They're not all acronyms... A good number of them are just romanized versions of the group's name(the romanization is likely done to catch attention)...
I think most of them are all-caps due to the fact that they aren't actual words, though...

So... The Today show on Friday and SNL on Saturday*... I'm thinking the Gangnam Style craze is more about the dance than anything else. I'm fine with the attention it's getting... I just don't think it'll translate to further K-pop listening...
But one of my local* "pop" radio stations actually had the song play on the radio without any introduction to it... As though it was just a normal song they play on daily basis.
And, for the life of me, I can't determine what that means...

This is kind of obvious. It's a viral video and yes, it's the dance and general WTF-ness people like, not the song.
It's just something people are having a laugh over right now, not something that will make them listen to T-ARA, SNSD, 2NE1, BIGBANG, BS 2 T or SECRET. Especially since the usual K-pop and Gangnam Style are so different.
Infinity...I disagree with this... I mean, yes they are different with regards to the music videos. And the "attractiveness" of the artist.
But with regards to the song in itself in comparison to other upbeat and uptempo K-pop songs, there aren't very many differences at all...
I think it's discernibly different, compare it to BIGBANG's FANTASTIC BABY, f(x)'s Electric Shock or KARA's Pandora.
Infinity...Alternatively, compare it to 2NE1's I am the Best(or practically anything by 2NE1) or B2ST's Beautiful Night...
Seriously, these names, man.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Good point, but I still don't see massive K-pop-ularity happening.
Infinity...And I made that statement to begin with...
But... The fact that a Korean song, in Korean, is getting air time on a radio station in Colorado is progress towards something...
But, again, I've got no idea as to what that something is...

It's playing on a local radio station for me as well. Maybe it will lead to a prevalence of more K-Pop on the radio; after all, SNSD was on Letterman last winter, so it's not like there has been zero exposure.
I'm kind of hoping that it will become the next wave of foreign music to make it big in North America/ English speaking countries, kind of like how scandinavian techno-pop was really big in the late 90s (Aqua, Ace of Base, etc).
As has been said above, I don't think Gangnam Style lead to idol Kpop making it big in the States—at least not directly. It's too different. But what does interest me is how Kpop acts who want to break into the US market may change their strategies now.
It's a Pitbull song that has the bonus of being foreign. If it were anything else, American radio stations wouldn't care.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.So... What, exactly, is your obsession with Pitbull?
I mean, honestly, the best comparison is LMFAO*...
I heard the Wonder Girl's got a show on TeenNick, anybody know how true this is?
Infinity...It was more a made-for-TV movie, than a show... It aired last February. The whole thing is on TeenNick's website, apparently...

For starters, Pitbull is one guy. The song is also rapped over a dance beat, like what Pitbull does these days.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Oh, I know who Pitbull is. I also know he's not the only artist that raps over dance beats(he's also not the first, nor the most popular artist to do so)...
My question is: What is your obsession with Pitbull? Why bring his name up when more applicable ones are there?
Do you like Pitbull and hate that someone would have the "audacity" to "copy" his style? Or do you despise him so much that you think anyone who puts out a song even remotely similar to one of Pitbull's latest songs is a hack who can't sing?
It doesn't matter. As I've said, the song is more comparable to an LMFAO song than to anything Pitbull has ever done. Including your examples.
Edit: Although, I did hear a comparison to Gangnam Style that seems apt and likely very telling as to the future: The Macarena.

He's the one I think of most when I hear the song. You're thinking about this WAY too hard.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Yeah, the Macarena might be a good comparison. But that doesn't change how awesome that song is and always will be! Although I may be saying that since I was like 8 when it was cool *cough*Nostalgia Filter*cough*
My friend got me into Block B, the only Kpop music I can tolerate. XD
I got into K-Pop roughly a year ago (Thanks Wings!)
I think the only things that irk me about the genre in general are the fanbase and the anti-fanbase. Especially if it's a group members birthday (TAEYON♡x50) or a new single's release date, the fanbase just makes me want to die. The anti-fanbase composed of mostly, but not limited to, non-Kpop fans seems to think K-pop is singlehandedly destroying the industry which I think sounds stupid already.
Half the time they don't even know a lick of K-pop besides the ones played on the radio.
I did naht.
...ooookay.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.
