A thread to discuss the Trails Series of video games (known in Japan as the Kiseki series). Adaptations of the games are also on-topic.
As of May 2024, there is no specific spoiler policy for this thread, which means the the default forum spoiler policy applies. In summary:
- Spoilers for non-episodic works should remain tagged for a minimum of one month after the work's release.
- Spoilers for episodic works (including any DLC) should remain tagged for one month or until the next instalment releases, whichever is shorter.
There hasn't been much good news in months for people who want more Legend Of Heroes VI in English. Xseed has apparently been translating the second installment for PSP, but no release date yet, and they apparently have not had much sales success. Meanwhile, there have been no official statements about releasing the Windows versions in English.
But thanks to this Andriasang article, I learned that Aeria Games (best known for MMORPGs) plans to release the Trails in the Sky trilogy internationally on smartphones. Some online and social functions will be added to the basic gameplay. No clear indication of what international smartphone platforms just yet.

Here's one I found on the Kiseki wiki that seems to have come from Dengeki.
Oh God! Natural light!Strange that Leman's not even depicted in shadow.
Oh God! Natural light!Still feel Leman will be the place where the final game will take place.
I mean it is both where the Orbal Revolution started and where the Bracer Guild was created, so it gives a nice Bookend feel to the whole thing.
Also I kind of just want to play as a Bracer again rather than the rip-offs in the other games. Literally so in Crossbell.
On a side note, I hope that Rin (Ling? Lynn? The Taito bracer from the Crossbell games) shows up again. She seemed kind of cool - she might work as, like, an older sister figure (or even an actual older sister) to one of the protagonists in Calvard.
Oh God! Natural light!I want more Anelace.
That does exist. "The Outside" is where the Salt Pale and McBurn came from and that's basically all we know about it.

This song needs more love.I'm also interested in that Nielsen reporter guy (who I'm, like, 50% certain is the First Anguis).
Oh God! Natural light!I thought that was supposed to be some interdimensional bullshit, like in The Dresden Files.

As far as I know, "Not in Zemuria" is the only thing solidly known about its location. Everything else is guesswork on the part of the characters.
It's either him or Tita's Dad. Mark it.

This song needs more love. What, are we forgetting Jill?
...who?
Like, I've played all the games up to CSIII, but sometimes it's hard to keep track of everyone's names.

Tita’s dad would be a weird choice, I think? If only because I don’t think it’d suit his appearances much. Nielsen, I think could have developed a robust network of connections under the guise of a reporter that could serve Ouroboros well. The main sticking points are that some of his incidental dialogue when he just seems to be talking to himself seems a bit odd if he knew what the Phantasmal Blaze Plan was, and I do wonder if the hints he gives Lloyd might be counterproductive (then again, the others involved in the plan don’t seem very keen on actually stopping the SSS, so perhaps that wasn’t the issue).
In any case, what about Four and Five? The big guess for Four seemed to be Lechter for awhile, but that seems thoroughly jossed now.
Student Council President at Jenis Royal Academy and Kloe’s friend.

Oh God! Natural light!I suspect we simply haven't met 4 or 5 yet.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I swear to God, erm, Aidios, I actually remembered Jill's name off the top of my head, but I had to look up Kloe.
Did I mentioned that I find her really boring?
Hmm...wonder if either will make an appearance in Origins, even if we don’t know it’s them...
Also, crazy idea (though spoilers for CS IV) - would it be out of character for Aurelia to take Arianrhod’s spot as Seventh Anguis if someone made her the offer? Like, I’m thinking they’d probably make the sales pitch of “Hey, come help us do these really important things (and fight really strong guys)”, but even then, would that be enough?
Oh God! Natural light!x4 I agree it's probably Nielsen, I just wanted to make the voice actor joke.
That said, the Fourth Anguis shares a VA with Machias' dad. Just throwing that out there (no I don't think he's it).
That would be out of character. Ouroboros' actions are well-documented at this point and they've put a lot of people in danger.

This song needs more love.Just so we're on the same page, is Nielson the same reporter from Sky, or are they two completely different people?
No, that's Crossbell. You're thinking of Nial.
I totally agree with what people above are saying about the Imperialism/conquest getting excused away.
I only skimmed the above discussion though, since I'm trying to avoid IV spoilers.
I'm hoping they'll be a window where all the games are out in English so I'll be able to look up speculation ect without spoilers.
There are big chunks of this thread I've totally avoided because of III/IV spoilers which I look forward to reading once IV comes out.
Nielsen is the blind guy who first appears on the airship in 3rd, weirding Kevin out that he seems familiar. In the Crossbell arc he turns out to be a freelance reporter with all the connections.
In CSIV He is working with both Grace Lynn AND Thomas... He is something but I don't think he is an Ouroboros guy. I wouldn't be shocked if he was used by both sides though and both sides knew.

A fishing related question for Cold Steel III.
Previously I wasn't too fussed about fishing, because in I and II I could always get fish later on.
But when I went to pick up some missing fish at the River in Chapter 4 it seems like I may have permanently missed a fish.
Specifically the Azelfish.
Is that really missable since I didn't get one while in Crossbell?
All fish are catchable in chapter 4; Azelfish specifically is at the fishing spot on west ostia highway.
I have yet to see a good English guide for missables but when I was playing the initial release I found a Japanese site that has a really solid guide and is mostly understandable with Google translate. They have CSIV as well for when it releases over here.
Thanks very much :)
That's a relief to know.
There is yes, let me find the link
