I hope so.

I haven't checked out her issue yet, but it sounds like she's pretty cool, and she deserves a chance, even if it kinda it kinda means that Donna and Cassie are again getting tossed under the bus by sheer virtue of this new girl getting such a huge push over two characters who've been around for years.

Yara kinda has the Artemis tilt to her 'which gives her an advantage'

in that instead of sidekick She's designed to be standalone iteration of WW

which gives her room to find a niche'... The only problem is again WW's mythos gets treated like its more of a hassle then strength

Artemis works cause she can be a less ideal/ less noble WW but still be a hero similar to how Jason can be a less idealized version of a Bat Family member

___

Cassie pretty much lost the majority of her steam the moment she was ported over to Teen Titans 03

Cause just like Donna, Cassie has been straddled with the "THE GIRLFRIEND" Johns is known to inflict on Female characters making them love interests and SOLELY love interests 'even if it don't make sense to his own plot'

Her character revolves around Superboy... even in his absence.

Cassie has never really recovered from that. Like People praise Johns for his retcons to Impulse and Superboy 'Frankly All he did was take all the fun parts out of Kon and made him a moodier navel gazerier Clark Jr clone... with a bland outfit YEAH I SAID IT KON WAS BETTER WHEN HE WAS CLONE OF SOME RANDOM NOBODY!!'

Sensational Wonder Woman#1 and 2 was pretty 'eh', bit of a Wanda Vision vibe, and I feel like it'd have had more dramatic tension/impact if Douglas had been Steve.

Random question, but has Hades ever shown up in Wonder Woman? I know he had in the New 52 era as well as that animated movie, but I find it a bit strange he hasn't show up too much given her connections to the pantheon.

He's shown up a few times, pre a d post crisis. He was initially used as a villain under Marston but pulled a herl face turn. Post crisis depicts him as a more neutral figure.

[up] Neat! I remember seeing a story mentioned on Ascended Fridge Horror that involved him and Ares, and got curious.

"In Wonder Woman (1987) Diana gets Ares to step back and reevaluate—making him an occasional incredibly antagonistic ally for the rest of the series—by showing him that his goal of causing a nuclear WWIII would kill him by destroying the human race thereby killing anyone who might make war, believe in him, or even spread stories about him, the first and last of which he requires to exist. This made some readers wary when years later Ares usurped Hades and became Lord of the Dead since he now only needs the souls of the dead in Hades for power. Sure enough, in the next series Ares tries to use Genocide in a plot specifically designed to kill off everyone on earth."

There was a Diana/Steve story in the Love Is A Battlefield special. Seems they were dating again sometime prior to Death Metal.

Yara probably won't, I mean she's already becoming a high-profile character what with the upcoming Tv-show and being Diana's potential successor in the future.

Yeah, about that TV show...

It ain't happening, chief.

Also, I don't want to be seen as a butthole, but maybe it's not the worst thing? Yara's only been around for, what, a few issues now? Feels pretty early for her to have a TV show IMO.

Well that sucks.

2021 hasn't been too good for the Wonder Woman franchise thus far.

Also that DC Ink graphic novel Nubia: Real One is coming out in 3 days.

Shit since I gave DC derision for their underuse of Nubia, I'll add the book to my wish list to eventually buy it.

Themyscira will be in Space Jam 2.

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Malcolm D. Lee confirmed that when James meets Lola Bunny, it’ll be on DC’s Amazonian island of Themyscira, as seen in the recent Wonder Woman movies. “We wanted to meet her with the Amazons, trying to find greener pastures for herself,” Lee explained. “As she says in the movie, there’s more to her than just being a Tune.”

Just finished the first collection of George Perez's run (issues 1-14). I can definitely see how the first arc would go on to influence the 2017 movie. The second arc is a little more uneven imo because of the tie-in aspect to Millennium, but I did think the whole "Diana Trevor" reveal was interesting and a way to add depth to Steve's character.

Justice Society: World War II Started as a Wonder Woman Series

Producer Butch Lukic revealed that he was developing a Wonder Woman series that during World War II that never came to pass. After the success of the 2017 live-action Wonder Woman film, Lukic incorporated some of the ideas for the series as he was developing pitches for the next wave of DC animated movies.

"When we had to pitch to DC storylines we were going to produce for the DC Animated Universe — obviously, we've got to do Batman which we ended up doing as The Long Halloween and we restarted a new version of Superman — this came about because I wanted to do a World War II story with Wonder Woman, because I initially had a pitch with DC Access to do a Wonder Woman series based in World War II," Lukic tells CBR.

"This was before the first Wonder Woman movie came out; while we were pitching it, we found out that they were doing a World War I take on Wonder Woman. And I thought it would be good to do this as a series, but the development didn't last long because they didn't think Wonder Woman had legs, not until the movie came out that they realized 'Oh shit, this is a moneymaker.' So I just took some of the ideas that we had for that series and applied them towards this film."

Wonder Woman and the other Amazons are due for a massive event in 2022: Trial of the Amazons

Pretty much every WW related team is on this; Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad (Wonder Woman), Vita Ayala and Stephanie Williams (Nubia and the Amazons), Joëlle Jones (Wonder Girl), and Jordie Bellaire (Wonder Woman: The Adventures Of Young Diana)!

Expect Nubia and the Amazons #1 to lay the groundwork for this event.

And don't panic: you can't see them in the Jen Bartel piece, but Donna and Cassie and Jumpa the Kangaroo will be in this.
