First, I disagree with you being a bad GM. In my opinion, you're a good, yet flawed, GM. Second, I do, however, agree with the flaws you pointed out. Third, I think that your suggested solution is probably the best way to solve the problems. Fourth, might I ask how you're going to decide who the sub-GM will be?

Well, it would depend on availability, previous experience as a GM, and interest in the RP itself.
...I'm having a thought. Perhaps, each person who would be willing and able to co-GM, each have a period where they do some GM work, like, say, a preordained event or encounter, and then we/I decide based on the performance who should become the second in command.
I would like to throw my gauntlet into the ring for this.
I would like to withhold my gauntlet, since I'm already GMing two, so that means that you've only got, what? Three people to choose from now?
And bro, you aren't a bad GM, so stop trying to beat yourself with that stick. It's just that there's always a bit of apathy on everyone's part after that new-RP smell fades.

Yeah, Lizard, you've done a good job as GM so far. Don't let the lazy get to you- that's what crashed my last two attempts to run an RP. In fact, I'm about to start up a third, so I guess I can sub-GM to some extent for practice.
Maybe each sub-GM should work with a portion of the events in game, like dealing with a specific type of Lightlife. They'd provide the roles of NonPlayerCharacters and help move things along, as well as come up with potential plot points for that subplot to run by you. I personally would like a hand in running the Militia of Vengeance subplot.
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!You're right, I'm sorry. Everyone says my ideas are good, so I shouldn't criticize my skill as a world creator. It's the execution that's the thing.
Nman: Yes, we are rather undermanned, aren't we? Don't suppose we could find a way to invite more prospective players, like get the word out or something?
TYM: That's a good idea. Still, though, I'd like to get a feel for everyone's G Ming style before making any assignments like that.
Well, when one of my RP's was on the verge of dying, Test Your Might made a character and that got the ball rolling for five more to join.... but I don't think that'll work in this case.
I'd suggest making a new signup thread, seeing who bites, and working from there - but maybe we should look at the people who dropped, first. Though. Motree, IP, and Claw left for good (I think), but I dunno, what happened to Aralyn?
Come to think of it, I haven't seen Motree around for a while.
Also, Lizard, how are you supposed to gauge our GMing styles?

J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!Actually, that wouldn't be needed.
You see, sometimes bumping a thread merely gives back interest. It happened with World of Skara Brae (before all the players disappeared again...sigh...)
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree. We all just need to pretend to have a conversation in the signup thread, then
Gah, fckl. I'm stupid. Peru isn't in the same time zone as Seattle...
TYM: My judgement will be based on the frequency of updates, the effectiveness of conveying the story, and enjoyment had by all.
All right, enough putting it off, Lizard. Time to begin the Co-GM testing grounds. Anyone want to go first?
Guess I left it too long.
I don't think I'd make a good Co-GM...I was waiting for another to take up the role...
Some people say I'm lazy. It's hard to disagree.
GAAAAAH I'M HERE I'M HERE DON'T CRY!
(Huffs, puffs)
...gentlemen. It is time we took the elephant in the room, and looked it square in the eye. I am not that good a GM. The past week, I've been leading an event on the Massive Multi Fandom RPG, and it has been a learning experience for me. What have I learned? Firstly, I have good ideas, but they seem more like a string of ideas when I try to put them to work. Secondly, I have trouble with pushing the story forward at a continuous speed, either due to neglect, to writer's block, to fostering too much responsibility on the players, or due to being A LAZY FUCKING BASTARD.
So, with that done, here is what I'm proposing. I know this whole thing has been stop-and-start, but it seems like most of you enjoy it, and I've put too much thought into it to let it die. So, I'm thinking I should assign a sub-GM, whose goal will be to help the story progress, mostly by giving me the occasional poke in the rear. I would still be in charge of all the ideas and stuff, but this other guy will help navigation and keep me strapped tight to the driver's seat.
Thoughts?
