Bounty Hunters: Apocalypse

Blight walked back into the main room, the cat following close behind.

"So a search and possibly a rescue then?Then the only question that remains to be asked...", Dean said as he slipped on his headgear, "...is when do we leave?"

"Dawn." The word was practically a whisper. Jadis looked over the the ragtag group of hunters. To her, they looked more like prey.

"Fighting the creatures of darkness on their own ground is suicide. They have too many advantages as it is."

She grabbed her pack and weapon, before moving out of the room to one of the cubicles. "For now, I would recommend resting. We have work to do tommorrow, and I don't like burying partners who got caught off guard."

Clark let out an almost imperceptible sigh. Some of these people seemed rather scatterbrained. He was pleased that he'd come equipped to defend himself if necessary.

A grin grew on Jared's face, as he answered the man, "Yes."

Ross glanced back at the others getting ready, then back at the newest arrival. "Alright, get yourself ready to move; we're going out on patrol soon. Oh, and don't touch the kid" Ross said to the newcomer, then walked past him to the door.

"I'll be right back" Ross told them all, and headed down the stairs.

Alearth seemed to settle down, as she stood to her feet and checked her backpack. She patted it to show that she was satisfied with the result, looking at eachother of the other people. She did look a bit dejected when her only supporter had left the room, but she tried her best to show a smile.

"yay!Bounty hunt! Although why are you scared of the dark? You're big guys all of you!" She added.

Clark raised an eyebrow. "Because there are bigger things hiding out there." He said. "If it helps, considering it like a game of hide and seek...but the loser dies."

"And gets eaten." Blight responded. "Don't forget about that part."

The cat stared at Alearth, alert and prepared for any sudden movements.

"There are however, some fates worse than death itself.", Dean added as he checked his gun, "Like being used a demonic ritual or worse...getting turned into one of them". When he finished Dean headed towards one of the boarded up windows to take a look outside. He always had a tendency to constantly check the area mainly because no matter what time of day it was, something was always out there hungry for blood.

"Alright, who wants a walkie talkie?" Ross said as he came back to the room, a handful of the devices in hand. "Good way to keep in contact if we get separated. Oh, and can't forget this" he continued, putting the walkie talkies on the table then fishing in a pocket for something.

"Here, you want to carry this?" Ross questioned to Clark, holding out a small, red digital camera. "For recording our kills; those boys at the airport want proof before they hand over cash" he explained before anyone actually had the chance to ask.

Clark shrugged, taking the camera and sliding it into a pocket. As a sniper, he'd probably have the best view anyway. He also took a radio and attached it to his outfit. No sense not taking one, but he'd have to look into getting an earpiece. Getting found because someone on the radio wouldn't shut up was not the best way to go.

Blight grabbed a walkie-talkie, although he didn't plan to use it much.

Ross waited a few minutes after giving Clark the camera, to give everyone a chance to finish getting ready before speaking up again. "Alright, let's move. Time to go hunting" Ross said, and led the group down the stairs.

With nobody else using the stairs at that exact time, the climb down was uneventful. Once at the ground floor, Ross exited out into the lobby area. It was still the same as the group would've remembered entering the building; somewhat dusty, with the previously glass doors boarded up as expected. The semi-circle reception desk built into the floor remained, though none of the accessories were there.

The only person there was a girl in her late teens, somewhat Hispanic looking with long black hair in a ponytail. Her outfit was seemingly normal; white sneakers, blue jeans, a dark purple hoodie with a space invader on it, and a backpack that was mostly black with a few red stripes. If it weren't for the generally worn state the clothes were in, and the revolver on her hip, she could be mistaken as just about to go to school. As Ross and the others entered, she was just putting on some black gloves. She looked at Ross and gave him a cheerful smile. "Hey Ross! Heading out?" She called over.

"Yeah, gonna see what these new folks can do" Ross answered, heading for the door. "You wanna come with? We could keep you safe" he offered.

"Nah. Gonna keep looking in a place I already cleared" the girl said back.

"And where's that?" Ross asked, stopping at the door.

"You know I can't tell you; there's some good stuff in there to sell" she told him, smiling cheekily.

Clark eyed the girl. "How could you be convinced to give us the first look at whatever you pull out of this mysterious locale of yours?" He asked. "Anything related to our job, of course."

Hearing what Clark had said, Dean looked up at the girl through his metal helm and said, "If you could, out of the grace of your heart, that would be very much appreciated. Especially if you happen to find anything made of silver. Our profession often requires extensive amounts of that precious metal.", as he finished he put his hands together and gave a small bow.

"Ross and mistery girl kissing under a tree..." Alearth quipped, giggling as she hovered past by, her smile as cheery as ever.

The girl contemplated what Clark and Dean said, putting a finger on her chin. "Mmm, depends on what I find. Though I don't expect anything made of silver" she said, before her eyes widened as Alearth passed by. She took a step back, exclaiming something in Spanish.*

Ross's eyes bugged out a bit at Alearth's quip, and he looked at her with one eyebrow raised. The fact that he was over forty and the girl was in her late teens made it all the weirder. "Urm, gentlemen this is Malena Domitila. She's one of the scavengers staying here" Ross explained, finally taking his gaze off Alearth.

"Ross, I thought they were exaggerating when they mentioned the little demon! Why are you keeping that thing?!" Malena asked, poking Ross in the shoulder.

"She seems harmless enough" Ross answered with a shrug. "Anyway, we've gotta get moving before we lose too much daylight. You should probably go too" he added to Malena before turning to the others. "Unless there's anything else you think we should do before leaving?" Ross questioned them.

Blight looked at Alearth, surprised. It may have been unoriginal, but the taunt showed she had a sense of humor. The kind of sense of humor he could get behind.

The cat stared at the scavenger.

Clark chuckled ever so quietly. "Quite real, and on a leash." He said. "Surrounded by people with guns, if that makes you feel any better." He turned his attention to Ross. "I am prepared to hunt." He affirmed.

Alearth did look peeved at the comments, as she hovered a few centimeters lower. "It's not a leash." She pouted. "It's my special fun necklace."

Her eyes narrowed. "But of course, all you want is to look cool so you can look at her boobies."

Blight's look of surprise morphed into a big grin.

"Okay, demon-baby's cool now."

Clark rolled his eyes. "Unlike your kind, most humans dislike the idea of sexualizing people who may or may not be under the age of consent." He said. "Don't assume that everyone thinks like you do."

"I've always went with the Japanese law on that one." Blight said.

The cat jumped on the desk, as if to get a better look at Malena.

Jadis seemed to eminate distaste for the subject. Pedophilia was one of those things that she disliked with a passion. As in, the type that ended with the person performing it with no kneecaps, and quite possibly less then that.

However, now was not the time for such sentiments.

Turning to the scavenger, the sniper gave a nod. "If we require an item, we will be in touch. However, more information is required until we reach that point."

At this point in the investigation, no one knew anything. There were too many monsters, raiders, and just plain unsteady buildings to say what the disappearence was caused by. Until they found evidence to support being killed or otherwise incapacitated, they could not prepare to face whatever had caused it.
