So does this change Jotaro vs. Kenshiro?

Because I think Jotaro can just blitz Kenshiro now.

Maybe. We'll most probably get our answer when they do the Q&A for this battle in the next DB Cast episode, considering that several episodes ago they made a point of admitting that under the current interpretation of Final Fantasy VII characters' feats (demonstrated in the changed outcome of Cloud vs. Link's remake), Tifa would stomp Yang rather than the other way around note .

I mean, I’d think redoing any episode better have a lot of merit to it as a matchup itself. For me to want a rematch for a battle, it has to be a match-up that actively deserves it, not just one I think is wrong (which at this moment is only, like, Master Chief VS Doomguy).

Sure, Tifa and Yang COULD fight each other again…but really if they come back I’d want them to fight other characters. Which MC and Doomguy could do too, granted, I just prefer them against each other.

Those are also good points. BTW, I added a line towards the end in my note to clarify my reasoning, but to sum it up: Why redo Tifa vs. Yang when Cloud vs. Link demonstrates what is basically the expected outcome of such a battle, and with the winner being Tifa's own comrade to boot?

[up]I love how Yang vs. Tifa brought up a discussion of "Wait, so does this mean Adam vs. Sephiroth is possible?" and it didn't take long after for people to be like "Why send the poor lad to his death?"

Can understand the reasoning for not doing the another animation, doesn't change how awkward (not sure what's the best word here) it is seeing a stance change without a clear acknowledgment.

Also, link to that please?

Madara being undead makes him virtually indestructible.

Zanpakuto exist to slay the undead and can cut souls, though.

You know, as we discuss “does this result overturn the previous research”, I realize I dread the amount of Ichigo VS Naruto rematch requests if they declare Aizen beats Madara (and especially if they use the higher tier Bleach scaling around Yhwach).

I don’t think there’s gonna be much of those considering how much of a different beast those two are compared to the heroes.

Well the main difference between the two fights is that Madara can't scale to The Last Naruto's moon tanking feat and Aizen is immortal while Ichigo is not.

Well... the Bleach manga is apparently getting a new arc, which will presumably give adult Ichigo new feats and forms... while Naruto recently lost Kurama and no-longer possesses superhuman chakra as a result — though I presume they would disregard this development.

[up] I mean, yeah, DB prefers to take characters at their peak, and Naruto is nowhere near his peak now, and likely never will be again, so why bother taking him at a weaker point? But wait... wouldn't Kurama just... reform later? Wasn't it always a fact that even if he died he'd just pop up again at some point? I'm confused.

Also, the calculations DB gave for Stone Free blocking those meteors... my fight suggestion of Jolyne vs Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen might be more viable than I thought.

Finally, I'm with Cross, can someone link the Q&A of them talking about Yang vs Tifa? I don't want to go looking for it.

[up] Apparently not. After using Baryon Mode, Kurama's chakra is completely extinguished, meaning he's gone for good.

[up] Along with Sasuke getting stabbed in his Rinnegan, that feels like very obvious nerfing to keep Naruto and Emo Boy from overshadowing Bolt the super dog. Just one of the many reasons I can't get into the sequel series. But this obviously isn't the thread for that kind of rant. I'll just end it on my belief that Sarada would've been far more interesting to follow in my opinion.

So, with four fights out of the way, let's go over what we know... Akuma vs Shao Kahn is next, of course... Aizen vs Madara is a big one, but it's 2D, and ever since season 4, they've ended on 3D battles (well, actually, season 3 was the only time they deviated from that... still)-it'll probably be the semi final match instead... Korra's opponent still isn't completely confirmed... and there's the last fight- which I believe other people have recognized one opponent, but I have not, i'm not familiar with the cue that was used in the second half trailer... so the finale will either be Korra and her battle buddy, or the battle in which I can't recognize anybody. Which one do y'all think it is?

The upcoming four battles are:

Akuma VS Shao Kahn

Korra VS ??? (presumed to be Rey from Star Wars or maaaybe Delsin from inFAMOUS but I doubt it)

Madara VS Aizen

??? VS ???

We have no idea what one of the battles is, but the finale battle is likely Galactus VS Unicron due to having been confirmed for a while (since Season 2, iirc) and being a finale tied matchup by sheer scale.

