The stories of The Emperor's New Groove, Bolt, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, and Lilo & Stitch are all original, written by the screenwriters.

And Atlantis The Lost Empire. Why does nobody pay any attention to Atlantis? (tongue)

IMO, there's a good rule of thumb with movie Animated Adaptations: Most of them barely resemble their source material, but they range from acceptable to awesome in their own right.

Well Atlantis took some inspiration from 20,000 Leagues. People have also compared it to Stargate and Nadia of the Blue Water.

Well, yeah, but inspirations aside, it isn't an actual adaptation of a work. Same with The Lion King.

.I think this is something that begs "Concept vs excecution". Frollo succumbed to Adaptational Villainy, but at the same time it's made him one of the most iconic and darkly complex Disney villains. Even though Disney tends to make things pretty Black And White, I'm sure we all still find the villains compelling in various ways.

You have a point and Frollo has many fans constrast to some characters whom are made more villainous in adaptation, and has many haters. I am currently reading the Hunchback of Notre Dame novel Victor Hugo and noticed they left out some characters that had some significane in the novel like Pierre Gringoire and Claude Frollo's brother Jehan Frollo. Also have you notice that two of the gargolyes in Disney movie shares share the first and last name of the author of the Hunchback of Notre Dame novel. That is a great reference.

Somehow I knew that Disney did not create some of these stories because I watch differnt versions of them, and read children books about them when I was a child. Some of the version I watch came out before the Disney Movies did. I also watch another animated adaptation of 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' although I can't remember whether Frollo was the archdeacon in that movie, but I did remember that Phobeus was also a good guy in that movie like he was in the Disney movie. I did watch which is an adaptation of Snow White called 'Mirror, Mirror' recently. I also watch another Beauty and the Beast adaptation, but I can't compare it to the Disney movie because I forgot what it was about. I have watch and read plenty Cinderella stories include ones with a modern day setting.

Also about the Lion King, some say that it was adaptation the 'Hamlet' while some said that it is based off of 'Kimba the White Lion' written by 'Osamu Tezuka'. I read 'Hamlet' and the only thing that it has in common with the 'Lion King' is that the main characters' uncles kills their fathers, and that they both are princes. The Lion King could be inspired by Hamlet, but it is clearly stated that the 'Lion King' is an adaptation of 'Hamlet'?

I also watch an another animated adaptation about Pochantas. That adaptation covered Pochantas her journey to England in one movie as well. Also the Tvtropes page make an excellent point about there being no mountain or cliffs on the coast of Virigina in real life. I have been to Virginia coast, but I did not realize that geography portrayl in the movie was inaccurate until Tvtropes brought it up.
