Botanthropes, aka Plant Trolls

Geothropes, aka Shell Trolls

The most common kind of Shell Troll are those with shells of plant matter, so the common man cannot differentiate between this shell troll and a plant troll so they are lumped together as the same race.

I had already added Dhaul myself.

Anywho, thinking about making 'Power Crystals' a generic thing more possibly available for PCs, and have them 'based' on the Undeniable Crystals.

Re-doing the physiological profiles of the unused races, starting with trolls, to make them work better.

[up][up]Bluh, language. Could refer to either a wizard who makes magical constructs (preferably NOT technological in nature), or the Gift of the Paragon of Artifice, which, from what I understand, are basically psychic meth tweakers.

[up][up] The inspiration was more Lacryma from Fairy Tail.

Although the Gift of the Artificer being psychic meth tweakers. I could see that with some but not as a whole.

Also, thinking renaming The Lucky to The Fated or The Fortunate to make them seem less ridiculous.

The Blessed

Blessed by Fate, by Fortune, by Luck, the Fated, the Fortunate, the Lucky. They have a number of epitaphs; derivative, respectful and neutral, to refer to the third class of 'Legends'. The first was the Gifted, bearing an ancient genetic marker that made great power awaken in them, the second was the Dedicated, who by hard work grasped power like a vice grip of an unshakable drive, and the then their is the last, those who stumbled and tripped upon their power. Some argue that this shouldn't even be a classification, that it is hard to define (Although, so are the Dedicated), that it was not earned (But then, neither did the Gifted). However, when you have three swordsmen, one with Gift of the Swordsman Paragon, one who Dedicated his life to being a swordsman and one who found a magic sword it's easier for people give that last man some kind of label.

Blessed Gift

An uncommon term, it refers to those that some stimulus directly awakened their Gift outside the normal means. It's fairly vague though.

Gift of Blessings

Largely theoretical, it is believed some may have the Psionic Gift to subconsciously manipulate probability in their favor, ending with them becoming Blessed in some fashion.

Dedicated to Blessing

Another fairly vague and possibly contradictory term, referring to those who got a 'Blessing' by Dedication. Like the Biourgist who gives himself super powers on purpose, or the adventurer who intentionally seeks out artifacts of power. It would be inaccurate to say that either of these or others tripped over their power but especially like the artifact-seeking adventurer they may be derided for not having their own power.

I agree to reworking the unused races.

Before I tally the votes, here's another contribution of my own.

The Traveler

The Traveler is a minor legendary character who appears in most of Sceal's cultural records. It's a mysterious man who shows up, may or may not do anything of importance, and then moves on. Really, if it weren't for the fact that he's been mentioned for thousands of years people would probably have forgotten about him by now. However, he just keeps showing up.

There's also the little fact that The Traveler isn't from Sceal, but from a different world!

Which world, nobody knows, not even The Gods. Very few beings are aware of this fact, mostly the Celestials. And those who are aware of him, don't know quite what to do about him.

Most gods don't care, since he has -so far- never caused any major disruption. He mostly just seems to be... watching. But some deities are suspicious (especially the God Of Travelers, who is annoyed that people keep confusing the two of them) and they might have done something about him by now, except that by the time they get around to look for him (being a deity is busy work) he's vanished again.

Known facts about The Traveler:

  • He's been seen in both sides of the world, regardless of how inaccessible an area might be. He vanishes just as easily.
  • He's always male, but has been described as everything from a boy to a middle-aged man. Whether this means he's a shapeshifter or just the legends getting foggy over time is not known.
  • He never has any distinguishing features (like tattoos.) The better to blend in.
  • He's benevolent, if not exactly a hero. In fact most of the times he's revealed his presence have been precisely because someone near him has been in danger and he was forced to intercede.
  • He's a powerful magic-user, though which kind of magic he uses is again unclear.
  • He keeps a low profile, though he's been known to converse and even give advise. If asked who he is, he usually responds, "Just a traveler."
  • Never seems interested in riches, fame or power. Rare knowledge (on all matters) on the other hand, does seem to attract him.

He was last seen in the Black Empire. So far, Hrod has not heard of him (or given him much thought.) He seemed to have been asking around about the Crystals of Inevitability.

Note: This character is meant mostly for a God Was My Copilot role, but can also be used as a Deus ex Machina if needed.

Power Crystals

The Crystals of Undeniability operate on a very simple strategy for gathering raw power and that's that everything is fair game: light, heat, kinetic, magnetic, radiation, psionic, magic, etcetera- suck it all up. The process by which they somehow do all of these things at once is mysterious but many of extrapolated how to make their own crystals that imitate one of these processes, gathering up energy to be later drawn upon for their own use. Their is plenty variation in the what and hows, although magic is the most common; drawn from the surroundings, from the wielder or from the very Aether.

