Rumpelstiltskin probably wasn't there because he was locked up an unable to visit. Though even if he HAD been there, I'm guessing he probably wouldn't have been invited anyway because I doubt anyone else trusts him.

And yet he probably would have found a way to attend anyway.

So, about the latest episode. If the real prince died, and his twin brother took over his role, is "James" his name or the name of the dead prince? I was under the impression it was the name of the dead prince because the King calls him that in front of Midas, and obviously, Midas would have noticed if it wasn't the same name as before. So, that begs the question of what is "James"'s real name? Did we hear his mother call him something?

I'm somewhat amused that three of the four royalty characters, excluding the Queen, we've seen so far come from humble origins. I'm half-expecting to find out that Cinderella's husband, whose name I can't remember, used to be a peasant or the bastard child of the king, making four for four for the hell of it.

So looks like they broke out the LLR trope already? Huh, most shows usually wait at least until the 4th season until they play that card so we can at least get a feel of the character before and it's more surprising.

YMMV: After watching tonight's episode, I've come to realize how very little I actually like any of these characters. Truly the only character I find myself enjoying continually is Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold and that's because he's just so much fun to watch. I've been waiting for his Lower-Deck Episode since episode 2 and I hope it comes soon.

so, anyone else think Emma is Goldilocks?

Also, it makes sense to me that the shepherd's name is David.

[up][up] I never thought of that. I don't think she's supposed to be an actual fairy tale person though. Since she was born right when the curse struck, she wouldn't of had the chance to become part of the fairy tale world.

After last night, I think it's safe to say we know what Rumplestillskin is doing with those babies at least. I seriously thought it was something creepier though. Like maybe he was eating them or something.

I kind of hope that a Bigger Bad shows up, because Regina has some redeeming qualities, and it's hard to totally peg what Rumple/Gold wants.

I think it's possible that Emma could be an incarnation of some fairy tale character, perhaps one that already died in fairytaleland. Kind of like (spoiler here) how Shadow of American Gods, who is the son of the American Odin, turns out to be the American incarnation of Baldr.

I'm mainly thinking it because she ate the bear claw. And the curls.

[up] The fact that she's blond certianly helps your case. I don't think Henry is anyone though. He wasn't involved in the fairytale world beyond being Emma's son.

Isn't he Geppetto?

No. Bra'tac is Gepetto (can't remember his real world name).

No. It's rather well established that Gepetto is the old man who's friends with Dr. Hopper(Jiminy Cricket).

I can't be the only one wondering whether they're going in the direction of Jiminny/Geppeto. There's a slight age difference, but there's a lot of talk of the two of them being very close friends, which sounds like an euphanism. Plus, it'd add an interesting wrinkle to the Pinnochio plot.

[up]... He wasn't... Geppetto was Geppetto... The only person named Henry in fairy-tale land was the Queen's father.

Oh crap that's creepy. Gepetto's parents turn into dolls, and then he spends the rest of his life as a doll maker. Whut.

Those dolls, btw, are a total Checkhov's gun. Jiminy's parents too, if I'm right in thinking that we never see what happens to them. Memory Cheats. Sure, there's no logical reason why they should have somehow survived, but they were by far the most effective villains to turn up on the show.

I have a nice little question: How are the fairy tail world and the real world related?

I can come up with 3 models:

1. The frairy tail world exists in stories in the real world and always has been. This means that the lives of the fairy tail characters and everything that happened to them so far, have been "decided" by the stories. The Curse brought the stories to life. Kinda like Refugee from TV Land

2. The fairy tail world did not exist as Storys in the real world, until the curse made it so. This would serve the purpose so that whenever someone should remember their own life, they could be shrugged of as delusional and would be put into a hospital, thus keeping them trapped by the curse. It also means, that the sorys retell what really happened, not the other way around.

3. This is the most interesting for me. The Curse created a miserable world for the fairy tail characters so they could be trapped. In this world, the fairy tails are just storys, for reasons like (2.). This means, that the fairy tail world is real, and the real world is an illusion.

I think 1 or 2 are most likeley, but i'd love to see 3.

Ok... There are "dick moves", and then there's "dude, what the frak."

The ending was the latter.

I'm curious as to the cause of the huntsman's memory returning. I mean, is it because of proximity, or is it because he started feeling again?

I'm betting on the latter...
