It's not so much that the 2003 turtles were looking down on their 1987 counterparts, it's that the script was backing them up, reducing the 1987 Turtles to childish morons who can't beat Hun. It just got kind of tiresome.

One thing I really like about this series is that Don's inventions actually look like he built them out of a garbage pile.

That is pretty neat.

I sometimes wonder where Don got his scientific know-how in the first place. Even smart people have to like, learn stuff, they aren't born with inherent knowledge of how things work. Maybe a few science textbooks wound up in the sewers. I wouldn't be surprised if all kinds of weird stuff ends up in the New York City sewer system.

With the '87 turtle gear, a lot of it looked like surplus from anywhere between WW 2 and Vietnam. Most of it was reconfigured as "non lethal" like the stink bombs on the original Turtle Blimp and the Double Barreled Plunger Gun.

"You know how many times the people Thomas Edison payed to make something he'd take credit for failed? A LOT!"

Hey, that's a lie. Edison was smarter than that; he didn't pay them.idea

[up]Eh, I can buy that.

AND HA- good one.

Methinks the reason behind the turtles having actual firepower for their vehicles in the previous cartoon may have something to do with being friends of the Utroms. Of course that doesn't explain the Battle Shell's missles since that was before learning of the Utroms.

Also, what would Mikey turn into if he didn't escape Karai's trap?

My top four guesses: 1. A savage monster like Raph and Donnie from the comics and previous cartoon respectively.

2. A mutant turtle with super powers.

3. An undead looking turtle like Dogpound turning into Rahzar.

4. A pile of goo.

When you think about it, trying to dip Mikey into the mutagen is a really stupid idea when you see what it did to Bradley. I imagine the effects would vary, but did any of them consider the possibility that it would turn Mikey into a superstrong mutant who could effortlessly destroy them? They'd certainly have egg on their faces then.

[up][up]But mutagen can also make the victim a mindless savage monster, insane or just flat out evil (April's Dad, the Squirrelanoids, Justin, Pizza Face, and Speed demon) meaning Mikey could mentally devolve or lose his sense of justice and morality and turn against everyone.

If that happened, the Foot would win to some degree since Splinter would lose another child and the turtles would be down one member.

[up]But Tokka=evil

Mikey=not evil

That could have happened yeah, but it still seems like a dumb risk when they have no way to tell what the mutagen will do to him.

I wonder if Tokka will ever appear in the show. What could they do to differentiate him from Slash?

[up][up]We have no clue how the next mutation would change him.

[up]I was willing to bet that Slash was going to become Tokka when Shredder had control over him.

Here's a thought, what if instead of Tokka we get- TERRORPIN! That way the character can be his own guy!

Mikey would've probably turned into some variation of his Red Sky-era Mutated form.

So if anything, Don just sucks at chemistry.

Well, he is the fellow who has a way with machines.

Raphael's got the most attitude on the team.

So I just watch Annihilation Earth on Nickelodeon's website and wow, that escalated quickly.

I was hoping someone besides the turtles, April, and the obligatory human ally would survive.

*googles anhilation earth* Syfy channel movie? .-.

Anyway, you are saying that Grognard the barbarian's ending is applicable to this? xD If everyone dies or something(I didn't even know season finale is up), I wonder if time travel will happen or some other scifi magic .-.;

@Metal Michaelangelo The Tricer guy turned on the Turtles because of Raph's deception.

Not really, he didn't really care and said he expected as much from earthlings.

Hilariously, second to last episode of Avengers Assemble ended with heroes returning from space and finding Earth gone. It's like stealth crossover.

MAN that ending was intense. And no- -just because they can wish him back with the Dragon Balls, Splinter's death is still sad.

But let's not get too sad, the episode after Annihilation Earth features- MONA LISA! Only she doesn't look like the original Mona Lisa, doesn't have the same origin as Mona Lisa, and the several fans who interpret Raphael as gay will be annoyed if she becomes his love interest( I remember how ticked the Mikey Head shippers got). I'm sure her legions of obsessed weirdos will LOVE these changes(at least she had an action figure, where's my Alpha One?)

But seriously now- FUGITOID BABY! Missed that guy.

A few things to get off my chest.

FUCK YOU SHREDDER! This is one of the few times I can say I have legitimate hatred for a fictional character. Even the previous Shredder hadn't brought me to that point, congratulations.

Shredder was an Utrom, Bishop is an Utrom, calling it now wild mass guessin the next series Yamato Yoshi will be a Ultromwild mass guess. Adding to this, Bishop continues to be badass, and this explains why Sub-prime speaks differently.

I feel conflicted about Splinter dying. On one hand he may not actually be dead, which would be great. But on the other, I want him to be. It would be interesting seeing how the Turtles grow from it and how Karai will react.

Some thoughts:

I know who voiced him, but anyone else think nitrogen deprived Zog sounds a lot like Gary Busey?

The NES Advantage controller and 'Venkman was here' scrawled on the wall were a little too on the nose.

I kind of feel Bishop was a cop out because they didn't want to design and model a new character.

On the same note, a lot of reused locations also.

Mondo Returns...and still has no battle skills.

Muckman's no match for a barrage of blaster fire.

Shredder is beyond redemption.

Holy crap, April is going to go Super Saiyan! ...Nope.

Well, Crognard warned us about unsatisfying conclusions. That's one way to tie up all the dangling plot threads.

Yes, Casey, I know this is exciting, but remember your parents and most of your friends are dead.

I'm confused; did the season finale already air or something? My brothers and I just watched the new episode yesterday, and all that involved was the lead up to the season finale.

Either way, I ended up spoiling myself because I thought you guys were talking about that episode instead...
