Kamen Rider: General Thread

I should really start watching the .5 episodes. I've only watched them for the first ep so far, but they sound interesting.

Definitely go check them out when you can. They provide interesting trivia, funny fourth-wall breaking and even some spoilers once in a while. I'd even say they're even better than the proper episodes sometimes.

Zi-O 8

I still think everything about Hayase is just so dumb, but Sougo finally getting a grip on who Woz is and trying to maneuver around him was good

also my immediate reaction to next episode preview is go away kuroto dan, he was already obnoxious in the build crossover movie for like the five minutes of screen time i'm not sure if i can survive exposure to him for forty minutes

Not sure why Kuroto is getting an entire episode, but so it goes.

...so who do you think Geiz was talking about when he said they were dealing with someone more dangerous than they'd thought?

He could be thinking of either Sougo or Woz.

I knew that Genm armor was gonna be a thing, but a full Kuroto episode next week? Really? -_-

In other news, there seem to be more images of the upcoming Another Riders going through the net. Most look quite tacky, but Another Den-O became by far my favorite in terms of design.

I haven't watched 8 yet so don't know if this was in the preview but 9 and/or 10 will also have Eiji and Hina.

Also, they finally announced a Kiva figuart.

Yes, just watched episode 08 properly. I first wished to headbang to Kuroto taking over (as much as I liked him in Ex-Aid), but then Eiji appeared and assured me the OOO arc will not get hijacked by Kuroto.

At least partially; according to KR Wikia, Another OOO is going to be Kuroto himself! Weird, but at least a CEO and Dark Rider aiming for godhood feels a much better fit for "evil ruler" than pretty much every Another Rider up to now. And now it looks like he even is a king already...

One more thing: interesting that Woz is starting to have trouble predicting what will happen next. Does that mean Sougo is really starting to diverge from Oma Zi-O's future already?

I assume Woz is familiar with a timeline where Geiz, Tsukuyomi and the (other?) time jackers didn't travel back.

Zi-O 8

So I'm guessing we'll get the Woz + Geiz deal when Geiz gets his upgrade.

Beast gets his own Ridewatch, fair enough, but watch it just be a finisher again. Also, the toy is a promotion item for clothing because apparently something has to be. Oh, he just doesn't get it at all. That's weird.

Sougo's kind of dumb but at least he's realised he can exploit the one guy in his corner

Characters learn things viewers have already known for ages...

Beast felt wasted. Honestly, this hardly felt like a Wizard episode.

I mean Kuroto was the best villain we've gotten since Fourze or Wizard so I'm all for him getting an episode to himself.

can't believe geiz is fucking dead

This one wasn't really that funny but I guess if you liked this Nitou guy then it's worth a watch.

Finally got around to watching Zi-O 8.5. I was wondering whether there'd be any mayo jokes. Was not disappointed.

Sougo is firmly back in dumbass territory, "sure he may be holding a hostage, had a lady dragged away to prison for seemingly no reason and wants to coerce her into being his wife, and turned a dude into a monster (which he somehow was confused by the existence of AFTER WATCHING IT HAPPEN ON LIVE TV), but idk I need to hear from both sides :D"

Admittedly Kuroto works better as Another OOO with the monster already exaggerated in appearance but still too much of an obnoxious try-hard

See Sougo's reaction in the .5 episode is the one I'd expect from everyone when they meet this clown

Zi-O 9 and .5

For those keeping track, a leaked filming shot we thought was Oma Zi-O is really Dan from this episode

Guess they still have the Yummy suits

And Another OOO gets the dubious honour of being the first Another Rider Suit I actively dislike.

I feel like the fact that Gemn Armour and Another OO Os look nothing alike at all should probably have clued Tsukuyomi in earlier.

Geiz accidentally activating Sougo's Zikku Driver with a kick is a fun little touch

9.5 literally goes down the path of 'well, this toy releases this week'.

I figure Sougo is playing some kind of con or Long Game here. He's too smart to really buy into this, and the entire point of this is that he NOT become the overlord.

Sougo is obviously playing a game here, probably to figure out how he can find the correct Ridewatch. Also, what a change, Eiji!

And Geiz must be really pissed to learn that it may be too late to stop Sougo through his means now. As far as they know, Sougo is now firmly on the path to becoming Oma Zi-O and this will probably strain things a lot in the near future...

As for 9.5, is there any yaoi writer watching this show? You might get interested...

Apparently, Toei is aware of people comparing Build to W in the beginning, because Sento seems to be returning for the W arc.

And your face when you just want to look at some upcoming Armors and end up getting a strong hint that [Possible Episode 10 Spoilers] Gaim is gonna be the next Rider arc, with both Kouta and Kaito returning and Woz starting to hint at new Riders or forms...

Isn't Another Double going to be a movie-exclusive baddie?

That I don't know for sure. Then again, Build's reappearance would make more sense if it's the case.

Bunch of Heisei Generations Forever dropped.

As with the last few, it's kind of a Vs movie +, having Zi-O and Build (plus a good amount of the supporting cast, though it looks like not everyone) and some other guys - notably the Imagin and Owner are back. Villains are a new Super Time Jacker Tid and Anothers Den-O and W. There's also some Kuuga focus but we don't know of any returning Kuuga or W actors so far - Joe Odagiri is kind of the ultimate difficult get. The plot involves a world where Riders are just fictional, though it's not super clear if it's meant to be the real world or not.

Geez, Hina is still so cute. :3 And strong, too.

That mecha battle wasn't half bad, huh. OOO Armor looks much better than on paper, but I guess that's to be expected.

And one of my most awaited Riders is finally coming, oh boy.

Curious, just remembered he does become an Overlord in the final stretch, Nobunaga theming and all, and then a Physical God while being overall a good person, in exact opposition to Kuroto. Maybe Zi-O will now learn what a truly good overlord looks like?

I'd like any kind of internal consistency on the Ride Watches. secondary Ridewatches appear... sometimes? Cross-Z and Beast get them, but Kaixa doesn't. Gemn is the only extra Rider thus far. And now he randomly gets a form watch (Tajador). It almost always correlates to the availability of the toys (campaign items get in, candy toys don't) but it makes no in-universe sense.

Huh. That's an interesting point about how Kouta is arguably exactly what Sougo wants to become, what with literally being an overlord. I'll be impressed if the Time Jackers can really erase him though. I mean, Time Travel is actually one of his powers (well, Mai used it when she became the woman of beginning, and couldn't actually change anything despite being the most powerful character in the show at that point but it would be logical to assume if she can do it, so can he).

However, if time was altered, he is no longer Gaim, therefore he was presumably Brought Down to Normal. Same for Kaito, who, well, didn't get killed. Unless Another Gaim is temporarily defeated and Kouta goes Super Saiyan for a minute - which would be intensely spoileriffic, but awesome.

Also, I've noticed that, with Another W appearing in Heisei Generations Forever, Gaim is probably going to be the last Neo-Heisei Rider arc. Bar Den-O, do you guys expect any Rider in particular after this? In my case, I'm hoping for Kagami Kabuto to come soon!

It's not entirely clear what'll happen next (leaks show Decade Armour in December, then new forms for Zi-O and Geiz which aren't Legend Rider based some point in Q2.) They could just carry on with tribute episodes for all the Heisei phase 1 Riders but I wouldn't be surprised if they pivot into a new arc. There's a few armours were we've already got the watch in toy form and the armour as just a CG render, which sort of makes me suspect those ones won't got episodes.
