Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

TBH, it should be. I would gladly pay to see a Spider-Verse style Hawkeye series translating the unique quirks of David Aja and Annie Wu’s art.
Into the Spider-Verse really has spoiled us on most other superhero media, hasn't it.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)At the very least, there is a high bar to clear in animated movies.
Wake me up at your own risk. And Spider-Man movies.
Indeed, Into the Spiderverse not only brought imho the best Miles Morales and the best Peter (B.) Parker on all media, with PS 4 Spiderman having the second best.
And is no coincidence that both best Spidermans turn to be adults with a long track in heroing.
Wonder when Marvel will learn and let Morales be the kid hero instead of rebooting Peter again in high school.
I got to admit while I think Spiderverse is a better movie, I prefer the MCU Peter to Spiderverse's Peter B. But that's more do to personal preference. I prefer High School Peter, and seeing him grow over time, to already established. Again that's mostly just a personal preference.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIf only they'd ever finally cast an actual high-schooler

I think the current cartoon has probably the worst Miles because there’s effectively no difference between him and Peter.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I was maybe speaking in hyperbole; I know that lots of other comic book adaptations and stuff are each doing their own thing with their own settings and casts of characters and all that so there's a limit to how much I pit one against another. Also like what you like and all that.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)He also has the worst alias: "Spy-D."
I mean... just...
I get that people don't want him to just be "the second Spider-Man," but... you could actually put some effort into it.
Over thousands of different types of spiders & they couldn’t find a decent name.
I mean for Gods sake just call him Tarantula. It’s right there.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The best I've heard came from, surprisingly, Ultimate Spider-Man. "Kid Arachnid," I think it was. Granted, that's still not great, but I will take literally almost anything over that other one.
Whenever you take over an established IP, there’s a feeling out process. Back in the day they would probably do a contest asking people to send in names and then a poll at the end. You couldn’t do that nowadays.
Or go with a similar theme as Gwen with Ghost Spider.
Like I know is obvious and maybe has some unfortunate implications?, but Black Spider sound good to me. Then again english is not my first lenguage so it doesn't sound that bad to me.
Ironically, with his invisibility powers, Ghost Spider would be a good name to him. Maybe Shadow Spider? Nah, doesn't roll as good in the tongue and sounds to edgy and tryhard.

Miles' string of bad names reminds me of Tim Drake and how he couldn't get a good superhero name once he stopped being a Robin.
As for Peter, the ideal thing is for him to grow from being a high schooler, but that tends not to happen in media, so people are fine with him just starting as an adult. He was supposed to graduate and leave for college at some point on Spectacular Spider-Man, but that got cancelled before he could.
And with the arrival of the Honest Trailers for New Mutants.
That is officially it for the Foxmen.
What started out as the premiere superhero franchise that help start it all, dies with a fucking whimper and considered a joke.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Think DC already have a Black Spider which probably puts the kibosh to that. Kid Arachnid is not bad, but I always just think of him as Miles which says a lot about his codenames...
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."There's a gazillion different spiders to name oneself after.
Blue Fang. Huntsman. Wolf Spider. Harvestman (technically not a spider but still an arachnid).
If you really wanted to go all-in on racially awkward superhero names you could go with Brown Recluse.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Speaking of The New Mutants has an audio commentary that's less about the movie and more about Josh Boone gushing about New Mutants artist Bill Sienkiewicz.
Apparently, Sienkiewicz helped make an animated opening for the movie that didn't show up for some dumb reason...
Stupid subpar movie robbing us of ATJ becoming MCU!Magik.

Is anyone using the Scarlet Spider identity nowadays? That's a kickass name, just put Miles in a solid red costume and call him that, even though his standard suit is nifty too.
Kaine, but dunno what he is up to these days.
Wake me up at your own risk.Being very disgruntled if I know him
Although Ben was using the identity for a while after Clone Conspiracy so dunno

Forever liveblogging the AvengersMan Kaine's SS series was dope. One of the first comics I collected actually.
What the fuck happened to Aracelly? There was a big thing building up with her but the series got cancelled before anything could be done with it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Both Ben Reilly and Kaine are using Scarlet Spider.
Yeah, she has pretty much fell into limbo. I think her last appearance was a small appearance in Champions, like one or two pages where she has a small interaction with Viv. I recall Peter David said she was going to show up in Ben Reilly -where Kaine was a supporting character- but she never showed up.
I'm now picturing the whole thing being done with with puppets like Thunderbirds
New theme music also a box
