Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

No, just finally starting to grow old.
Ah, as I recall Logan, it was his age but also unknown to everyone the bad guy's anti-mutant corn syrup was deadening his healing factor?
Man, mutants being exterminated by contaminated crops certainly is a thing.
I recall that's inspired by a RL conspiracy theory.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It was definitely a more Singerverse way of killing all the mutants than "Mysterio did it and now Red Skull is King of America".
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonYeah they couldn't use Mysterio, but they liked the idea of an X-man killing off the entire team by accident.
Isn't that right Xavier?

Trust no one.Hulk's hillbilly kids too.
Mileena MadnessThat’s more of Millar’s edgy writing that I can do without.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Thats the second time Miller wrote Hulk as a cannibal and possible sexual offender.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What was the first?
Ultimates in 2002 which preceded Old Man Logan's run in 2008.
Hulk in Ultimates was portrayed as a full monster and was represented as all the repressed emotions of Banner.
So cause he was sexually repressed and a vegetarian, Hulk was a rapist and a cannibal.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Huh, and to think that Ultimates influenced the MCU, where the rapists go to the ambiguously canon Netflix end.
I also wonder how Millar feels about his role in the MCU's success, especially since its cheery and clean tone contrasts with his.

Given his comments about the film adaptation of Kick-Ass, I doubt he cares. Millar is at least self-aware enough to understand that the kind of work he does wouldn't translate well, without changes, to other mediums. Creatives are usually ok when other people do stuff that isn't what they themselves would do, especially when they're multi-millionaires with their own sandbox of characters to play with for decades.
Now, if the MCU was cartoonishly violent and featured sexual assault as a kind of gag, then he might say something angry and heavily-accented.
Prolly the funniest thing Miller said about an adaptation was ironically related to a DC movie.
He once made a tweet trashing Man of Steel, unfortunately only a couple days before Netflix announced the quick cancellation of the show Jupiter Legacy after only one season which was adapted from the comic he wrote, and intended to be the start of a new "cinematic universe".
Talk about egg on your face.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Jupiter’s Legacy; Jupiter Ascending is a completely unrelated movie by the Wachowskis.
Ahaha oh my misname on my part. Funny correction, thanks for pointing it out.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah, reading that name threw me for a loop, but I was totally ready to buy that Jupiter Ascending was an adaptation of a comic book and it got a second tv show adaptation that I never heard about which was canceled quickly.
To be fair, Millar still has his Netflix MCU. Super Crooks is set in the same universe.
On a side note, I find it funny The Boys has its own MCU now, despite being a Take That!. Gen V, and to a lesser extent The Boys: Diabolical.
“You have become the very thing you swore to destroy.”
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. The anime Super Crooks is great yeah.
Though I'm not looking forward to live-action version that is explicitly set in the Jupiter's Legacy universe (despite the comics not having a connection)
Reeks of desperation there
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What's funny is that I heard that Millar hated Captain America: Civil War despite writing the original comic. His main complaint? He thought it was too dark:
????????
The main criticism of Civil War I've seen is that it's too light-hearted, particularly in the airport fight. As much as I love Civil War, that airport scene really is peak quip v. quip writing. That take, coming from that creator, is baffling.
It's like he lives in Opposite World.
Feels like he’s arguing in bad faith TBH.

Wasn't Logan basically cancer-stricken in Logan?
It's been 3000 years…
