Focus less on the fanservice, and more on the plot.

It won't be as horrible as Seasons 2 and 3, but probably won't end with anything but a vague finale.

So long as we get to the part where Saito regains his memories and breaks down crying, I might watch this part.

I hope Siesta is an acual character this season rather than the generic fan service girl she was in season 3.

[up] Not optimistic, seems this season will be Tiffania-focused (never liked her)

So far, this seems to be the best season since the first.

I just saw chapter 3 and it seemed as like a FULL volume of the light novel was in it... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fast...!!!

That's what happens when you want to put 5 volumes in a 12-14 chapter show....

Hey even S3 had a few plot centric episodes. Still, we're off to a good start so far and I'm liking what I'm seeing.

[up][up][up] I haven't caught up with the novels, but if that's true, then it did it well. That's what I call Adaptation Distillation.

How many Light Novel volumes does this series have to cover? It's been I while since I've read them.

Seasons 1-3 covered 13 or so novels, and there are currently 20 out on Baka Tsuki.

[up] I see. I remember hearing that there are supposed to be 22 in all, and since the guy writing the novels is overseeing the script, there shouldn't be too much trouble adapting 10 Light Novel volumes. I mean, someone mentioned that they adapted a whole volume into a single episode and that episode didn't feel too quickly paced (from the view of someone who hasn't read that novel), so they should be fine. Adaptation Decay is inevitable, but it's still good.

Dead thread is dead thread, and double posting is double posting but...

Episode 10 spoilers ... Why did they kill off DERFLINGER of all characters!? ... Sniff.. He was such an awesome snarking sword. ... He didn't talk much, but he was so memorable. He went out like how a sword should. In a fucking blaze of gory. ... Goodbye.

I'm liking this season well enough. The fanservice derailment isn't as bad as previously, and most instances where Louise beat up on Saito seem more mandated by the genre than part of what should be considered canon characterisation. Tiffania isn't my favourite character either, but she's not that bad here, probably because there's less of derailing boobies here. Now, I can stand seeing more of that genki dragon. Not that much character, but she's fun.

The only problem I had with the spoilered one was the lack of inclusion previously. There were so many occasions they missed, I believe.

I COULD use this time to nitpick and complain about the show's many flaws, but it had a heartwarming/awesome finale with some Book Ends and I'm crying a little bit right now.

Overall, it could have been better, but it was good. That's probably just nostalgia getting to me, but I legitimately enjoyed this final season despite its warts.

I think most anime series lack a good ending. Most of the time it's just some half-assed stop of narration. This one, was good. I think most of this final season was better than the other seasons, due to the lack of extreme "comedic" violence. Not a complete lack, but compared to the other seasons...

I do wonder, though... Where did Saito get the train fare from? It doesn't seem too likely that he'd manage to hold onto money from when he first arrived. He could've stolen some from the military base, I suppose.

[up][up] Yeah, it is one of the best anime finales I've seen in a while.

Since JC Staff is probably going to make a comedic OVA, I want them to do it about how Saito's parents reacted. It'll be absolutely hilarious if they decide to play it for comedy.

Really, great ending. I only wish the epic part would have been about the six thousand year long Void magic/Brimir/Gandalfr arc, instead of some random dragon out of nowhere.

Also, if there would be an OVA sequel, it should be about their wedding night, in a comical, "not a single fuck was given or received that night" way.
