I'm specifically thinking of Katawa Shoujo, which is definitely an example of Come For The X Stay For The Y (lots of people were initially drawn in by curiosity about the tasteless-sounding premise, only to find the story touching.) I'm thinking it might be a Dancing Bear in that many of those people didn't expect it to be any good.
