Ciel darted aside as the black energy poured at her position, not wanting to come in direct contact with the Demon's - well, whatever the corruption-like black miasma was, she didn't want to try her luck.
"Melody's" continued assertions that this was merely some kind of game irritated her, but she kept her patience. After all, she did once treat the whole business like a Deadly Game some years ago when she was a young and foolish newbie.
"This is no game or dream," she said calmly, warily waiting for any possible attack by the Demon, "it's happening before you right now. Don't believe me? Trying pinching yourself. Sorry Vera, but I've seen too many things to want to treat this as a game."

Alicia's expression grew more and more bewildered by the minute. LARP? Demons? Crazy people jumping civilians from nowhere? Whaaa-

"... No. There's no way this is a LARP."
A frown replaced her bewilderment. "I don't know if you guys can feel it, but that... thing is clearly not human. Something's completely off about it. And I could swear it just attempted to invade my mind! What kind of LARPer could have such ridiculous abilities!? Tell me the truth!"
And then another weird girl jumped into the scene. And, best of all, this one just transformed before her very eyes.
This is definitely anything but normal!

A look of surprise flitted across Ciel's face as Asuka's attack struck the Demon. "Nice to see you in person, too," she said.

"But... It has to be!" Melody protested, her face twitching with a nervous grin. "It has to be, because if it's not..."
She gulped in fear.
"If it's not... Then this is all real. And... And what that kitty-rat-thing told me was..."
She reached a hand into her pocket and stroked her Soul Gem. No, it couldn't be... I know everything has a price, but...
"...So that stuff... About demons and... And magical girls... Was all true?"

"Looks like the demons are gone." Vera said exhausted. " Let me introduce myself. I'm Vera Carol. I'm a Magical Girl. That monster I thought was a demon."

As the Demon finally disintegrated from force of the attacks leveled at it, the world seemed to flicker again. Breathing a sigh of relief, one of the girls suddenly slammed Alicia with yet another surprise.
"Magical Girl...?"
Alicia could only stare in blank amazement at that statement. She had certainly watched her fair share of magical girl animes, but none of that could be possible in real life. This was a world of science, as much as she hated to admit it. Magic didn't exist. Right?
And yet, the proof of its existence was standing right before her.
"... You're really a Magical Girl? All of you?"

Shizuko stands atop the tallest building in the city. She'd gone there to get a better look at the city... Far below she saw the miasma gathering. I hope I get there before someone gets... before someone else kills it, and steals its energy from me. She leaps off of the building, and begins to travel to where she saw the gathering miasma.
She runs through the crowded streets of the city, slipping between people, unseen, unheard, unnoticed. The crowd begins to thin as she approaches the place where she had seen the gathering miasma, and she readies two knives, Hopefully my arm isn't too damaged... With that final thought, she rounds the final corner hoping to see the demon, and ready to attack. She stops herself moments before she took off the head of one of them, an American, with a knife. Well, now I'm really glad I don't get noticed...
Melody stared on at Alicia and Vera, only really figuring out a few words they were saying. English... Was not her strong point. But she thought she understood the bare gist of it.
...At the very least, she picked up the words "Magical girl", "monster" and "attack humans".
"So, um..." she began, "Attack humans... Because Magical girl... Is monster?"
...Not her strong point.

" Magical girls are heroes." she tried to say simply. " Demons are monsters."

Alicia closed her eyes and shook her head vigorously, clearing her mind. "I'm forgetting my manners, aren't I? I'm Alicia, Alicia Maxwell; but you can call me Alice. Thank you for saving me. I thought I really was going to die back there."
Now that her initial bewilderment was gone, curiosity took its place. "If you don't mind me asking, how did you even become a Magical Girl to begin with? There has to be something you did to gain those powers."

"Um..." Melody nodded, although still rather confused. "So demons... Bad. Magical girls... Good?"

But I do it because I've always wanted to be a hero." She turned to Melody. "Sorry. I forgot to balance the conversation for the sake of all speakers." she said. "What you said is correct."

Shizuko held herself steady, slightly scared to move. What is she even saying? Is that... American? No... Americans don't speak American, do they... They speak Canadian. I wish I could understand her Canadian... Slowly, Shizuko began to move her knife away from the American's head, attempting not to bump into her, and gain her notice.

Melody reached into her pocket and pulled out her Soul Gem, which was currently glowing a dangerously dull red.
"I... Got this from the Cube-kitty. And from what I've gathered... You probably all have one too, right? So, um, what I'm basically asking is..."
"...Does that make me a magical girl too?"

Alicia nodded once. "Kyubey, huh? Where could I find him? He doesn't sound like the kind of thing that'd appear in the middle of the street... oh!" Turning to Melody, she continued, this time in fairly fluent Japanese: "Sorry, I forgot I was in Japan. My name is Alicia Maxwell; nice to meet you!"
She bowed politely.

Shizuko manages to bring her arm back, and she turns to leave. Its a good thing they didn't notice me, that would've been... Her thoughts were broken by a throb of pain from her wounded arm, and she dropped the knife in that hand, which clattered on the ground for all to see and hear. Damn. I guess I shouldn't fight with it yet...
"'Sup, Alicia," Melody nodded at Alicia. "I'm Melody. Melody Harmonia."
"Um... Cleaning it? Uh..." She began rubbing her Soul Gem, trying to wipe all the dust off it. "Um... Is, uh... Is that better? I mean, uh, it'd kinda, um, suck to die, ahah."
The girl in question they were supposed to save came into view. And so did the Demon. She had to empathize with the innocent bystander. To be on her end of the spectrum — faced with a being of unspeakable horror and be pretty much powerless to escape it. No. This girl would not be a victim of their sinister misdeeds.
Taking a solid leap mid-run her soul gem burst into a bright multicolored radiance. Her body took on a shimmery glow, resembling that of a disco ball or dance floor. From there the majority of her outfit formed onto her body, fitting her like a second skin. Passing a hand through her hair caused a pair of stylish, bronze headphones to materialize in a puff of miniature treble clefs. By the time she landed with both feet on the ground again, she was no longer the Asuka Hamasaki her friends and others knew of.
Ciel's kick was timely, garnering a grin out of the newly transformed magical girl. "Nice to finally meet you face to face." With a flourish of her wrist she called upon her power to bring forth about a dozen or so shiny, black records that wobbled in midair around her. With nothing else said she commanded them to shoot forward and embed themselves into the already injured demon.
