This makes me wanna play SC 6 again.
"Geralt of Rivia. Switcher."
Nintendo is allowing full refunds for Overwatch even though you usually can't refund eShop games.
They've also been ignoring the game's launch.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?To be fair, I didn't see all that much excitement for the Switch port of the game to begin with.
I love how the Switch port of Overwatch seems so slapdash the "sorry you need the latest patch" screen is just a black screen with stock font.
It's understandable given that Japan and China really don't get along, but also notable in that this puts genuine financial pressure on Blizzard, unlike all those fan boycotts.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"This does of course run the risk of the investors and executives noticing and going, "Nintendo is screwing us out of our money, so let's not put our games on their consoles in the future."
Anything to hurt Activision Blizzard is a win in my book. Even if it's just in comparison to a over all net gain, it still sends the message that there's consequences for pulling shit like this. If you rock the boat hard enough, some of your crew will jump ship.
Overwatch on switch supposedly plays horridly being locked at 30 FPS and has a lot of framerate issues even keeping that.
Oh yeah, that team that wasnt punished but quit in protest...
They get a 6 month ban but not the casters.

Good job Blizzard, y'all just got shat on by the Witcher port that just showed up.
Banning them after the quit sounds hilariously pitiful.
Even more amusing is how satisfied they are over being banned.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""You can't quit! You're fired!"
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. It's a sad month to be an Overwatch fan
Uni catI was always a Team Fortress 2 person anyway. I played Team Fortress Classic back in the day (wasn't very good at it due to the Bunny hopping reliance and grenade spam), and went on to be an early player of the sequel. Overwatch had absolutely no history or hype on my end.

I fall in & out of it & I've been pretty dissapointed by how little story material like comics or animations we get.
Its a new IP, how would it have "history"?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I always felt Overwatch tried too hard to get taken seriously, and besides if you care about lore, then its hugely pro Talon by this point. At least TF 2 isn't afraid to be optimistic and goof right the hell off.
Also there's not really any story. there's lots and lots of prequel material, but it's like we start at the Avengers opening, don't progress any further, and get flashbacks to the members' films.
That's my point. Not saying that I'd turn my head away from anything new, but Overwatch really didn't get my attention whatsoever. Still doesn't.
It was a weird choice to try and make a game that's lore-intensive and character-driven but is also a MOBA so the lore and characters don't matter and the plot will never, ever go anywhere.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I'm pretty sure most of its hype is just from being Blizzard's first new property in decades.
So you weren't interested in a game...... that's it? I mean that happens to everyone.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."In fact, that decision was almost as weird as that time some loser tried to make a trading-card game, a trading-card game of all things, with a rich and complex plot. What was that called? Magic: The Gathering? Yeah, that old thing. Whatever happened to that?
...
What's that?
One of the biggest TCGs ever made?!
STILL?!
...
Well, f*ck me, I guess.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Is it? Look at League of Legends which has it's own super dense lore. Or, heck, DOTA 2.
If anything "Lore that's not really reflected in gameplay" is part of the MOBA genre
And arguably Overwatch's lore and character-driven-ness is what made the game take off at all.
(And that was like 8 years ago)

Games like MOBA's ARE character driven. Not necessarily in the sense that they have a deep story or anything, but that the personality, visuals and fantasy of the characters matter A LOT to the playerbase and it's one of the biggest drives behind community engagement.
So you do kind of need cool, memorable characters if you want your game to take off. They don't have to be (and arguably, can't be) particularly complex or multifaceted, but they still need to be fun and appealing in some way.
