Yo, I just got home, and I glanced at this when I was walking through the door, basically. What all did you tweak?

I made it slightly less wall-texty and emphasised the case-to-case thing Space mentioned, since that's still a thing. We had Gohan in safely at one point, so it really does bear repeating.

I just think having a clear basis of what we want is better than letting people use their good judgement, because we all know what happens when we do that.

they would have to run new characters by everyone anyways y'know

it's not like they'd be able to bring in godkiller deathsmash when nobody is looking

That's true, but at the same time what we want varies wildly. Gohan, remember?

There are also a lot of RPs where the Doctor is banned, and he's been around for a while here.

Of course, this is all rather hypothetical given how full the RP is and how long it'll be before it gets unlocked, so...

I think it's good and clear as it is. If someone seems dodgy when they come, we can always just say "sorry, we'd rather you start out with a less powerful character just to make sure we know you have a handle on things".

DBZ chars are nerfed down in their own series so they can fight in beautiful backdrops with blowing it all up instantly.

To be perfectly honest, I never really liked the whole sarcastic tone we had in the rules. It makes them seem less like rules and more like whining at the person reading them.

But that's just me.

Like maybe sarcastic isn't the best word but still.

All the stuff begging people to read the rules, and I understand people didn't read them before, but seeing "Please read the rules." every other line gets a little tiring.

I think people are smart enough to read the rules now, and anyone who doesn't isn't going to be around long.

And the second line of number five seems to just be there to be a joke, one aimed at the reader.

I'm leaving the please read the rules bit in because it's still necessary. Every single voting session, without fail, at least two or three people mess up, or vote early, or publicly, or ask how to vote when I link to the rules in my signature every single time.

Five isn't a joke, it's meant to be serious. That's why it says seriously.

And if Five is serious all it needs is "Don't be an asshole." We don't really need to emphasize it like that because its sort of like we're expecting the person to be an asshole.

i agree with space. i think jam reading to much into it.

My opinion is that I would rather leave the PLEASE READ THE RULES bit in because every time we have problems. I won't name names to preserve dignity, but it's not just newbies that make these mistakes and I'll leave it at that.

As for the don't be an asshole thing, I don't really know. Sorry.

I say leave all instances of "Please read the rules" in, but maybe edit each instance to keep it formal and non-frustrated/snarky.

So avoid all-caps, colored text or exclamation marks. Bolding or italicizing these instances is fine.

Polls are open. I know we have a few newbies (and some oldbies, you guys do it too), so I will remind them to read the rules. If it becomes evident the rules have not been read, your vote will be discarded. Thank you.

So, I've been kinda bored surfing through the site for some time and I was hoping I could join in your troupe of R Ping.

The RP's (this thread) signups are closed due to too many people, but the FG is always open.
