I must say, I was quite disgusted by the way they portrayed Troy Baker and Mary Elizabeth Mcglynn as uncaring and selfish jerks and the way they held Guy Cihi up as some sort of voice acting god.
They also picket funerals, promote hatespeech and have a virulent dislike of Norway!
...
They're dicks, but they're not a potentially dangerous cult with a love of litigation.

I get the analogy, though.
All I needed to learn about Twin Perfect was that they called the movie version of Cybil a "butch dyke". People like that make me ashamed to be a part of the fanbase. Like, you can hate the movie, but to insult an actress and character like that? C'mon, don't be so pathetic.
On a happier note, please take the time to watch the joke ending from Silent Hill Book Of Memories:

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyThat was good. Do you know of any more good covers?
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyI always found it amazing that Lost Carol was prominently featured on one of the best reviewed albums of all time
Edit: So why doesn't Tv tropes have a page for Book Of Memories? Alternately, why can't I find it and could someone give me a link?

Somehow you know that the time is right. But I've not played it! I've not played any Silent Hill.
Hell, I wandered into this thread because I wanted to know whether I should get the PS 3 rerelease or the original copies of 2 and 3. (Which, also, yes?) Also whether I should bother with 5, which is the easiest to get a hold of, on PC. Since I've heard it's got bugs. Buuu Uu UUUU Fuuuuuuugss Z.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Get the originals of 2 and 3, as the HD collection is actually apparently based off of incomplete code and there's some slowdown/glitches/graphical omissions. There's a patch for it (PS 3 version only, 360 patch got cancelled for whatever reason), but I don't know how much it fixes. I do enjoy the HD versions' new voice acting, though.
I haven't noticed any bugs in Homecoming, but I also haven't played the PC version and so can't comment on that version of it. The combat is sometimes frustrating, but I think it has some of the best bosses in the series.
Somehow you know that the time is right.Isn't the combat frustrating in all the titles? I thought that was the point/excuse.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Get the originals.
Also, Homecoming moves away from the tank-controls in an attempt to create a more fast-paced style of combat(which sorta misses the point and becomes kind of a plothole later on, but whatever).
In other words, Homecoming being clunky and the first 3 SH games being clunky are different due to both control-style and intent.
Umbran Climax◊Get the originals to not reward Konami for their irresponsible and shitty porting. And then tell us what you think of 'em!
I think that Homecoming has the best boss fights in the whole series, simply because they try something different.
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyYeah, totally. The first game's up on PSN as well.
They're on my list of things to play, as soon as I'm through with Persona 4.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. The Downpour patch has just hit the PS 3 as well, which fixes and enhances the performance, frame-rate and repairs some unspecified mission bug. Apparently there was something wrong with the save system because it mentions that too, though I never noticed anything.
Anyone remember the music box puzzle from 2?
That was kinda creepy.
I was thinking about something from Silent Hill 2 and I want some input on whether or not it's an Easter Egg. It's from shortly after James meets Maria and she's tagging along with him. IIRC, there are some cartons of alcohol in the back rooms of Heaven's Night. If you examine them, James makes a remark that he has nothing against alcohol; in fact, he drinks quite a bit to try to cope with his loneliness and pain, but it doesn't work. Unlike most of the objects in the game that you can examine that have unique comments from James, if you try to examine the alcohol again, you won't get that same comment, so it's missable if you think it's just a mistake that you examined it and if you just mash the button to skip it.
I miss how in earlier games, you would get a lot of commentary from the characters about objects in the background. :/

I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencySo, I bought Homecoming for PC (via Steam). I've played through the Nightmare and a little beyond — just got dropped off in town by some random guy who I'm sure will become hugely significant in about ten hours when he's trying to muurrrder me.
Gameplay's okay. Combat's sticky on the PC — you seem to have to stick to an enemy in order to hit them, but everything goes down in seconds anyway. It seems really easy to avoid taking damage.
In terms of horror they've been a couple of scare jumps that were effective, like the body falling out of the ceiling, and a couple of great moments that suggest mutable reality, like the strangely fleshy glass. But I'm mostly enjoying working out the relationships between the characters — I know absolutely nothing about any of the characters. My main character seems to know the kid, and I'm presuming he's my brother. But otherwise nothing.
Bit of a doofus move for the game to give away that the first stage was a nightmare though. Not sure of the significance of anything, like the experiments, random brutality or the melty world thing. (That was weird).
Oh, and the sound design is gorgeous. Loving the SFX, loving the score, the visuals are nice too, even if nothing's standing out. Main character's face is fucking weird, though. Like he's been bifurcated.
No Spoilers for this game, no spoilers for others please! :D
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Trailer Man doesn't come back, though, he's just a "ooh, see what we did there"-reference to Origins (He's the main character).
Oh okay, fair enough. Probably explains how his truck could FLY OVER BROKEN BRIDGES! (da fark?)

This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. No, that's just the power of Silent Hill. It's easiest thing in the world to enter the town— it's getting out of it that's the problem.
You're playing Homecoming before 2? :/
Umbran Climax◊Perhaps it was a matter of convenience. In any case, hopefully he'll not be turned off the series so much as to not try 2.
