i think i must have seen a test screening of A Mighty Wind because I clearly recall that Mitch Cohen's album was called "Digging my own grave" rather than "calling it quits." My favorite scene from the film! Damn last minute edits, always taking out the edgiest bits.

Well, this is an old, resurrected thread, so really they broke up two years ago.
Or soon will be. Band members announce they're breaking up the group:
"A wise man once said — 'the skill in attending a party is knowing when it's time to leave.' We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we're going to walk away from it," frontman Michael Stipe said in a statement on the website.
"I hope our fans realize this wasn't an easy decision; but all things must end, and we wanted to do it right, to do it our way."
