Alternately from the same train of thought...
The page happens to be missing strip #4 (Calvin volunteers to do his report first, and makes a big deal out of the clear plastic binder), but that one's expendable.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.For what its worth, I don't like strip #1 much, as its more of stating the intent to not do the research. The other two are much better, with BATS AREN'T BUGS being my top choice and #6 being second.
Support the Bats Aren't Bugs panels.
"Well, I don't agree with that, Malcolm."But Bat Bugs pic is currently a candidate pic for Critical Research Failure as well.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.I think it fits better there too.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!What, specifically, is the distinction between those two tropes? It seems to me that Critical Research Failure is The Same But More.
EDIT: Nevermind, I looked it up on the canonical list of trope distinctions.

This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.Well, Critical Research Failure generally is considered Did Not Do The Research But Even More Obvious ...

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.I think the Calvin And Hobbes picture works better here, for what it's worth. It will work in either place but I think it fits with this trope better.
I personally disagree, and say it works better on Critical Research Failure. It gets the "obvious fact everybody knows" across better there...
I am now known as Flyboy.Same here.
I agree as well.
Fight smart, not fair.If the crowner on Critical Research Failure goes the way its going right now, which is to keep the current image, then do we put the Calvin And Hobbes image up for vote here?
Yeah, we can use that one from now on.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Works best on Critical, especially considering this was a classroom project
I've actually been convinced that it would work best there now. Regardless, the main sway of the vote seems to be pointing the other way at the moment. So if it doesn't succeed there, I suggest putting it here instead. Its really too good an image to not use.
It's not that people dislike Calvin, it's that a lot seem to like the Olympics one more.
Fight smart, not fair.It is not exactly unanimous support, either ... hey, wait, shouldn't be be discussing CRF over there?

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Indeed...let's steer this back toward DNDTR.
Going For Bats Aren't Bugs.
At the rate it's going, the crowner for Critical Research Failure will end with keeping its current pic, which would free up the C&H pic for this page...in a couple days we should know for sure.
I think that it'd be better to switch the two pics, honestly. The Nazis holding the Olympics isn't all that obvious unless you know more-so about the Olympics than the average person, but is blatantly Did Not Do The Research, while the Calvin and Hobbes one is perfectly obvious for those in elementary school and above and would illustrate Critical Research Failure rather well.
Then again, we could probably do better for Did Not Do The Research.
The D stands for Destiny ✰ Rosa Metalglove Dickpuncher (also I just got it from Vampire Hunter D).I agree, Calvin should be on CRF and the nazis should be on this trope.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
The picture is technically an example, but isn't visually indicative unless you're already familiar with what it is and why, and is accompanied by a rather long caption explaining the details. (I believe we have a term for that....)
Can we find something that does better in explaining itself?
Me, I'm leaning towards the Calvin And Hobbes strip where he's required to do a report for school. Would that work? [1]