I imagine that order is correct too. Madara vs. Aizen just feels like a perfect penultimate fight for this season.

Yeah, I believe that order too. Oh hey, if it's Rey vs Korra at least there's another thing they have in common- horrible executive meddling and negligence that would end up dragging down their stories! Hooray!

Some fights I wanted to put forward-

Amy Rose vs Harley Quinn. Not sure why this wasn't the option in the first place instead of Ramona.

Grand Admiral Thrawn vs Supreme Commander Thel Vadam (yes, technically before he became the Arbiter)- perhaps a big fleet battle, both commanding the largest amount of ships their militaries allow them, to test their wide range of strategy... before somehow ending with them fighting each other one the bridge of either's capital ship. Though I assume a few random soldiers from Thrawn's forces will disobey his orders, suicidally land inside Thel's ships, and just try to destroy all their life supports and shields from the inside. (i wanted to say Khan, but I've heard Star Trek tech outclasses both Star Wars and Halo. I could be wrong, but to be safe...)

Samus vs Doomslayer- after what happened in her most recent game, it seemed only fitting- especially since she honestly needs a much better opponent than Boba at this point.

And then, just for shits and giggles, Candace Flynn vs Lori Loud, big sisters obsessed with phones, boyfriends and ceasing their younger siblings from annoying them. Yeah, pretty much a joke fight, but hey, why not? I need a laugh.

It's not likely to ever happen but I do think it'd be cool if Death Battle devoted an entire episode (either to the main show, or Death Battle Cast) to discussing which episodes they believe would have different results based off how they do their research now. No real need to even create new animation, just a plain simple discussion saying that the loser of a previous battle would beat their opponent if they were to research whatever information they once had available to their current standards.

Of course the downside to such an episode would be that you'd get people who assume that Death Battle willing to admit it get its results wrong at times means it always gets its results wrong. So sadly, I can understand that it's not a road they're likely to risk.

Speaking of... what matches — aside from "Yang vs. Tifa" — do y'all think would turn out differently if done using the updated research standards and/or more recent material?

[up]Pikachu vs. Blanka (Pikachu should arguably be faster and stronger than Blanka, due to defeating pokemon in the Anime that are stronger than Blanka in every way.)

Luigi vs. Tails (Luigi should directly scale to Mario to a degree and gain the infinite Bottomless Glove, meaning Tails has no real way to actually beat Luigi)

Gaara vs. Toph (Gaara more refined Speed and Strength feat and more importantly, stamina increase).

Jotaro vs, Kenshiro (Speed Increase for Jotaro to a monstrous degree, enough to speed blitz Kenshiro.),

Carnage vs. Lucy (Carnage's Speed would be increased thanks to Spiderman's lightspeed reaction).

Having finished Metroid Dread, I'm hesitant to say that Samus's abilities received much of an upgrade in terms of Versus analysis.

There's no indication that Samus can actually control her new Metroid form. Right now, it seems both situational and temporary. It comes out due to the presence of Mawkin Chozo, specifically, and Samus is unable to turn it off until Thoha Chozo DNA suppresses it once again.

As any Death Battle adversary for Samus is unlikely to be a Mawkin Chozo, the new Metroid form seems inapplicable for analysis. Until such a time as new installments develop it into something she has more control over, it's a one-time supremely circumstantial power-up.

[up] Fair, but we know for a fact that she is a Metroid now, sure the ending from Quiet Robe X Parasite kind of surpressed it, but unlike her other end game power up, this is still potentially hers to keep thanks to those Metroid DNA in her. But until we get another Metroid game where it's brought up, it's up to Death Battle's discretion if she could. Evidence point that she could, she used the power to defeat an EMMI, and a powerful one at that.

[up][up] Fair enough, we can't use that, but what with Samus being a silent goddamn badass in all the cutscenes and literally being too angry to die at the end, I feel like her fighting Doomie still fits. Still, if we had to put Samus in only her Metroid suit up against anybody... any ideas?

I feel like Chief is still one of best opponents at least thematically. He got a cosmic upgrade as well in Halo 4.

But like screw that noise because Doomguy has to fight Chief.
