My PC's graphics card (to be fair, it is an integrated chipset) isn't good enough to run it.

There's always the PS 4 port.

Or the PSVita one, which is how I played it.