Their some really particular good ones, like the Warrior Gem, that deserve recognition above others and some, like the Warrior Gem, might be less imitations of the Undeniable Crystals but parallel creations.

Trolls (Geothropes)

A geothrope troll is not in actuality what she seems to be. For one, a geothrope troll is a she. Actually, a geothrope troll is sexless creature that reproduces by asexual budding, but most translate themselves as 'she' in languages lacking sexless pronouns. A geothrope troll is a slug-worm creature with innate racial psionic abilities. It is hypothesized that the Psionic Gifts that the Dwarfs bear, that exist in humanoids all together, may originally been from spliced Troll genes by the ancient Dwarf people.

The racial Gift of the Geothrope Troll is the ability to psionically control matter around them, different breeds being drawn to different things. Alot of them go with plant matter though, making them easily mistaken for Botanthrope Trolls, hence why the two share a name. Most Geothrope Trolls have a limited range and potency, enough to construct a body. They are instinctively drawn to the humanoid shape, further supporting the Humanoid Perfection Theory. Their are those with increased range, power and variation of matter that make them demi-Legends.

Black Empire Facts #3

Measurement System

In the day before the Black Prince, the various leaders of the world used their body parts as measuring system, feet being fairly popular for measurements of length. However, new king, new measurement system, different king, different measurement system, it was messy. Stones were used for weight. It was worst. When Hrod became the immortal emperor of everything he surveyed, he figured it wasn't going to be messy anymore. He stuck with feet, removing both his a feet bones and measuring them both it as the new feet and the length measurement of the Black Empire was born. He preceded to do this for other measurements.

1/10 feet = 1 toe

1/10 toe = 1 finger

1/100 toe = 1 knuckle

100 feet = 1 jog

1000 feet = 1 run

100 runs = 1 marathon

1 feet is equivalent to 2 of the Imperial System feet.

1 skull = 2 pounds of the Imperial system

1/10 skull = 1 jaw

1/100 skull = 1 tooth

1000 skulls = "That's like, a ton of skulls." 1 ton

Necromancy

The magic of speaking to the dead. This is by far a sketchy and vastly mystical art form, hard to quantify or even prove. Those who doubt the afterlife deny it and even believers of life after death have their doubts in necromancy.

Necroturgic Necromancy

Their is wizardry way of doing it, accepted widely in the areas it is practiced. The corpse is animated and the animating entity given the tool needed to access the dead brain's memories. Where it is practiced, murderers will take measures to fool it, masking their identity, having the victim never see it coming or more commonly taking away the prerequisite for the spell, an intact corpse.

Shamanism

An off-shoot of necromancy, druidism and clericy, to take a non-corporeal entity and draw into oneself so as to access the abilities it would have as a corporeal entity.

Gift of the Shaman

This is not the Gift of the Shaman Paragon but it may as well be. The Gifted does not have a physical manifestation but a metaphysical one, a hollow bore out in their spirit. Spirits, see, inhabit things, often places, and their is a certain exchange between it and the place. A spirit that inhabits a river, for example, becomes a river spirit, becoming more attuned to magic having to do with rivers, like aquaturgy, and then to the river it gives that magic back.

A Shaman Gifted acts as a place, and lends to the spirit the very essence of life, corporeality, that spirit lacks and in exchange the Shaman gains the magic of the spirit, whatever that may be. Such bondings are normally more permanent and potent then normal shamanism.

Legion Spirits

A Shaman may collect multiple spirits into their hollow and somehow cause these spirits to fuse together. This fusion is often more then the sum of its parts, becoming Legion. The formation of a Legion Spirit is fairly rare and they are often coveted entities, heirlooms to be passed from one Shaman to the next.

Spirit Black Market

Gifts are rare and the Shaman Gift only a portion of it, but their are enough of them and enough of those interested in them to form a black market around the spirits they would hold. Criminal organizations that treat spirits much like dealer in illegal animals markets treat their beasts, except their cages are magical, but no less brutal and inhumane in their treatment. Shaman lumped with undesirable spirits may abandon their unfortunate spirit to shady dealers and those with desirable spirits may become targets of those who kidnap them and forcibly extract their companion.

Paladins (Shaman)

Paladin is a word that can refer to a number of particular art forms and crafts. In this context, it refers to Shaman who bear a separated portion of a Celestial God's being, a Celestial Spirit probably. By swearing themselves to this entity, they have become a living conduit of a power much greater then the strength of their Gift would normally bear.
