I feel like tATu is very much a Hendrix Clause ala Modest Mouse
I'm having to learn to pay the priceModest Mouse actually fall under the Marley clause (together with Blur, Ramones and the aforementioned Bob Marley) since they didn't even manage a hit in the (Billboard) top 40
Bonus: Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio" has actually charted higher than these four acts' highest-charting songs.
Eh, I don't know. I'm not sure if they were really influential or popular as musicians enough to really apply to Hendrix Clause. In the US at least, they definitely had several other hits in Europe.

Fair
I'm having to learn to pay the priceIn which Todd finds himself pretty out of his depth.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."I dunno, I found the message of the single pretty easy to grasp. It's about contrasting the image white America wants to see of black people with the image of their actual reality. Wants to see the cheery dancing folks in TV and memes, ignores the actual violence and oppression. Glover's avatar dances oblivious to the cruelty around him, until it ends up coming for him too. That's basically it.
It kinda feels like Todd went out of his way to not read anything about the single in prep for his review. That's a valid choice since a metaphorical work should be capable of being understood on its own, but it might've helped if he had contrasted his opinion before and after reading about the song to dissect how it could've have communicated its meaning more effectively.
Maybe it's just the circles I hang out in, but most of the people I saw understood it pretty fast and from there had their own criticisms to make, such as that making gifs and memes of the video misses the point, or that Glover revels too much in "look at all these people die >:D", or also that it's not really saying anything new.
I interpreted the shootings more as a literal reference to all the shootings happening. Like, they're being shot because they're literally being shot, and them getting shot is the reality of America.
Not to nitpick, but there were several anti-Bush songs around the time of the Iraq war: Mosh by Eminem, Dear Mr President by Pink, Deify by Disturbed, Devour by Shinedown, Americon by Slayer, and probably several others I missed.
He probably means it was less of a cultural phenomenon than that surrounding Vietnam.
Optimism is a duty. Also, uhh, none of those songs you mentioned are, well good
There was also Lily Allen's "Fuck You", notable for being an anti-Bush song made outside the U.S.
And another one hit wonderland right on top:
I love how this one was requested by an actual pastor. It must be BAD if even Christians think it sucks, right?
Optimism is a duty.Nah, just a reupload.
Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.I'm pretty sure that one's a reupload. I remember seeing it a while ago. And it wasn't too bad, certainly not as bad as most Christian music.

I agree, it seems like a pretty decent band.
Optimism is a duty.It is a reupload.
Did everybody forget about Rock Against Bush?
Since he's had other artists on OHW who's biggest hit was a cover (Alien Ant Farm, Billy Ray Cyrus, Rick Derringer, and in a rare case of a cover of an instrumental, Meco) what other artists whose biggest hit was a cover could he do?
Lou Bega?

After the Fire |
King Harvest |
Nazareth |
Pseudo Echo (who he has already mentioned) |
Taco (who I am pretty sure has been requested again and again, because he’s kind of the archetypal 80s fluke one-hit wonder) |

Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883!Sinéad O'Connor. Probably a Hendrix Clause though.
Joke? Why are you calling it a joke? You drew a picture of two dudes hugging and wrote "I love hugs!" on it.I'd say the Hendrix Clause definitely applies to her, yeah.
Just a person. He/him.PseudoEcho's Cover of Funkytown was mentioned in Todd's Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 1987. I'm not sure if he feels the need to revisit it in more detail.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceThe Ataris maybe? Might be a Hendrix clause.
